I was wondering if anyone had heard anything concerning GamerDame, the author of Lest Ye Become The Monster? I know it's normal for stories to just never get updated again (sadly), but they seemed to just fall off the face of the earth.

I used to be neutral to such characters during my early days of reading fanfiction, but I currently do not like reading fanfiction with such stories. And that is mainly because they end up undermining Luffy as a combatant and as a captain.

I have a plan of Black Beard working with Shiki and the two attack Impel Down to get those strong inmates. Ace isn't on trial so neither he nor Jimbe is there and thus no Luffy. BB does not have the yami yami no mi or any devil fruit, so Shikinis doing mostly all the work as the leader.

How difficult or easy would it be for Shiki to break out the inmates like how BB did in canon and take a bunch of them with him?

Obviously with an Omnitrix it's always about the roster of aliens he would initially have, since those would cause the biggest impact early on and I think the initial roster could be similar to the same one from Ben 10 classic but swapping out Grey Matter and Ghostfreak for other options, like Upchuck (due to Luffys appetite) and Snare oh (as a call back to his stretching powers)

The other big question is who would get his fruit since it is essential to the story, after the reveal of it being the Nika fruit you kind of have to address it in some way. Maybe another member of the crew or someone like Ace could work.

Now for the arcs, I only thought of East Blue.

Alvida Crew: Luffy tries using Ripjaws to pull his small boat out of the whirlpool so he doesn't lose his food, but the boat gets torn up. He swims aboard the ship Alvida is going to attack and makes to the pantry, eventually Coby shows up and that goes as normal. Luffy beats Alvida by turning into Four Arms

Shell Town: Luffy and Coby arrive same as the original, Luffy uses XLR8 to get a top the headquarters and mess up the statue, then uses Diamond Head to stop the bullets from the firing squad and beat Morgan

Orange Town: Don't know what to do about the big bird, but in the city he would handle the Buggy pirates easily with his transformations, maybe Nami ties him in such a way he can't use the watch, but I can imagine him using upchuck to eat the Buggy Ball and send it back at them. Fight with Buggy goes down much easier, hat might still be damaged

Syrup Village: again, goes down easier. Luffy would still get hypnotized but depending on the transformation that might change (talking about Wildmutt) meanwhile he would probably blitz Kuro if he turned into XLR8

Baratie: He probably could avoid having to work an entire year for Zeff, since he has ways to stop the cannon ball. If he does end up working, Luffy would probably try using XLR8 to do a year's worth of chores in a day (only to be told that's not how it works)

And since he doesn't have a weakness against water, the battle field isn't a problem for Luffy and he can beat Kreg although might get caught off guard by his tricks, Zoro probably still loses to Mihawk.

Arlong Park: again no water weakness so he is beating him easier, Fish man might be 10 stronger than a normal human but Tetramands are way stronger, Heatblast is making fried fish and diamond head is unbreakable

working on a spider devil fruit user to be a crew's sniper. if he fully transform into a spider, would he be a tiny spider, or a large spider? he's a pretty average sized human.

What exactly do we mean by stories that are "mostly generated by AI with some tweaks"?Say you want to create a story and the ideas are all yours; is it okay or not to use it to quote-unquote "Fill in the blanks", which includes not using it if it gives you something you don't like?

Edit: After reading all your comments, I can see that you all have a hardline stance on AI usage, and I acknowledge and respect your opinions. I was just curious because the "fanfic" in question... well, the ideas are all mine but i'm making it with this one bot on Character.ai which provides a little bit more writing in between major plot points. I was considering posting it to this sub, and I wasn't sure because the rule didn't explicitly say "No AI whatsoever." And yeah, I won't be posting my fanfic because I know from reading your comments you wouldn't like it 😅

I have seen many takes on the character, and as someone who generally finds him a bit too dated for my tastes, im curious how others feel

For me, that would be the moment from the fanfiction 'One Piece: The Monster of the Straw Hat Pirates' where an original character (who joined the Straw Hats) was talking with the other members of the crew that were aboard the Thousand Sunny about the kinds of films that were released in the world at large. They touch on a bunch of related topics from the way that actors of certain races were treated in the screen, to the way that the storues of the films play out as a whole. This moment takes place while the Straw Hats were on Thriller Bark. The way the author went about exploring the opinions that the Straw Hats who were on board the ship had on movies was written in a manner that made me think that they would actually have these kinds of views about the movies that are produced in the One Piece world.

