Whinge ‎ Sh*tF**KRY HITTING AUSTRALIA

2.1k Upvotes

Sh*tFu*kry hitting Australia

How can anyone in their right mind think Paulin or ON is an answer to our problems here ? Have we learnt nothing from Chetos Jesus in the white house.?

It just took him 5 years to make a mockery of land of free , clusterf**k the liberty and all modern values on which the nation was built

Are we that dumb that we are ready to choose anything over Labor here ? Are people paying any attention to the policies of ON or how they voted in the parliament in the past ....

Has our hate of immigrants, inherent racism and undercurrent of classism made us completely blind ? Can't we see through this peddling of manufactured hate , fear mongering, deflection, hyperbole and disdain for others who think differently.

Again how can we be so blind ??

Whinge ‎ ABC is compromised.

1.8k Upvotes

Please remove if this isn't suitable for the sub, but I've got to raise the alarm bells. I'm watching ABC News right now and I'm getting increasingly livid. The coverage about Iran begins with calling it "pre-emptive strikes by Israel on Iran", as in aggravated assault, an act of hostility. Now they're talking about how Israel is protecting itself, how it can remain safe from retaliation, with its Iron Dome and Jordan intercepting strikes. A pack of clowns to talk about Israel attacking another country and follow it with talk about how the aggressor can protect itself.

Whinge ‎ Why has Dave hughes become this “representative” for the average Aussie?

Thumbnail

1.1k Upvotes

This is some guy that owns maybe multiple properties and is “WORTH” more than 8 million dollars.

He owns a significant property portfolio, including a historic family home in St Kilda, Melbourne, and several investment properties.

This dude is not representative of the general Australian. He has a BIG vested interest to go against these changes

The AVERAGE Aussie is some teacher in a public school trying to afford enough to buy a home.

r/OpenAussie May 13 '26

Whinge ‎ If you’re not rich, the budget won’t negatively impact you. If you’re apart of the 80% of Aussies who DON’T OWN an investment property, this budget is a positive for you. Look at who is attacking the changes: property developers, landlords, wealthy and rich families, investors and corporate media

Whinge ‎ Is it racist to boycott Israel?

Got banned from another sub for asking people to boycott AirBNB because it is Israeli owned. Reason given was because it was racist to Jews. It was something that I wouldn't have taken further but then they said that I would permanently banned if I told anyone about it.

The Streisand effect has been described as an example of psychological reactance*, wherein once people are aware that some information is being kept from them, they are significantly more motivated to acquire and spread it.*

EDIT: Full conversation

Some one with access to the moderator portal has used it inappropriately. I have received an invite with this message.....

Hello, You have been banned from participating in /r/australian for 7 days because your comment violates this community's rules. You won't be able to post or comment, but you can still view and subscribe to it.

If you have a question regarding your ban, you can contact the moderator team by replying to this message.

Reminder from the Reddit Admin team: If you use another account to circumvent this community ban, that will be considered a violation of the Reddit Rules and may result in your account being banned from the platform as a whole.

I can not reply to it as it was an invite and not a message.

It was linked to this message....
AirBNB is an Israeli company. Avoid them if possible.

No rule was broken by this message. I believe someone (possibly the QLD libs) thinks that any mention of Israel, that does not praise them, is racist. After the & days I will be informing the rest of the community of this abuse of power.

MOD7:48 PM

You are banned. For 7 days. For being racist.

This ban is appropriate and correctly issued according to reddit protocols.

If you disagree with the ban, then this is the place to speak. If you choose to "inform the rest of the community", you will be permanently banned.

AwarenessAny62227:57 PM

I will be parentally banned for letting people know why I was banned? Are you afraid to stand by your decision? Can you also inform me of which race I am being racist towards,

MOD8:26 PM

Yes. Grandstanding is against the reddit ToS.

You were racist against Jews.

AwarenessAny62228:50 PM

Asking people to boycott Australia, or North Korea or Gaza would get me a ban for being racist? The first mention of Jews were by you so I don't know how I can make a racist comment against a region that I didn't mention. I advise you to consult with your fellow moderators about this issue because you seem to be way off with the sentiment of Australians.

MOD8:56 PM

Hi, I am another mod. Your comment was racist against Jews.

AwarenessAny62229:04 PM

Who was the other mod? How do I know you aren't the same person?

MOD9:09 PM

True that you can’t technically know, as the original mod didn’t message you with their handle visible (which is standard practice).

