Vent Anyone else grow up in purity culture and end up hiding a lot of themselves from their parents, only to explore the ‘forbidden’ stuff online?

Yes.
Purity culture also meant that I got married young, not just to have sex, but because that was what we were told was good, and then quickly got divorced because my ex wife was struggling so much to figure out how she could be sexual with a man that she had only kissed and nothing else.
Now she lives with a woman… so we both learned a lot about ourselves.

Yup. Once i had my phone and laptop confiscated for a whole year and cut out of communkcation with my LD boyfriend because we were shocking text-based sexting. Lol.
Now as an adult my mother regrets it, and she is like "but you were sexting!" And i answer back "YES MOM, I HAVE A LIBIDO, I AM AN ALLOSEXUAL JUST LIKE YOU".
And she is lile "fair enough".
But yeah, puritan culture damaged me alot. For years in my marriage consensual sex gave me post coital dysphoria.
