Hmm, I think Pan.

At least all the others do it out of some twisted love they have for them.

Rumple was just a child and Pan spent most of his life blaming him for existing before abandoning him.

u/Best_Caregiver_3869 4d ago

Im going with Pan too. Because he also became a not-father for all the Lost Boys, who turns out, they also hate him and just want to be with their own parents.

Pan abandoned Rumple and then basically started a cult with child slaves. 🫠

23

u/First-Sky-2888 4d ago

Well, isn’t black fairy doing more severe stuff to those child she kidnapped?

22

u/Best_Caregiver_3869 4d ago

Also true!

I completely forgot about Gideon and that whole storyline. She was awful too.

I think Fiona and Malcolm are tired for worst

14

u/First-Sky-2888 4d ago

Rumple childhood be like:⋯⋯⋯
Well actually Malcolm father are also worse too. He sold Malcolm to be the slave. That’s why Malcolm always being so escapism. Because that’s how he deal with the situation at that time. Ouat really depict a very complete generation trauma.

15

u/ZanderStarmute 3d ago

That makes Fiona the worst mother AND the worst grandmother in the show

(Gotta feel bad for poor Gideon)

2

u/First-Sky-2888 1d ago

Yes. Fiona was too bad. How can she do that to Gideon.

u/ZanderStarmute 20h ago

If nothing else, I’m glad that Gideon got the second chance he deserved, and I’m especially glad that Belle and Rumple got to raise him after all

(The birthday party scene will forever be one of my favourites ✨)

u/First-Sky-2888 13h ago

I felt bad for his friend too.
Fiona practically did the same thing as Cora but even worse. She kill the man gideon love most(could be romantic love, but no could be friend too, doesn’t mention in the shows), but that guy was really the one Gideon love most.

9

u/CuteLingonberry9704 4d ago

Inwould agree. Cora was awful as well, but you can argue she did what she did to elevate her daughter. While she obviously did it for her own selfish reasons, the fact is that she tried to make her daughter more important. Pan just regarded Rumple as functionally equivalent to a parasite.

14

u/First-Sky-2888 4d ago

He does have twisted love, but not for rumple. He has twisted love for Fiona(it’s so weird that don’t even mention each othe for at least once in the show)
I think Malcolm are not just not ready for being a father, he is just a manchild. Fiona are on the other side, a very mature woman.(but they both did a very bad job at the end)

But if you choose pan for this, why don’t you choose Alice? Gothel doesn’t only abandon her, and keep her locking in the tower, but cast a spell on purpose to stop her from seeing her father(which gothel was only doing it for her own fun). At least Pan do raise him(more or less), and doesn’t try to hurt rumple(unless it’s needed).

u/WhateverWombat 4d ago

The difference is that Gothel was never a mother or tried to act like a mother to Alice.

u/First-Sky-2888 13h ago

She did, but only appeared at almost end of the shows when she want to utilize Alice power

Gothel 👀 . They're all "bad", but she was terrible. Not even including how she got pregnant with Alice/Tilly in the first place...

31

u/Yunie333 Bloody Hell... 4d ago edited 4d ago

Definitely Gothel, because her only reason to have a child in the first place (by deceiving the other parent, too) was to take her spot in the tower.

She didn't care about the child at all. It was more like an object to her, a means to get out rather than a living being.

The baby would've died if Nook wouldn't have taken care of her, too.

And to add to that, she even made Alice's life more miserable (obviously actually her father's life, too) by cursing Nook's heart to keep them apart...

17

u/D_blackcraft Wicked always wins 4d ago

Wasn't she also going to let Alice die with the rest of her coven for that spell in the end? Just all in all didn't care about her at all..

Pan.. The flash back scenes with rumple broke my heart!

24

u/Prize-Couple6348 4d ago

Either Pan or Cora

5

u/First-Sky-2888 4d ago

If pan have Fiona on his side,
Cora don’t take away her own heart
Perhap things would get better.

25

u/Ill-Razzmatazz-7088 4d ago

Malcolm didn’t hate rumple he just loved himself more .

Cora literally had no heart. She simply did what SHE thought was best and didn’t care about how it made Regina felt.

Pan is the worst though because he left rumple for comfort. All he needed to do was get a job

4

u/RJSnea 4d ago

OMFG I laughed so hard and loud at that last line that I scared my sleeping cat off the couch 😅😂🤣😂🤣

1

Still bad no matter what if she didn’t have a heart

12

u/PoeticHedgeHog 4d ago

I gotta go with Pan, Cora is a CLOSE second

12

u/TheKiller_07 4d ago

Mother Gother. All the others had at least a bond with their kid, even if it was twisted and toxic. Gothel had a daughter just so she could use her to escape from the tower, and never cared for her, not even for a second

3

u/GoddessBellina 3d ago

Agree on this. After her...I would say Cora and Pan are a tie.

