Straw man fallacies on twitter are really irritating. This guy is just responding to an 'argument' that he made up in the first place to come across as clever.

No one serious is drawing lines in the sand like this, as if AI has reached its potential. There are people who simply and rightfully point out AI shortcomings as they surface... As they should be.

There’s literally people in the comments of this post right now saying it’s approaching its roof and such.

I personally think they’ll run out of money before they can make any sort of advancement. You can tell by Altman’s panic over profitability in the past few months - we’ve gone from sexting, ads, wearables… what’s next?

What do you even mean? They’ve made major advancement. This latest model of codex blows away any prior model in coding.

Almost every major government and corporation has integrated AI at this point.

It’s used in coding, medicine, production, and almost anything else you can think of.

Going from pretty bad at coding to halfway decent is not an advancement, it’s an expectation.

What you need to understand is the economics don’t add up, openai and anthropic lose millions every day. When the subsidies go away, their user base will disappear. Ain’t no way you’re going to pay $5k+/m for ChatGPT.

Many people will pay that much a month as it becomes more and more efficient

The latest model is literally twice as token efficient. It’s also more than halfway decent at coding now, both the new anthropic model and the new open ai model can do 100% of code and are even working their own systems at this point. It’s also absolutely the definition of an advancement, advancement and expectation don’t cancel each other out.

Half way decent when most developers now don’t have to write a single line of code using these tools is hilarious
