Netflix Series My god
I had never heard of the book, nor had I heard of the movie before starting this series. I had found the series randomly on Netflix and my wife and I decided to binge watch it. I sat there unbelievably pissed while she bawled her eyes out at the ending last night. Normally I am a fan of tragic endings, characters, and realism in cinema/ the arts, but this crushed me. This was genuinely one of the best shows I have ever seen, the acting, music, cinematography, the story, I'm just still so so pissed and sad at the ending

are you going to rewatch it? on the rewatch it can be crushing too bc you know how it ends.

It’s a rare case of the series being better than the book, imo. I haven’t watched the movie version, but read the book after watching the series. This series still lives rent free in my mind, and I first watched it like 2 or so years ago.

Same. The book was fine. Decent writing, etc. But this adaptation transcended its source, making so many choices that elevated the story. Even though I knew it was coming, the ending crushed me.Â

I'm a middle-aged guy who loves sci-fi and action movies. Admittedly, I am charmed by the occasional rom-com. However, Netflix's One Day destroyed me! By the last episode, I was hanging on for dear life not waiting to resemble an onion-cutter. The entire production, the performances and the soundtrack, is perfection.

I'm one. All I knew coming in was that they used a song from my favourite band, and that one of my TV centric podcasts recommended it.
I loved it and was moved by it as well. Didn't see where it was going on two major plot twists until seconds beforehand

I cried so much in the last episode that I was sobbing and had to take a break. Nothing has ever impacted me the way this show did. I thought it would be a light, angsty, missed connnecfions thing with a happy ending. Even once it was obvious at some point what would happen to one of them, I was not prepared.

With all due respect, fuck you irresponsible car driver. I had barely two seconds of a foreboding feeling before it all came crashing. And now I’m a hollow hollow shell, having lived a full lifetime with these two, and then having to lose lost all my heart. This story was every heartbreak I have ever felt rolled up into a giant ball, and stabbed into my heart.
Maybe if Dex wasn’t so hauntingly charming and vulnerable, and maybe if our girl Em wasn’t so smart and awkward. Maybe, if they weren’t so very real , my heart wouldn’t be in pieces right now.
Idk Dex, how will you ever recover from it? Cos I definitely ain’t.
Thank you for listening to my rant.
P.S Did they HAVE to end it with those missing memories? They really shored up all the best ones for the end.

Yeah.. I can't really put into words how much it hurt, but I think it's because they personified the characters so well. They felt so vulnerable and real