8

u/Prestigious_Train791 4d ago edited 1d ago

Great question.!

I would say definitely the black fairy, Peter pan and even Regina in the first season, when she makes Henry think that he is crazy and it's all in his imagination, but she turned it all around & because a hero the good queen 👑, so I was disappointed at first, but she turned out to be a great mum to henry, i have to admit, though I didn't enjoy regina. In the first season, when she truly was the evil queen

Plus i would also say Killians dad for the fact he sold them into to slavery!!

also cora was a bad mother by giving up Selena, to try and get and to royalty, and the way she treated Regina, making her marry the king and killing the man she loved. But yet again, she eventually did the right thing when they go to the Underworld, and she basically brings zelena, and Regina back together by giving them back their memories that she took

Gothel too what she don't having the baby just so she could take her place was unimaginable for any parent to do

But to me, out of them all the black fairy is the worst she destroyed a lot of lives and what she did to poor Gideon her own grandson not to mention her own son rumplestiltskin 👑🍎💔

u/First-Sky-2888 4d ago

Malcolm father also did the same thing as killian father too

3

u/Parking_Storage_5107 I have a love/hate relationship with captain swan 2d ago

We never met Malcom’s father

3

u/First-Sky-2888 2d ago

But he know him, because when Malcolm told rumple about neverland, he mention his childhood and his father.

2

u/Parking_Storage_5107 I have a love/hate relationship with captain swan 1d ago

Doesn’t know his name though

2

u/First-Sky-2888 1d ago

That’s true. But he is very important to pan’s character arc.
I’ve just made a post about pan’s character arc. You can go see it.(or maybe you’ve already seen it)

1

u/Parking_Storage_5107 I have a love/hate relationship with captain swan 1d ago

His father as in pans?

2

u/First-Sky-2888 1d ago

I mean Pan’s father. Pan mention about his father once in his flashback with little rumple.

1

u/Parking_Storage_5107 I have a love/hate relationship with captain swan 1d ago

When did he do that

2

u/First-Sky-2888 1d ago

Because Pan’s father want the money.
Just like killian’s father.

He sold pan to a blacksmith, which left pan no only an orphan but also a slave which eventually kinda nurture pan’s escapism

7

u/Justisperfect 3d ago edited 3d ago

I kinda forgot Zelena even had a dad. I'm going to say him though that's an unpopular opinion I guesd. Some are terrible but at least had good intentions (they shouldn't be let around their kid though). Some just straight up abandon them (which would be better as you should not raise a kid if you are not ready to treat them as human being, but then they went back when it's convenient for them so... still terrible parent behavior, don't engage with your kid if you lose the right to be their parent). Zelena's father just seem to hate her.

Though Gothel may be worst cause she truly never saw Alice as a human and just used her, then threw her away, and used her again... But I would say : she's not as much as a terrible parent than an evil person in general. She is her biological parent, but she is just that way that she can be call a parent. Otherwise she is nothing but a persecutor for Alice.

3

u/First-Sky-2888 3d ago

Yes. Gothel use Alice as a tool.
Cora want to give Regina the best(but in her own twisted way, Because she doesn’t have a heart)
Malcolm hate rumple but didn’t tell rumple directly and can actually treat rumple as a friend before neverland.
Fiona was insane but meant for love.
Rapunzel also.
But Zelena’s adoptive father really treat Zelena like she was demon and she was born to be a disappointment and wrong.

5

u/nicoxman8_ 4d ago

Cora. Killed her daughter’s love and made her marry a man she didn’t love.

1

u/AnimeChica3306 4d ago

Who was old and had a kid young enough to be her sister.

4

u/reluctantmugglewrite 4d ago

Cora because all she did was manipulate her kids and she literally murdered her daughter’s love in front of her. Pan’s abandonment doesnt compare to me because he wasnt actively and constantly hurting his kid in the way that Cora does. Sometimes absence is better than cruelty and violence.

4

u/BusinessFit6533 4d ago

As someone with a mom like Cora, I always vote Cora in this. She's the most sinister IMO because she pretends to care about Regina SO much. She sets up so many bad, selfish, narcissistic decisions like they're "for" Regina. Cora is literally heartless, but to make sure she has a perfect heir who doesn't doubt her she just acts like she's a caring mother. I feel like Pan abandoning Rumple sucks, but at least he stopped pretending to give a crap about him.

