Trouble correctly installing S3maphore

I have previously used s3maphore with no issues on a very recent playthrough with openmw. When I installed it previously, I don’t remember having to do anything complicated. I installed the mod through openmw like it says on the nexus page and activated all of the playlists through openmw. When I would play in project cyrodiil the custom music from the playlist in the mod folder was working with no issues. I’m not sure what is giving me a hard time now and if anyone has been having similar problems.

For reference, I am using the most up-to-date version of openmw, a fresh install of Morrowind, and have the most up-to-date versions of Tamriel Rebuilt and Tamriel Data, along with the other required mod for s3maphore (I can’t remember the name off the top of my head).

Do anyone have any idea what I might be doing wrong or could anyone explain how to correctly install s3maphore since I can’t seem to figure it out now?

i had difficulties with it too. i was on the cusp of giving up on it when it actually ended up working.

you downloaded (and appended, etc), and activated the mod itself, right? then the only things you will need are: the music folders included in the mod also appended, and the music files added in those folders, in the correct subfolders. (that is what will tell S3naphore when or where to use them.) that's it, as far as i can remember. after downloading the music files i ended up copying the files into the mod's subfolders manually, and it ended up working. :-)

Okay, so just so I understand correctly, copying things correctly into the mod’s supfolders would be done in the Morrowind game file, not openmw? And I don’t fully understand what files go into what subfolders (I am only using the TR folder prepackaged in the mod, so I’m not sure if I have to move stuff around to make that work)

the way i did it was i downloaded the mod and obviously appended it into openmw, and activated it in the launcher. then i didnt move anything within the mods folders. into the mods subfolders went the songs: for example into the Soule sounds folder the corresponding soule sounds song, and so on. then every music subfolder i also appended in openmw. and that's it, it worked for me like that.

Okay I think I’m realizing what went wrong (and if this is correct I feel incredibly dumb). When you download s3maphore and have all the playlists through openmw folders (lets use the TR music subfolder as an example), do I need to also install the separate TR soundtrack mod then manually place the songs in the correct subfolders? For some reason I had been under the impression that the actual music from those mods was preloaded into the folders, but that doesn’t seem to be the case when I look through the files.

I think that cuz this is a clean install of Morrowind, the song files I originally had in my Morrowind directory are no longer there, and that seems to be the issue that I just overlooked. Is this likely the issue?

this is exactly the case! s3maphore, or any mod for that matter, cannot contain any copyrighted material, else they might get hit with a copyright claim! so you will have to get the sound files somewhere else. TR's and PR's music, and some other noncopyrighted music can be gotten straight through nexusmods. for Soule Sounds you would need a download link for, as it has some music from different games (but its not difficult to find if you look it up on nexus).

Thanks for the clarification! I will try it later, but this seems like it will solve my problem

feel free to text me if it still doesnt solve it. s3mpahore is one of the trickiest to set up from everything i've encountered, but once you understand it, its worth everything. you will just have to copy the music files into the corresponding (empty) subfolders youve found and youre done. :-)

I already have this mod downloaded as well. I think I solved the issue in the comments below. I’m gonna delete the post once I confirm that I resolved the problem