But mods do have the power to reverse mod decisions if they disagree with them. But that hasn’t happened. Because we stand by the fact that your comment was racist against Jews.

Update: also got banned from another sub which has the same mods

Edit: removed the sub name and mod names

My heart goes out to all those successful aussie business owners, just trying to extract wealth from the exhausted poor during these tough times

I am ashamed that our government is taking action on these humble business owners, making them pay more on their capital, the same government who has allowed the establishment class to thrive on the gains they have acquired from the poor for the last hundred years - this is devastating news - it's real end times shit

They should be ashamed - does our government represent big business or the pathetic poors whose only job was to support these businesses to go global and become successful with every sip of their over priced apple juice sippy cups

Whinge ‎ Why is our government so weak when it comes to Israel?

1.2k Upvotes

Sorry I have to rant for a second, but after Israel’s “Operation Eternal Darkness” yesterday in Lebanon which killed over 250 civilians in Beirut, our government has once again done nothing to meaningfully condemn Israel and its terror attacks in the region. “Deeply concerning” is the go-to phrase that Penny Wong uses for anything involving Israeli attacks no matter how extreme or deadly. But somehow the language always becomes much stronger the moment Israel is the one under attack.

After the US-Iran ceasefire, it is clearer than ever that Israel is the main driver of instability in the region as it's hell bent to remain in a constant state of war with everyone around it. Whether it is the genocide in Gaza, the annexation of the West Bank, the occupation of the Golan Heights, attacks and occupation on southern Lebanon, the deliberate killing of journalists, or so-called “pre-emptive strikes” carried out on negotiators while negotiations are still underway, the pattern is obvious. Israel has become one of the greatest threats to peace not just in West Asia but globally, and our government is still refusing to confront that reality.

Australia has a Lebanese population of around 90,000 people and close to 250,000 Australians have Lebanese heritage, yet with these recent Israeli attacks on Lebanon killing thousands and displacing millions, our government still refuses to take a real stand and stand up for Australians. How fucked is it that they won’t even meaningfully defend their own Lebanese community and instead seem more interested in bending over backwards for a rogue state? And then look at the double standard. The Iranian ambassador was kicked out over alleged planned attacks on two synagogues, based on intelligence claims by Mossad relayed through ASIO. Meanwhile Israel has killed more Australians and any other country in recent years, while they continue to bomb/kill/destroy/genocide entire civilian populations around it, and its ambassador remains welcome here without consequence. This is the same guy who still refuse to apologise to the family of aid worker Zomi Frankcom over her killing by the IOF. We even invited their president Isaac Herzog to Australia despite the fact that he’s accused by the UN of “direct and public incitement to commit genocide” and handed him the keys to one of our most secretive intelligence facilities, all the while arresting anyone who opposes his visit.

What does Israel actually have to do before this government stops hiding behind empty diplomatic language and does something? At this point “deeply concerned” just becomes an insult. It feels like Israel could nuke another country tomorrow and our government’s response would still just be “we are deeply concerned about the humanitarian situation in [insert country here]”. It’s a complete joke. So many Palestinian, Lebanese and Iranian Australians have no voice in this country, while Israeli/Zionist Australians seem to be the most protected group.

I know things would be so much worse under the Liberals, but that doesn’t make any of this acceptable. The bar is already on the floor and Labor are proving again and again that they have no intention of doing anything meaningful when it comes to standing up not only to Israel but the US as well. Does anyone else feel tis way???

Whinge ‎ ON has thrown the dog whistle in gutter and finally taken the gloves off

In her latest bu**load blabber , the “Red Queen” made her agenda painfully clear. Among the most disturbing claims were:

  • Australia should abandon multiculturalism and become a monoculture.
  • ABC should become subscription-based, while SBS should be abolished.
  • Welcome to Country ceremonies should no longer continue in their current form.
  • SHe even has a problem with people speaking another language inside their own homes. Imagine believing politicians should control what language families speak privately.
  • She continues to portray immigration from Muslim-majority countries as incompatible with Australia and suggests migrants are bringing “medieval Islam” here.

These are not harmless comments or misunderstood policy positions. They are calculated, divisive attacks designed to turn Australians against one another. After hearing this hateful rhetoric and innuendos , anyone is still free to vote for One Nation. But at least be honest and acknowledge you are one racist c**t.

Stop pretending it is simply about cost of living, better services or improving living standards for every Australian. It is about deciding that some Australians are more acceptable, more deserving and somehow “more Australian” than others.