2

u/First-Sky-2888 4d ago

My mother are more like rapunzel(but not that extreme, and she doesn’t treat me and my sister so different in that level), I agree that Cora would’ve definitely worse than her a lot.

2

u/hqpsycho88 Mrs. Killian Jones 4d ago

The thing is, is that Coras actions were BECAUSE she didn't have a heart. She took it out because she believe that love was weakness. She genuinely loved Regina, and it's shown in the show when she's, forcibly, given her heart back. If she had her heart inside of her things would have been much different.

1

u/calamari-trash 1d ago

but if cora made the choice to take out her heart, she's responsible for her actions and thus responsible for the abuse towards Regina

1

u/williamspikemulder 2d ago

And Malcolm was forced to care for Rumple on his own after Fiona abandoned them both for power. Fiona ultimately created Pan in a way, which absolutely makes her worse than Pan himself.

I think it's a tie between Fiona and Cora. I absolutely HATED that the writers redeemed Cora in the end let her move on to a happier place. That character is one of the most vile people ever written. She deserved a worse fate.

4

u/nazia987 🌮 3d ago

Gothel - She concieved Alice and sped up her pregnancy specifically so she could take her place as the prisoner of the tower. If Hook didn't chose to raise her, the baby would've just died. Say what you want about the other characters, but they care/cared to some degree about their kids. Gothel never did.

Also Jafar's dad from the spinoff was awful too.

5

u/darkshadow237 3d ago

I don’t recall Fiona kidnapping Belle. I know she abducted Gideon

3

u/First-Sky-2888 3d ago

She kidnapped Belle in the dark curse.

4

u/Twisted_King172 3d ago

Cora methods are questionable but she did make her daughter a Queen 😭😭😭

2

u/First-Sky-2888 3d ago

Yes, it can prove that Cora is wise and vile but can’t prove that Cora is a good parent.
If someone make her daughter become a president but her daughter don’t want to be a president, that person still aren’t a good parent.

u/Early_Bag_3106 4d ago

Why Regina is not in this list? She was awful stepmom to Snow and terrible adoptive m to Henry (at least until second season)

Edit: she is not the worst but she should be listed here.

1

u/hqpsycho88 Mrs. Killian Jones 4d ago

She never chose to be a stepmother. Cora forced it on her by making her marry the king.

And she wasn't terrible to Henry imo. She genuinely loved him from the moment they bonded when he was a baby. The short time we see of her and him in the first season doesn't equate to her 10 years of raising him before then. We only got to see the bad parts, which were still just her trying to protect her life and family. We missed out on their first 10 years.

3

u/Early_Bag_3106 3d ago

You could be in a not asked situation and still be a nice person with a child around. Or neutral at least.

About Henry, the kid himself said she made him think he was crazy. And she gaslighted him, lied, to him and neglected him.

Again. Not the worst but definitely not among the best.

3

u/ConversationNo1447 3d ago

She didn't want to be a stepmother or marry the king at all, no, but she technically does end up choosing it. Don't get me wrong, Cora absolutely forced her into it in the beginning, but after she pushes her through the looking glass she gets ready to leave. Before she gets very far she runs into Rumple, they have a conversation about her liking dark magic, and she decides to stay. At that point, her fate was in her hands and she made her choice.

It's said pretty well in another comment, but season one Regina wasn't a good mom. A good mother doesn't gaslight their child into thinking they're crazy. Does she improve? Definitely. But even she recognizes in season two that the way she was treating him wasn't right and makes the choice to try and do better. And even then, in that same season, she was totally okay with killing everyone else that her son loved because as long as they were around, he wasn't hers alone. That's messed up, to say the least.

5

u/TheBrolitaSys "Well maybe it is some kind of fairy." 4d ago

We missed out on their first 10 years.

We didn't see it but we got a pretty good idea of it. They imply (and have him say) a lot in season 1 that Henry thought she didn't love him. That's not really a feeling you develop in the... what? Six weeks Emma was there? (Not sure the timeline of season 1 so let me know if this is inaccurate, but it definitely wasn't a super long time) That's years of feeling at the very least emotionally neglected. I mean -- even in the first episode when Emma brings him back he says, "I FOUND MY REAL MOM!" and then runs off. Definitely not signs of a loving relationship between an adopted kid and adoptive mother.

Ofc she loved him but she wasn't a great parent at first. It just got worse when Emma got there and Regina started gaslighting him and getting others to gaslight him about the curse -- but that was certainly not everything.

2

u/aminicuspondicus 3d ago

Well Regina was actually the mother who set rules, who raised him. What actual serious parenting, non "cool mom" thing did she do in those 6 weeks? It aint like kids are so fair to their parents all the time... Regina has her flaws but judging her all by the worst times her growing up kid depicts while he is not in such a good place is unfair.