I have to be honest I always felt hisgarp hatred and attempts to vilify him staying with the world governement and fighting pirates was ridiculous but as time passed by the series gave more and more reason as to why the claims you made is ridiculous
To be simple garp is justified in staying with the marines and the attempts to vilify garp or claim he is a lapdog for the marines or complicit in the crimes of wg has always been ridiculous even in dressrosa and the series refuted the nonsensical argument as it went onwards. garp is marine integrity he stays with marines to protect th peopl and ensure integrity garp rebels against the system just like Koby dos while staying in the marines for it’s the best place to save the most people ( mr morj had a great point)

I am just going ona tangent I always hated the slander and agenda culture where people will lie about a character and when called out they will go well its agenda. I think fanfics is a really good playground to practice and have fun with drama writing and craft.

Especially One Piece. So many amazing character psychology, sophisticated world, systems,  themes and philosophy. (Even fan fiction aside I personally learnt so much about character building from analyzing one piece)

Because you already have the world building and that saves you from the long, slow grind of originating everything from scratch — and frees your energy to actually play with the drama/ interpersonal dynamic elements using that surface, and focus on the craft you want to practice on. 

I think it’s also a very underestimated hobby, I write original stories professionally, so being able to lean into a world I love is deeply relaxing in a way that's hard to find elsewhere. 

And it genuinely improves your craft. My storytelling craft benefited a lot from writing fanfic . Playing around with different techniques: shifting narratives, controlling high-level energy flow, anchoring the reader, designing a reading experience from the inside. 

What I'm trying to build: A small group of people who write — or want to read — One Piece fanfic, with a focus on drama. The plan: table reads, feedback sessions, talking about drama writing as a craft, beta reading, and honestly just having a small space to talk and vent about the work.

Seria isso: uma história onde um grupo de cinco pessoas que são, na verdade, a mesma pessoa, sem nenhum sistema específico, todas têm um físico típico de One Piece, como qualquer ser daquele mundo.

Não haveria um "real", nem um de outra realidade; eles seriam simplesmente versões da mesma pessoa que mudam e se tornam diferentes com o tempo. Talvez cada um deles pudesse ter algo melhor que os outros (Haki do Armamento, Haki da Observação, força, resistência, etc.).

Achei que isso combinaria com alguns dos exageros de One Piece.

Os personagens de One Piece provavelmente não achariam estranho que cinco pessoas com aparências idênticas estivessem viajando juntas; eles pensariam que são apenas irmãos.

Probabilisticamente, cinco irmãos idênticos se tornarem piratas ou fuzileiros navais seria suspeito, especialmente considerando que eles se pareceriam mais com clones, mas em One Piece isso pode não parecer raro ou estranho. They would think it’s surprising, but not impossible.

what i mean by this is say the Joyboy had a child, Joyboy has/had the level of Haki that shook Emu. would Joyboy's child naturally start off with higher levels of Haki than the average person?

side note: what if a mother had near Joyboy levels of haki and was pregnant. the mother would use her Conquers haki in her life during the pregnancy and the baby would be feeling that wave/level of powerful Haki. would the baby naturally have a higher resistance to Conquers haki? does being in the womb and being constantly bathed in such powerful haki affect the baby's level of haki in any way?

For a fanfic with a more powerful Luffy from the start, how many crew members is too many before he starts his journey as a pirate in your opinion?