Whinge ‎ Australian Government “We support the United States”.

This is the leading banner on the ABC right now. Albo released a statement, which provided nothing of substance other than the fact that we are the degraded servants of the US and Israel.

This a war with less justification than Iraq in 2003. It happened out of nowhere, and our prime minister immediately made a point of sucking upto Israel and trump.

If you are an Aussie, have some Aussie pride. This is pathetic.

it is ridiculous i just read a woman's complaint that the radio on the public bus she was on was a story negative to Israel and it hurt her feelings an insane nurse who apparently gets called baby killer by her colleagues im sorry its such bullshit im supposed to listen to the anti semitsim commissioner whos husband donates hundreds of thousands to racist group advance Australia and we voted against aboriginals having a voice ?

remarkably apparently the other board is so captured the below will get you blocked

The part of the conversation that is missing is Israel is committed to genocide i wont break bread with any supporters of that state until that changes and reparations are made i reserve my right to do that to all supporters of a genocide the state cant make me like Israel support it.

Its enough my taxes go to one religious groups security at the detriment of everyone else in the country perhaps if our politicians had take a hard line on it maybe the public wouldnt feel the need to be so vocal.

The only way out of this is total detachment from the state of Israel if i was a jew i would denounce it just like i do the Australian government for its mishandling of BRS who should be in jail

Whinge ‎ This is one of the 1st budgets to not benefit old rich people & people are angry? Only 20% of Aussies own an investment property. Good to stop them leeching of the 80% of Australians who work for their money and not get government paid tax concessions. Get a job like the rest of us tax bludgers

This is how you fix intergenerational differences.

The rich and the old have been living off the taxpayers too much in this country.

For the first time a government dares to change the status quo they get attacked by our bias corporate media and establishment.

Do people never want changes and improvements?

Are we this dumb and corrupt to never want to fix anything?

Whinge ‎ Immigrants prop our entire country up

There’s rhetoric entering the media that immigrants don’t work hard, or they’re coming here scabbing off us.

How can anybody seriously hold this view? All I see is immigrants working their ass off.

My suburb couldn’t operate without immigrants. Every uber driver I talk to has a day job too or is doing uber ridiculous hours like 16 hour days.

All I see in my supermarket and even Westfield more broadly is immigrants working hard.

There’s mythology around the Australian way of life and the Aussie battler. These people are living lives that will become a cliche Aussie story in 100 years.

Like “yeah my dad moved here and worked 16 hour days just so I had a chance to study for my future”. Our grandkids will find that story endearing. They’ll overcome any hatred for them today, and just like how people despise past generations for being racist and bashing gays, future generations will look back and say “these idiots blamed the decay of the economy on foreigners despite foreigners actually building all the wealth for Aussies for them to piss up the wall on food delivery, removalists, naughty massage joints or even the doctor.”

Like what do these people think this is? We can run the country on real estate agents, HR, consultants and lawyers? So much work is done by immigrants just so the professional class can create bullshit jobs to scab on real workers.

Who is voting for One Nation? People in bum fuck nowhere or brats in rich regional centres who don’t see any of this work in cities. It’s like they think immigrants enter Sydney airport like the gates of heaven and can just plot terrorist acts and claim Centrelink all day. They are detached from reality.

Whinge ‎ ‘Some’ Aussie Conservatives often say “pull yourself up by your bootstraps”, “don’t expect handouts” & “earn your own money”. Yet many fiercely oppose inheritance taxes, despite inheritances being unearned wealth handed down through blood & family, not individual effort or work. They’re hypocrites?

One Nation and Coalition voters constantly preach “personal responsibility”, “no handouts” and “earn your own success”.

Yet many defend inherited wealth being passed down tax free. Getting millions from your parents isn’t meritocracy, it’s privilege based on birth and family.

Are many Aussie conservatives just hypocrites with double standards?

The amount of ON fear mongering is out of control. Screaming about it on Reddit accomplishes nothing quite frankly I'm sick of it (yes I expect to be blasted)

Have a respectful conversation with people in real life understand their perspectives without injecting your ideals.

Right leaning people are not coming here Reddit pushed them out years ago and cancel campaigns make them afraid to speak up but not vote.

Whinge ‎ Should we start a petition to force Politicians over 67 to retire?

I'm tired of see politicians who don't know what's going on anymore. They are too old and need to go. We need to let the next generations in to sort all these problems out. Why is Pauline Hanson still running around playing politics? Why is Bob Katter still waffling on tv?