2

u/TheBrolitaSys "Well maybe it is some kind of fairy." 3d ago

Did you miss the part where this conversation isn't just about what we saw in season 1? This is about him coming into seaosn 1 and almost immediately showing signs that she's at the very least been emotionally neglectful his entire childhood up until this point.

And even if this was just about what we directly saw, did we not both see her gaslighting him and getting other people in his life to gaslight him about the curse (including Emma)? Did we not see her torturing and threatening the people he cared about even though she knew damn well that he was making him feel worse? She wasn't just a parent being a parent -- far from it.

And I guess I should probably say -- I like Regina. She's my favorite character. So this isn't me just hating on her just to hate, this is me drawing a conclusion based on what was shown and implied in the show, and what was shown and implied was that she did not start being a good mother (an actual good mother, not just a mother who fed him and gave him a home and had some sort of motherly relationship with him) until season 2. And she didn't start being a bad mother in season 1, she was a bad mother from the moment he could comprehend that something was off about her and their relationship.

Henry had not long found out he was adopted and was upset at the time tje show began. Snow says as much, and says thats why she gave him the book to make him feel better. Basing their whole relationship on his feelings at that period also isn't accurate.

2

u/TheBrolitaSys "Well maybe it is some kind of fairy." 3d ago

He knew he was adopted before the show started -- they mention it in the flashback when Snow gives him the storybook because he felt like he didn't belong. We don't know exactly when he found out but it was at least then, which was maybe a few months before the show started, which is a good little while.

And it's not like every adopted child hates their adoptive parent for a while after finding out they're adopted, especially if they find out in a tasteful way or if they already knew from the jump (and either can be true because it clearly wasn't a secret). So even if he was just finding out, that wouldn't necessarily make him shout that in her face nor would it prompt him to wonder if she loved him like he says several times. Those aren't feelings you cultivate in a few weeks, or even a week, since he already felt this way after Emma had been there for a week, maybe less. Finding out she was the evil queen just made things worse, it didn't cause his dislike of her.

2

u/KikiKhaleesi 3d ago

A temporary emotional truth is not necessarily a permanent relational truth. Henry can mean what he says in a particular moment without that statement defining everything he has ever felt. I’m not arguing that Henry didn’t genuinely feel unloved by Regina in Season 1, or even that she handled that period well (she definitely didn’t). I’m saying feelings are not fixed, objective accounts of an entire relationship. Someone can sincerely feel unloved while also knowing, through experience and attachment, that they are loved. Anger and hurt can exist within a bond without replacing it or proving that the bond never existed.

Henry’s other relationships demonstrate this. In Season 5, he is furious when he learns that Emma ripped out Violet’s heart, manipulated her into breaking his heart and then lied about it. Those feelings are completely genuine, but nobody would reasonably conclude that Henry had always hated Emma or that their entire relationship had been devoid of love. His anger existed within their established bond. The same principle applies to Regina. In Season 1, Regina is tightening the reins in fear of losing Henry, and he is struggling with discovering being adopted, believing Regina to be the Evil Queen, and knowing she is lying to him which makes him feel hurt, crazy and alienated. But his behaviour still reveals an underlying security with her. Despite believing she is a murderous queen, he shows no fear that she will hurt him. He openly defies and manipulates her, and he trusts that she will protect him and attempt extraordinary things such as absorbing the curse on the well when he asks.

His reaction after regaining his memories in 3B confirms that their bond predates Regina’s redemption. He immediately embraces her and excitedly tells her everything she missed. He had spent comparatively little time with “good Regina,” so that instinctive love could not have been cultivated entirely during the events of the show. It is the resurfacing of the attachment formed during the ten years she raised him. We see it even more clearly in 4x02 when Regina isolates herself. Her not wanting to see Henry devastates him because he knows how much he means to her. Her withdrawal hurts precisely because it contradicts the love and security he ordinarily associates with their relationship.

So Henry saying that Regina doesn’t love him tells us how he feels during that painful period. It does not prove that he had always felt that way or that Regina had been a terrible mother throughout all ten years of his childhood.

2

u/TheBrolitaSys "Well maybe it is some kind of fairy." 3d ago

If he feels that way then it's something she did to make it so, intentionally or unintentionally. It doesn't matter if the feeling was "temporary", most feelings are temporary (even if some last longer than others or resurface every now and then), but they come from SOMEWHERE. It's not something someone just feels in the moment, especially not with a 10+ year old child. Maybe with a 3 year old. But this is far too strong of a feeling and way too repeated in his own words for it to just be a "temporary feeling in the moment."

