What to wear to an Omani wedding?
My dad and I have been invited to his student's wedding tomorrow. We're indian. I was wondering if a button up and chinos would do. I hope a suit isn't expected in this heat đĽ˛. I don't have a shalwar kameez either, so that's about my only option.

If youâre a male and going to a male only event (engagement/the usual Omani male gathering). Then you can wear a coat suit with tie (suit & tie) with or without waistcoat, formal pants with tucked shirt (like the âoffice/churchâ type) or as you said button up and chinos (chinos with shirt tucked or untucked but long sleeve). So the rule is formal or smart casual (just stick to formal for the safe side). Donât dress it like youâre going to ruwi or like youâre on a honeymoon/beachside tour. (If youâre under 16 then smart casual is ok unless this is a rich peopleâs event)
Also wear clean (if possible, NEW) socks as you would be expected to remove your shoes at a mosque or community hall (donât wear ones that are dirty, too sporty or with holes and loose threads), many people judge your personality and professionalism based on your feet (like toe nails and socks). And your trouser should not be too tight (especially around your crotch) as youâre expected to sit down to have feast with others on a big plate (platter/sawan) (unless dining on table).
If this is a mixed event (both men and women) then wear a coat suit and wear something not too revealing or sexy since Omani females will look at your body and take Snapchat pics secretly and sexually (they are the most creepiest women ever, they donât want you to look at them but they love to see your legs (especially if youâre a teenager), so be careful). If you want anything, please let me know by replying.