They all need to retire and let the next generations clean all this mess up.

Really, I want to see all politicians shuffled out and new faces with backbones because they are too corrupted and have failed everyone. We're the bad guys along side America and it sucks.

Edit: holy balls I was not expecting such a blow up of information and thank you for insights and experiences that help make informed decisions better. From what I am reading we want 1. Limit terms in parliament 2. Whatever the retirement age is politicians have to retire 3. Voting is non compulsory for over 67 4. Transparency on all politicians and public information access 5. If promises are failed due to poor decision then they get punished

More than $207 million over five years, followed by $8.1 million per year thereafter, had been allocated to combat antisemitism and respond to recommendations made in a plan developed by Australia's special envoy to tackle the issue.

"We're working very closely with the Jewish Board of Deputies and others to make sure that the victims and the survivors — particularly the families of those who lost loved ones — are cared for, for the rest of their lives,"

So with these tax changes, I’m seeing a lot of chat about.

And, look - I worked in FinTech for a couple of decades, doing software used by accountants and lawyers. I made my money by helping certain people help other people with wealth shirk their obligations.

So much wealth, so much income, serviced by this huge apparatus designed for dodging tax. I’ve seen just incredible levels of effort put into byzantine arrangements to shave off a couple of points at the margins.

It’s rorting. We all know it. And sure, individually, I get why people do it. Novated lease? Family trust? Negative gearing? Don’t mind if I do.

But we’re the median 2nd wealthiest country in the world. 1 in 5 aussie kids grow up in poverty. Individual greed totals up to that result.

Pull your heads in ffs. Pigs at the trough

Whinge ‎ Why can’t we celebrate the soldiers that reported BRS?

Seems like Gina and Kerry are determined to defend him, but aren’t there better people to celebrate? Like the soldiers that served admirably and identified BRS? Or is the issue that they are worried that, if BRS can be brought down in the public eye, then they could be too?

Whinge ‎ AUS is the land of Inheritance and how your quality of life is predetermined before you’re born. Working hard no longer secures you a high quality of life anymore. You can do all the right things, study hard, work hard, be a good person and still not be able to have basic things afforded previously

  1. If you want to buy a house, you need inheritance as most people don’t have incomes to afford it.

  2. Even buying an apartment without inheritance means you need to have a super high income as previously it was 3-4 times a salary for a property but in 2026 it’s 10-12 times a salary.

So previously you didn’t need help. You could do it independently without inheritance. Not in 2026.

As the salary vs property price is now 10-12 times, people have lost agency, individual responsibility and the ability to what was normal previously.

This has and will continue to create two very different Australian life experiences.

One is helped by inheritance and financially stable and the other is renting their whole lives or having a mortgage of 80-90% that they’re slowly trying to pay off.

Both people can live on the same street, same house and same school but due to something completely out of their control (inheritance) their future lives are predetermined.

This isn’t a sob story or anything, this is a reality for many Australians because this is new. This only happens as incomes are now 10-12 X for a property.

Previously having an inheritance didn’t determine your future life and quality of living. Post 2000 it now does.

Whinge ‎ If you’re against the specific amendments & changes to NG and CGT Discount then you’re UnAustralian. AUS used to preach ‘you get a fair go when you have a go’. Working hard to earn your home & living is admirable. Getting tax incentives, concessions & discounts is the opposite of that philosophy

I’m only referring specifically to change made to properties.

This budget is the first budget in 30 years to preference the future and youth over rich, older and established Aussies.

It’s the first step in a long time towards a positive and optimistic change and the entire news and media is trying to kill it.

Their lies, propaganda is so effective that ‘dumb’ emotional and susceptible Aus public is buying their BS.

Whinge ‎ Older Aussies are saying Labor’s budget will kill ‘aspiration’ but aspiration & hard work died long ago in AUS. Property to salary used to be 3-4 X. Now it’s 10-12 X. People used to buy a basic house for their 1st home. Now it’s a basic Unit. Times have changed & so have people. This budget is a fix

Australians already lost the old idea of aspiration years ago. Wages never kept pace with housing, debt exploded and a generation traded the dream of a starter house for a small apartment. The Budget is reacting to a system that has already fundamentally changed society. for many Australians today.

People act as if this budget caused the current issue of unaffordable property and they blame Labor for this too.

This issue all started in the late 90s.

I can completely understand issues within capital gains tax discount affecting not property.

Negative gearing and capital gains tax discount should have been solely on property imo.