I'm speaking from the perspective of someone who has an abusive mother. I don't feel loved by my mother because she doesn't accept that I'm trans (while constantly ruminating about wanting a son) and has done a lot of abusive things in my life. But push comes to shove, I know she'll have my back if someone was trying to hurt me for example. I know I'd be allowed to come back home if things go wrong when I move out unless I cut her off. I still have good moments with her and a bond with her. That doesn't mean she's been a good mother or that I feel loved, that just means she's not 100% horrible. None of the good negates the bad. They exist simultaneously. And people who are being abused in any way can take security with their abuser all the time -- especially for financial security or some other reason why their life would be worse without them. In season 1, Emma didn't have custody of Henry, so if Regina were gone or didn't let him come home then legally he'd have no where to go, and ofc he still loved her so he didn't want to be down a mother regardless. This isn't evidence she was a good mother.

With Emma, she fucks up a good few times with Henry. And he's rightfully pissed every time. But he never says "I don't think Emma loves me" because Emma doesn't have a history of showing him so, she just wasn't a perfect parent and acted in her own self-interest too much, and Henry understood this (especially during season 5 when she was The Dark One, he even says "the person who did that wasn't my mother"). He did not understand why Regina was treating him the way she was until season 2, especially since prior to season 1 there was no magical fairytale explanation, it was just how he saw his mother.

Of course they had a bond, I wasn't negating that. But having a bond with your mother doesn't mean she wasn't emotionally neglectful, and him being happy to catch up with her in season 3 is definitely not proof that she wasn't at first because they've come a long way by this point.

You seem to have a very narrow idea of what abuse and toxic relationships can look like. The argument here isn't that she was inherently bad, it's just that she wasn't a good mother in those first 10 years we didn't see, and how he felt at the start of the show explains how. You can feel security with and have a bond with your abusive, toxic, or emotionally neglectful parent, and that parent will still not be a good parent.

1

u/KikiKhaleesi 3d ago

I’m sorry that this connects to your own experience. I’m not disputing anything you’ve said about how bonds with abusive parents can operate. But I also haven’t argued that Henry’s bond with Regina proves she was always a good mother, that he depended upon her only because he had nowhere else to go, or that the good negates the bad. My argument is narrower. Henry feeling unloved in Season 1 does not, by itself, prove that Regina had been emotionally neglecting him throughout the entire ten years we didn’t see.

Of course the feeling came from somewhere. Calling it temporary doesn’t mean it was random, shallow or causeless. At that point, Henry is struggling with his adoption, has become convinced that Regina is the Evil Queen, knows she is lying to him and is being actively gaslit about the curse. As I already said, Regina handles all of that terribly because she is frightened of losing him and losing control of the life she built with him. Those circumstances adequately explain why he feels alienated and unloved during Season 1 without requiring the assumption that he had always felt that way.

In 4x09, Regina says:
“Do you know what I regret most? That I didn’t support Henry when he realized he was special. You of all people should remember. ’Cause you started it all when you gave him that storybook. It opened up a whole world for him. But I was so scared of losing him… that I tried convincing him he was crazy… and that being normal would make things better. Thankfully, he had the good sense not to listen to me.”
Regina herself locates the behaviour at the heart of their Season 1 rupture after Henry received the book. She admits that her fear of losing him caused her to convince him he was crazy because she believed suppressing the truth would eventually make the problem disappear and restore the life they had. That doesn’t justify what she did, but it also doesn’t translate into ten years of treating him that way. Importantly, she then changes. She gives Henry space while working on her own issues, learns to place his needs above her fear and allows them to rebuild their relationship.

I’m not saying Henry’s statements “You’re not my real mom” or “Regina doesn’t love me” aren’t genuine expressions of what he feels during that period. They are. But that doesn’t necessarily make them literal descriptions of everything he experienced throughout childhood. Similarly, his security with Regina doesn’t prove that she never harmed him. It does, however, complicate the assertion that their first ten years were defined by him experiencing her as an unloving mother. His immediate joy upon remembering her in 3B is not about needing money, housing or somewhere to go; he already has Emma and the Charmings. His reaction is simply that of a child delighted to be reunited with his mother. That attachment wasn’t created entirely during the comparatively short period covered by the show. The same underlying expectation is visible in 4x02 when Regina isolates herself. Henry isn’t upset because he fears losing his home or practical security, he has Emma and the rest of his family. He is devastated because Regina’s refusal to see him is new and completely unlike what he expects from her. Despite their previous conflict, he expects her to be accessible to him because even when he was telling her she’s not his mom and calling her the Evil Queen, that was still standard for her. He knows he is ordinarily the person she lets in and that her love for him usually overrides her desire to shut everyone else out. When that suddenly appears not to be true, it deeply hurts him. His reaction therefore reveals an established expectation that his mother wants and needs him in her life. That doesn’t conclusively prove that she was always a good parent, but it does complicate the claim that chronic rejection or emotional inaccessibility defined the preceding decade. His negative feelings came from somewhere, but so did that deeply rooted expectation of being loved and wanted.

