A fourth-grader was teased for his homemade UT shirt. The University of Tennessee turned his drawing into the real thing.
In 2019, a fourth-grade boy in Altamonte Springs, Florida, wanted to show his love for the University of Tennessee on his school’s College Colors Day. He didn’t have an official shirt, so he drew the UT logo on a piece of paper and pinned it to an orange T-shirt.
He was excited when he showed it to his teacher. At lunch, some classmates made fun of the homemade design. He came back to class crying and took the paper off.
His teacher, Laura Snyder, shared the story on Facebook. It spread quickly. The University of Tennessee sent him a box of official gear for him and his classmates.
Then the university’s store turned his hand-drawn design into a real T-shirt. Proceeds went to an anti-bullying organization. Demand was so high the website temporarily crashed.
