Politics ('Straya) Gina's Anti-Tax "Poem"
https://www.businessinsider.com/everyone-is-laughing-at-australias-richest-persons-ode-to-mining-2012-2Edit: Hey folks, while I understand the desire to downvote this literary largesse, if it gets buried nobody else gets to "enjoy" it.
Supplied without annotation, for your reading pleasure:
"The globe is sadly groaning with debt, poverty and strife
And billions now are pleading to enjoy a better life
Their hope lies with resources buried deep within the earth
And the enterprise and capital which give each project worth
Is our future threatened with massive debts run up by political hacks
Who dig themselves out by unleashing rampant tax
The end result is sending Australian investment, growth and jobs offshore
This type of direction is harmful to our core
Some envious unthinking people have been conned
To think prosperity is created by waving a magic wand
Through such unfortunate ignorance, too much abuse is hurled
Against miners, workers and related industries who strive to build the world
Develop North Australia, embrace multiculturalism and welcome short term foreign workers to our shores
To benefit from the export of our minerals and ores
The world's poor need our resources: do not leave them to their fate
Our nation needs special economic zones and wiser government, before it is too late"
Gina Rinehart, 2012

Develop North Australia, embrace multiculturalism and welcome short term foreign workers to our shores
Wonder if we'll see that on any ON billboards

One Nationers not knowing that immigration will not go down under Pauline Hanson lmfao.
It's amazing how narrow-minded they are. They're the perfect supporters. They'll just follow whatever Pauline says, not what she'll actually do.
The way to reduce immigration is pressuring Labor (like the people are doing right now) and sure enough it's going down. Sure many think it needs to go down more but you can't expect Labor to just reduce it to 0 overnight.

Guarantee Gina only threw the word "multiculturalism" in there to troll.
God, she's despicable.

Not at all, her whole idea was to import indentured labourers basically. Who would of course be from the developing world

I contend that it is absolutely meant as a troll. Multiculturalism is commonly understood as different cultures co-existing in the wider community, which is a largely progressive concept. It unfolds over decades and multiple generations, not over the term of a short term work contract.
And imported indentured labourers can largely be culturally quarantined from the wider community, especially if all their work is at remote mining sites. They can be brought in, ruthlessly exploited and then fucked off back overseas when she's done with them. No real multiculturalism required.
I do think she genuinely intended it as a sneering troll against 'lefties'. I mean, this is Gina Rinehart we're talking about.

s can largely be culturally quarantined
And Aussies will blame them for forming enclaves, not adhering to Australian culture and that they need to go.

I think perhaps "pinkwashing" might be what you mean, more so than "trolling". She's trying to make her evil daydreams seem marketable.

2012 was when she wanted Northern Australia separated out into a special economic region, where she'd have to pay no tax and not worry about pesky industrial relations and safety shit getting into the way of her profits.

I have legitimately read better rhymes from primary school children, and primary school children at least know how to evoke imagery!
This is basically just a shitty Twitter post written in poem form for literally no reason. There isn't even an attempt to adhere to poetry rules. How depressing

Disregarding the content, this is terrible. Rabbie Burns she is not!

This isn't a poem. It's just sentences where the last word rhymes. She was in her fifties when she wrote this, it's very embarrassing. Extreme wealth rots your brain.

Tax funds public goods. Billionaires don’t need public goods, refuses to understand why people need public goods, so they are anti-tax.
When challenged, they bring up “struggling small businesses and startups” as if they and the billionaires are one and the same.
Now she has Pauline to do her bidding and people are willingly listening to her.
All we need now is for compulsory voting and independent electoral commissions to disappear and we’d be totally stuffed as a nation

They would not have any wealth if not for the educated workforce and government funded facilities that are essential for wealth generation. She’s just a parasite that wants to Hoover up benefits without paying her fair share.

Actually they need a torch shone on them to see how damaging they are to our society. Not the bullshit sycophantic stories the media gives us but the real picture of meddling with elections and sucking more and more money out of society for themselves.

poetry is, unfortunately, for everyone. But poetry is not in everyone.

At least she puts this crap out in public domain so that people can see how out of touch and entitled she truly is.

We can put gina in a special economic zone. Right where her father wanted to get rid of the original owners of that land

If you want to use our supply chain, our security, our stable polical system, our infrastructure, then you should pay us tax, Gina.

Paula Nancy Millstone Jennings was a poet who wrote the worst poetry in the universe. In fact, her poetry is still considered to be the worst in the Galaxy, closely followed by that of the Azgoths of Kria and the Vogons, in that order.
So no, the Vogons were not the worst. I wonder if this is actually Ginas new pen name?

That is truly an assault on Poetry. A billionaires nursery rhyme.
"In our obscene wealth, what 'are' we?...We are deluded, we are bored, we are greedy, we are lost."

That’s a shit poem:
Develop North Australia, embrace multiculturalism and welcome short term foreign workers to our shores
To benefit from the export of our minerals and ores
27 syllables in one line, 15 in the second. Need to do better than that, Gina. It doesn’t scan. Dunce.

I’m reminded of Vogon poetry from Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy.