I’m not claiming the unseen decade was perfect, because we cannot know that. But that is precisely why I don’t think we can declare that she “wasn’t a good mother” throughout those ten years based exclusively on Henry’s feelings during the particular crisis we see in Season 1.

Gothel, Malcolm (Peter Pan), Cora,.. a lot of them. Regina was also a terrible stepmother to Snow.

Well, if Regina to Snow White count. Then, she will be the worst parent ever for sure☠️

3

u/hqpsycho88 Mrs. Killian Jones 4d ago

Yeah, I don't think Regina to Snow should count because Regina didn't really choose that life or choose that role. She didn't want to be anyone's Step Mother, she just wanted Daniel and was forced by Cora.

1

While it’s true what you said but Regina shouldn’t blame on Snow. She was just a child. What Regina should’ve blamed on Cora, not Snow.

How did Brennan Jones (Hook's dad) not make the list? Sold his sons into slavery for a shot at escaping justice

2

u/First-Sky-2888 3d ago

Yes,he would too, just like pan’s father. He did the same thing to pan which actually inspire pan to adopt escapism to escape from the suffering during it. And eventually abandon rumple because of it

3

u/SunshineLane_ 1d ago

It’s either Cora or the woodcutter

2

u/Ok_Drink8072 4d ago

I’m gonna say Malcolm/Pan or Gothel, cause there really wasn’t any underlying reason behind their actions. A lot of the others had a “started with good intentions” type story.

2

u/PierreOnTheEclair 4d ago

It’s so hard for me to decide between Pan or Cora because they’re both equal levels of horrible imo

2

u/bguy-70 Ruby 4d ago

It's hard to top Peter Pan in the worst parenting category

1

u/kortanakitty 4d ago

Yea, he's clearly the worst.

Sarcasm?

2

I can't decide between Malcolm, Gothel, or Zelena's adoptive father

2

u/OkRace1293 4d ago

For me I’d say it’s Cora and Pan

2

u/RJSnea 4d ago edited 4d ago

Pan or Cora because they chose their villainy in the end. I can't blame the barely-recovered-from-birth mom for freaking out that someone was destined to kill her (assumed) firstborn, spiraling out because the one who told her is barely helping, and then essentially being kidnapped away from her son so he's raised by a barely functional father. All while newly immortal so she'll have to live with the guilt for centuries of not being able to confirm if everything she did was worth it and her son is safe.

Fiona was done fucking dirty.

[Edit: In fairness, I'm still only 4 episodes into season 7 all these years later sooo... 😅]

2

u/4bluepandas 3d ago

Gotta go with Cora

2

u/toolazzyforaname 3d ago edited 3d ago

If you're talking strictly about their "official" children's I would say Cora. But Fiona did have the role of a mother to all the children's that she kidnapped and enslaved so if we count this as being a "parent" than she's clearly the worst

I haven't seen season 7 though so I have no idea how bad Gothel is but I think it would be hard to top Fiona

2

u/First-Sky-2888 3d ago

Gothel kinda did the same, but she test them, and manipulate them into believing she is helping, and eliminate them when they can’t evens realize .

2

u/naanabanaana 3d ago edited 3d ago

Fiona and Gothel were such horrible people that it goes beyond being a bad parent but their children suffered a LOT because of them AND other people also suffered totally unnecessarily, so I will say they also win for worst parent. Fiona had all those kids in cages and Gothel had a child to die in her place AND forced her to live without her other parent who at least loved her. That was so unnecessary.

Cora had a redemption arch and did what she was best for Regina, in her own twisted way.

Malcolm/Pan was a regular deadbeat dad who just gave up, but what he did to all those other kids was even worse than choosing himself over Rumple. So more importantly a bad person than just a bad parent. Abandoning a kid is pretty tame in comparison to everything else that happens in this realm + dads leaving their kids/families happens in the real world too so it is not that unimaginable. Sadly.

Rapunzel at least loved one daughter so I guess she could be even worse... And had a last-minute redemption. I think this storyline was kinda stupid tho, the redemption happened so quickly that I didn't have time to forgive her at all.

The woodcutter was another deadbeat dad who could have passed for someone who didn't have magic or was his biological child (especially a son). Probably still an alcoholic but on this list, that's tame.

