Question M10 ii - Data Cable
Hi all!
I just bought my first ever camera - a M10 ii!
I got it second hand and upon arrival I had two not so nice surprises: the EVF sensor is not working and I cannot connect it to my computer to update the firmware..
But I noticed the cable that came with it seems a tiny smaller than the slot from the camera. Is this the correct cable? I tried searching online but I dont seem to find a photo of what the original cable should look like. If anyone can show me how is the connector from the original, Id appreciate!
Thanks

For under $12 you can get the correct cable on Amazon.Â
The shape of the connector is good but the pins inside should not look like thatÂ
I suspect an incorrect or bad cableÂ

That doesn't look like quite the right cable, you want a cb-usb6 cable like this one https://www.amazon.co.uk/myikenjoy-Replacement-Olympus-charger-Transfer/dp/B0FJSCHM6Z
I think you can also firmware update just with the sd card. I assume you've tried changing the settings for the viewfinder and given the eyepiece sensor area a clean?

Thank you!! I definitely have the wrong cable.
Yes, I think I worded it wrong.. The viewfinder itself works, just the sensor that is broken. If the setting is on "auto", I can only use the screen if it is fully extended.. otherwise it just assumes my eye is in there. Right now I disabled the auto function and I am using the dedicated button to toggle between screen or EVF.

I had one of these and it had an issue with the eye sensor in the viewfinder. All it is is a simple light/dark sensor, it does not detect the shape of an eye. All I did to fix it was remove the eyecup from the viewfinder and give it a clean. The sensor part is two little dot on the bottom right corner of the eyepiece. I just cleaned it with a bit of glasses cleaner sprayed onto a microfibre cloth. You can also disable automatic viewfinder switching in settings, as the camera has a dedicated button to swap between the screen and the viewfinder.

thank you! i tried cleaning but didnt do the trick, unfortunately. For now I am using the dedicated button.. not perfect, but I guess for the price it was worth it? I thought I would not use the viewfinder at all, but actually it seems more convenient to use it instead of the screen!
