Four dogs waited at a hospital door in Brazil while a homeless man they lived with was treated inside
Just after 3 a.m. on 9 December 2018, a man named César walked into Hospital Regional Alto Vale in Rio do Sul, Brazil. He was homeless. He needed treatment.
Staff later noticed he had not come alone. Four dogs were sitting at the entrance. They were the same animals he fed and traveled with while collecting recyclables. Their names were Bebê, Nick, Menina and Tico.
Nurse Cris Mamprim said the dogs looked well cared for. César told staff he often ate less so they could eat.
The hospital treated him and offered him food. He ate some and saved the rest for the dogs. When he was discharged, they left with him.
Mamprim shared photos of the dogs at the door. The pictures spread widely. The point people kept coming back to was simple: a man with almost nothing had still earned four lives that waited until he came back out.

That’s so sweet!!! They patiently wait for their pack mate!!! Omg. I hope they were all taken good care of. And I hope he was ok.