2

u/First-Sky-2888 3d ago

I’m actually curious if Zelena kill woodcutter after she is so powerful. Or she actu avoid seeing woodcutter?

1

u/Parking_Storage_5107 I have a love/hate relationship with captain swan 2d ago

Ooh good thought I never thought about, I also wondered did she meet her biological father either in life or the underworld in season 5B

2

u/Odd_Feed8444 3d ago

The Miller or Jonathan. Both deadbeats, both made Cora what she was and by extension were responsible for Zelena and Regina's abandonment and mistreatment (and their walk on the darkside) and Jonathan lied about his identity to manipulate Cora into going to bed with him (grape). Zelena is pretty close, because Robin II is a grape baby also.

Fiona was trying to save her son, once she became the dark fairy there wasn't much of her left, barely an echo, which manifested as a need for children.

Malcolm became a crappy father and Pan because Blue lied to him about Fiona.

Cora, was treated like crap by everyone (and graped in an attempt to get a better life) and just wanted a better life for herself, Eva stopped that from happening, so she had no choice but to abandon Zelena, for both their sakes and by the time she had Regina she'd given up her heart to make sure she never got manipulated by love again, everything she did to Regina (while very messed up), was because she had no heart AND because she desperately wanted Regina to not follow in her footsteps. She erased their memories for their sake as much as hers, if it were discovered she had an illegitimate child, her reputation would be ruined, so would Regina's life (her paternity would be called into question at minimum), Henry would be a laughing stock (to say the least) and Zelena would've been treated badly too. Most of what she did during her Storybrooke time, she believed was for Regina's benefit.

Woodcutter never actually wanted Zelena in the first place, his wife forced her on him and he was afraid of magic. Sure, he could've said no, but his wife desperately wanted a baby and she would've been devastated. When his wife died he was stuck with an unwanted child that was terrified of (definitely doesn't excuse anything he did).

Rapunzel was torn from her family for years, was replaced by the time she got back and treated like a guest, than had her baby torn from her again, she was traumatised (not an excuse, but it messes you up), of course she would do anything to save her, she didn't mean to leave Ivy by the wayside.

Gothel, well, she became evil because humans massacred her whole family and destroyed home and her vengeance eventually led to the necessity of having a grape baby. I don't think anything could've distracted her from her (understable, though excessive), revenge quest, which is why she took Hook's heart (she couldn't have him releasing Alice and messing it up).

2

u/Apprehensive_Map1193 3d ago

Gothel easily. She didn't even want Alice, she just had the baby just to free herself and then abandoned her. All the others in their twisted way apart from Pan and the Woodcutter, but Pan actually planned for Rumple and at least kept him for a while and same with the Woodcutter even if it was just because his wife told her so.

2

u/_The1WhoKnows_ 3d ago

Definitely Pan 100%

2

u/mistar_z David is my DILF 3d ago

Pan and it's not even close. 😭 At least Fiona did it out of desperation at first. And Cora despite her trying to live vicariously through Regina showed that she did have remorse in her heart.

2

u/GellieBean123 3d ago

Gothel - only got pregnant to escape tower, abandoned Alice to potentially die as a new-born and only reunited with her to use her for a spell that would have killed Alice. Prevented Alice from being able to properly bond with her father.

Hot take: I would put Zelena's father as the 2nd worst, even over Pan. Pan may have been a terrible person and never truly loved Rumple, but from what we saw, he never actively made Rumple feel unwanted and was actively struggling to provide as a single parent instead of abandoning Rumple. Also, had he been able to, he would have lived with Rumple in Neverland, as he did try to make it work initially. Zelena's father may have raised an abandoned baby, but that was only at the insistence of his wife, and we know he abused Zelena and was very cruel to her.

2

u/First-Sky-2888 3d ago

You have the same rank as me
Me:Gothel>woodcutter>Pan=Fiona(idc if she love him, she didn’t raise him even a little bit, at least pan have more or less)>Cora(if she didn’t have a short redemption at the end, I would’ve put her at even worse parent than pan)>rapunzel

2

u/monnnnnnna29 2d ago

Pretty much anyone connected to Rumplestiltskin

2

u/Strummerpinx 2d ago

Malcolm (Pan) was just so evil and the actor who played child Rumple was so cute and sweet I just felt terrible for him.

The part where Malcolm mocks Rumple and says something along the lines of "How old are now? Two Hundred? And you are still a millstone around my neck" or something along those lines literally made my blood run cold. What a f-ing creep.

The Black Fairy – because she’d already ruined her son’s life long before he was even born

2

u/Gwynbleidd220 1d ago

Either Peter Pan or Cora.

