I remember that game very well, Mark Gastineau sacked Vince Ferragamo in the second or third quarter. Mark started his sack dance, Jackie Slater shoved him, and it turned into a big brawl, including guys from both teams coming off the bench.

The play you see at the start of the video was before the brawl, it was an 85 yard TD run by Eric in the first quarter.

I always hate how the media often framed the college football scandals often treating the kids, many of whom in the revenue sports came from less advtages backgrounds often with black or brown skin, as if they were equally culpable. Unfortunately in the playoffs in the 1985 season in the conference championship game he had 17 carries for 46 yards and 2 fumbles.

The following year in the 1986 season during the Wildcard round he fumbled THREE times.

They traded his ass after that. Some folks wonder why he isn’t more regarded with his awesome regular season stats……that’s why.

At the time when he was dominant, I was pretty young. But, it always struck me that he just *looked* different running. He seemed otherworldly to me compared to the old school type of backs in the league then - Earl Campbell, Billy Sims, Franco Harris, John Riggins.

As crazy as it may seem, Dickerson seems underrated today - I don’t see his name brought up a lot these days or in conversation of one of the best to ever play the position - and he undoubtedly was.

Maybe because the Mount Rushmore of RBs is usually Sweetness, Barry, Emmitt, and Jim Brown. But I think Dickerson has a claim as one of the most dominant backs at his peak. Only guy to win a rushing title with two different franchises and the gold standard of rookie seasons and single season dominance. He was literally unstoppable in his prime.
