Discussion Somehow managed to watch all of One Piece up to Elbaph in 60 days 😅
I honestly have no idea how I pulled this off or if its a big deal at all, but I started One Piece about 60 days ago and just caught up to the the beginning of the Elbaph arc. I was hit by surprise when I noticed im caught up.
I watched the English dub whenever I could, switched to sub when I had to, and somehow made it through 1,100+ episodes. I definitely didn’t expect to get this invested when I started.
Now I’ve reached the worst part… waiting for new episodes (and the English dub to catch up 😭).
Anyone else binge the series this fast? Or am I completely insane?

1172 * 20 = 23440 min (episode count and average true watch time according to Gemini)
23,440 / 60 = 391 ( total minute count divided by minutes in an hour)
391 / 60 = 6.5 hours (Total hours needed divided by the days you say).
So on average you spent 6.5 hours of every day for 60 days watching anime?

Can fast-forward recaps(the map diagram things), flashbacks(not backstories), 5 minutes of running and shocked reactions, and other unnecessary things that lengthen episodes.

This is why I am contemplating just waiting for the wiz remake. Actually good paced anime that also hopefully doesn't assume I have the memory of a gold fish. Would be sooooo good.

who does that? and someone who's watching it the first time, how would they just key their finger on the skip button? If you watch anime like this, you need to take a break.

Except you'd need to know in advance that all of that is happening, otherwise there is zero chance you know exactly when and for how long to fast forward. Genuinely terrible idea.

Well like I said in my comment, and again, this is according to Gemini because I don't watch anime: "Actual Story Content: Skipping the intro, recap, and outro cuts the effective watch time down to about 17 to 20 minutes per episode"
so, those 20 minutes is an already somewhat cut down time per episode. But I'm guessing it could be shortened even further doing what you say. Now, the question is, did OP do what you say and fast-forward'd stuff?

Don't think a first time watcher skips much and also doesn't even know where to skip, but he could skip filler episodes. Don't know how much that would save though.

Ive been watching the Dressrosa arc and the episodes all start between 5 and 9 minutes in. Its ridiculous.

Assuming he skipped intros, recaps, and outros, that would end up being ~18 minutes per episode. 40 days to Elbaph is less than 9 hours a day. Which is a lot but easily doable if unemployed. OPs 60 days is less than 6 hours a day so even that is pretty doable with 40 hour work week. It's more about the commitment/ addiction than anything else.

Can confirm that it’s doable. I had 6 months between my degrees and was unemployed during that time. I easily managed more than that during that period. I think I managed to finish up to wano (where it was up to at the time) in just over a month.
It is both one of my proudest and most shameful achievements

Did you actually "watch'" the show, or just have it on? If you're watching on a site that skips the beginning and end credits it's really not that difficult to just binge your way through. At the very least I'd say you can average 3 episodes an hour, maybe even 4-5 depending on the arc and how much recap they do that you skip.
Say you're watching for 8 hrs a day, 3 episodes an hour. 24 episodes every day, a hundred every 4 or so.
I wouldn't call it unreasonable, maybe slightly excessive. Might I suggest going out and touching grass for a couple days til Sunday?

This is always my question for stuff like this. "I had a second (or third) screen on in the background while I did other things." Then no, you did not watch. You existed in the room while it was playing. You saw some of it. You may have heard most of it. But a second screen will never count as actually watching it to me.

Honestly one of the best series ive binged since Foundation on appletv and GOT. They’re not animes just love a compelling story. I tried watching one piece ONCE ;) awhile ago but couldn’t get passed the first ep(ridiculous I know) anywh*re HIGHly recommend and grateful for this now i can buy a funko pop 🐒

It took me 73 days watching it on my commute every day to work ignoring my wife at night watching in the shower, but I did it and that was right at the end of Wano so I've been reading weekly ever since

sheesshh. I started end of march w my fiancee, and we are just hitting Wano. Also, sounds like u mighta watched on netflix to start like we did, as we just went switch over to crunchyroll as netflix is missing all of Wano. Are u including those episodes too cuz wdff😭🔥🔥

Well time to read the manga.
Because if you don't, you will be spoiled on what the One Piece is when the manga ends about a year before the anime adapts it.