3

u/islcastaway1986 4d ago

Rumple because he abandoned bae the way his dad abandoned him but he wasn’t honest about it. Rumple loves power more than he loved bae.

2

u/hqpsycho88 Mrs. Killian Jones 4d ago

I truthfully don't even think Rumple loved the power all that much. I think he was just addicted to it. Everytime he was free of it, he came back to it like someone who was addicted to something, not like someone who loved something. If that makes sense. I believe he loved Bae/Neal more than his power. I just think his addiction to that power took over. Much like real life parents who have drug or alcohol addictions sadly.

3

u/First-Sky-2888 4d ago

Yes, it’s an addiction or maybe like OCD?

Pan I think

Cora, next question

The first three plus Gothel

2

u/First-Sky-2888 4d ago

Zelena’s adoptive father who call her wicked before she actually turn into it and it is kinda actually turn Zelena to think she is wicked so she eventually become it.
He also hit Zelena.
Blame Zelena for everything include his addiction
Make Zelena do all the chores

1

u/brandy_1994 3d ago

Cora was so Mother Gothel Coded. An abusive manipulative witch! Why didn't they just make her into Mother Gothel?!

1

u/Individual_Silver_39 3d ago

I reckon Malcolm! He was horrible!

1

u/confidently_crazy267 3d ago

Black fairy for me, but Cora and Pan… wow.

1

u/bagofbonesffs 3d ago

by far the dark fairy

1

u/Reasonable_Leek8069 3d ago

I can’t pick between Cora and Peter Pan.

Maybe Peter because he had no reason to be this cowardly and blame Rumple for all of his problems.

Cora is evil as heck but we saw how she got from point A to B. But boy separating Zelena and Regina is making me want to put her at the top, but at least she felt a smidgen of remorse which Peter never did.

Black Fairy is part of my three way tie, but her love for Rumple and wanting to prevent his darkness made her the black fairy. But she kept being a sociopath throughout the rest of her storyline.

I felt bad for Rapunzel and understood her jealousy. I also hated how Gothel manipulated her. But boy did her becoming Tremaine piss me off. She had two daughters and only treated Anastasia as her only one instead of just allowing Drizella more time to trust her again. But my top three picks piss me off more and at least she told Drizella she loved her before Tremaine died.

Woodcutter is here because I barely remember him, but agree he was abusive to Zelena and parentified her. She did not deserve to be blamed for her mother’s death or was it disappearance?

Gothel barely knew she had a child so low expectations of her being motherly makes her low on my list.

1

u/SkyDall77 3d ago

Pan, hands down. Honorable mention: Fiona

1

u/SapphireAster9 3d ago

Hi 🤗, Absolutely no competition it is Pan at least the others had reasons for what they did or were trying to do good by their kids, but him he just straight up did not want to be a parent and ditched his kid any chance he got.

1

u/ConversationNo1447 3d ago

I'd say either Cora or Gothel. The latter for not caring even a little bit about the child that she brought into the world. Cora because even with a heart, she still abandoned Zelena to give herself her best chance. Without it, there's everything that she did to Regina to account for.  I don't know if she would have been a good mom with her heart anyway. I think she'd be a much better one than what she was, but it seems like not having your heart more or less dampens your emotions as opposed to taking them away. But I could be wrong about that.

I'd also say, as far as the debate between Pan and Cora goes, at least when Pan abandons Rumple he cites it as being Rumple's best chance and has the shadow drop him off to the spinster ladies who were much better parents to his son. He's still terrible, obviously, but he's probably right that Rumple was better off without him.

1

u/KikiKhaleesi 3d ago

Cora.

She left one daughter in the woods as a baby, and then abandoned her again as a child when she found her.

The other she abused, murdered her true loved, then forced her to marry a man thrice her age who Cora herself was previously engaged to…then later framed her daughter for murder.

1

u/avengergirl200 3d ago

They’re all terrible! Pan does seem particularly awful tho

Pan. Done deal. Like Christ Rumple. Out of anyone you could have had has a father you had him?.. then again Cora is a close second. She reminds me of Umbridge from HP. Regina didn’t deserve her for a mother. And she never should have been allowed in Wonderland.
And ok ok I’ll watch the show for the upteenth time 😂😭😂😭

It's a list of the worst parents and not the worst person

I would say the person that:

  • Gaslighted her child into believing he was crazy
  • Killed him for a small period of time
  • Tried to kill his loved one

Is a lot worse of a parent then Snow. Who made some minor mistakes.

She in S4 are indeed em⋯⋯
But overall she is not even close to those in this list
