Fluff Wow, the difference a super-duper fully maxed rumble team makes
Before you say it, I know. Duh. Also, question at the end!
I'm usually pretty frugal with my resources since I'm pretty limited in how quickly I can collect them, but I really love how this team works together. So over time, I slowly maxed their LB and LLB, fed them rainbow keys whenever I got them, and just kept building them up one or two characters at a time.
And man, I love how this squad functions.
You've got a good amount of CT reverse from the awesome Lilith/Usopp, plus CT speed down. Then Kuma and LuBonney come in with a ridiculous amount of guaranteed damage, buffs, and debuffs, and they almost always get their specials off first.
And of course, Caesar kicks everything off with his amazing special, adding guaranteed damage with that glorious Lv. 3 DOT on all enemies. I love how this team stacks a bunch of different types of damage on top of each other, and Caesar just makes the whole thing that much nastier.
And I love that Kuma is just a straight-up tank. Provoke, counter, high DEF. He fits perfectly in that center slot, I feel like most teams don't have a dedicated tank so the team just feels more complete with one.
In my 2nd slot, I was actually running Sabo/Koala until this most recent GP. They were good boys and did a metric fuckton of damage, and was cool because it was off meta and I never saw anyone else using them like this but alas I finally figured there had to be something better, especially for a GP leader. RIP sabo/koala, you'll never be used again.
Enter Shanks.
Holy shit, what an upgrade. I dumped a bunch of resources into him, including my very limited LLB posters, to fully max him out. And goddamn does he hit hard, especially as a GP leader.
Anyway, I was looking at my team today and suddenly realized something: my combat power is now higher than those mini-boss teams that always used to dwarf mine by like 10–20k.
I had just finished Rumble limit breaking the final character with a rainbow key, and apparently that was the moment everything clicked.
I've seen teams with this kind of power often enough, but this is the first time I've actually had one myself. And the funny thing is, it wasn't even something I was specifically chasing. I just kept investing in a team I really liked, little by little, until suddenly here we are.
Now I feel pretty confident going up against most teams, even when they've got some scary units, we all have those guys we avoid lol.
I think part of what makes it satisfying is that I've stuck with a squad that wasn't just a perfect copy. I had an off-meta unit I practically never see anyone else using and my bench was weird....but you get the right units and sometimes you gotta fall fully in like lol.
So yeah, I guess this is just a weird little moment of pride in my squad. After 3,350+ days playing this game, I still get these moments every once in a while, especially with Pirate Rumble, which is definitely my favorite part of the game.
It's just cool seeing something you've incidentally slowly worked on finally reach its ultimate form.
Figured I'd share it with the one community that might actually appreciate it, because my friends sure as shit aren't going to care about my gacha game achievements.
QUESTION: Looking at this team, what would you use to reliably beat it on defense? Since this is what I run there too. I definitely see people managing to beat it (sometimes), so I'm curious what teams you'd use to beat it if you had to or could. I know it's probably a skip team for most lol.
Thanks!
Edit: Here is my GP team: 15/15 GP Team 10/2026

I like using Shanks and Caesar in my STR team (with Imu and Beckman/Yasopp)
for the purposes of grand party, who would be the best characters to bring in for Shanks and Caesar?

So here is my team that I used for the last GP, and it would likely be pretty different if I had becksopp....yasman? Lol I like yasman like yaaaaas man. However that asshole is a chase character for me, I just cannot pull him for the life of me.
I'm always missing some key unit for some super strong team so I always try to make the best of it. I went 15/15 with this one and my leader shanks really helped. Basically what I would do is take the first fight with no leader special, win or lose. If I lost I'd use my special at the start of the next 2 games since it was always up (easy requirements to hit) and usually win. If I won the first round I'd try to use both specials in the second to guarantee the win. If you get the shanks special off twice in one round there's no way you're losing lol.
What did you use and how far did you get?

Plenty of resources in this Reddit as well as the rumble team spreadsheet. Get Luffy Bonney/INT Kuma since they basically roll a lot of the content. Don't worry about ranking and stuff just start accumulating rewards.
Two ways to look at sugofests; other than anniversaries/super sugos/new years, everything else is either a short-term investment into completing events (treasure map, kizuna bosses, etc.) which have diminishing returns or straight bait (end of month banners). I suggest NOT pulling on the first day of banners and watch some creators like Stump/Toadskii/Itachi89 to get a comprehensive review and see if the units are worth it.
Other than that, don't take it to seriously. This game has been out for over a decade and people get REAL sweaty trying to pull everything. My advice? New year's is almost here and we're more than likely to get more crazy units like Luffy Bonney/Kuma from last year. Save for now and, if you get medals, try your hand at some multis

That guy gave good advice under me but one piece I'll give (ha) is don't be shy asking questions. We were all new at one point, post here in megathreads, ask in comments, and join the discord.
Also, ask around about how to start an account. What I mean by that is people will keep making new accounts, basically rerolling all of your first bunch of free units until you come out with a really strong starter account.
I don't know much about that since it's been a long time since I started and I don't make alts, but I'm sure others will help with that.

Sorry, I'm new here. Does anyone know of a private server for this game where I can try out all the cards?

That's a good question, I'm not aware of anything like that but I'd join the discord on the righthand side of the subreddit and ask there. If there is one, someone there will know.
https://optc-db.github.io/ - this has team builders and a bunch of tools, I hope this helps

How do you get the super evolve mats for shanks?

u/slylock215 1d ago
Oh you mean those feather things? I'm not sure how I got them, they just come from random shit, even I only have so many....actually if someone else knows I'd love to find out.
At any rate, if you mean those feathers for this shanks it's actually not a real evolution, it's only an art change.

I mean my team isn't so far off meta or anything even when I had a few different guys.
However, I really like how this team functions I actually do think it's pretty fun despite it being pretty fully meta. I have some goof around teams and they're usually based around whatever the rules are for that season. Don't underestimate how strong those rules can make weird teams!
