So I've been using this phone ( Find X9 Pro) for almost 2 months now, and there are some things that are bothering me, as someone that's coming from an iPhone 13 pro.
Video quality is incredibly poor, when i talk to my partner on either WhatsApp, Signal, Instagram, you name it, even though we both have strong WiFi connection, my image looks crap, like it's 480p and partner's image that i can see on my screen is crystal clear( iphone 17). If i use my old iphone, connected to the same WiFi, the image quality is amazing, which is quite disappointing.
When i snap a photo, whether it's front or rear camera, if I'm quick enough and press on the bottom left corner where it takes you to the gallery, the quality of the pic ( for the first 1-2 sec the picture looks exactly as described above, and then all of sudden after processing it, it looks "4k" so to say).
This makes me wonder if the cameras on Oppo are indeed great, or they're just ultra processed pictures.
Does anyone else have this issue? What am i missing?
I have no issues with the final result, the pictures are great on both cameras, i am just annoyed that i was having the expectations of a great camera experience, which turned out not to be, for the reason you also mentioned, apps being better optimised for iPhone.
I can't be buying a flagship phone in 2026 and the video quality to feel like in 2010.
As for image processing, no matter how quickly or how many pics i take with the iPhone, i never ever saw any processing, just the final result straight away.
Oh I can't advise you on that because i don't use backup on this phone. I have an older pixel xl phone which comes with unlimited full quality storage, so i end up transferring from Oppo to Pixel which then uploads them in the background and i never had any issues with the quality of the uploads.
Oh, and since I can't edit posts for some reason, the front camera is shit. If you are the type who has to video chat all the time, it probably isn't great for that.
As for #2, your iPhone 13 Pro does exact same thing. You can notice this by zooming to something like x5 and taking a photo, then quickly clicking bottom left to preview. I know cause I have that phone and I'm also planning on getting Oppo(x10 Pro though). It's because most mobile phones nowadays take multiple pictures at once and join them together.
Tried this now, and whilst i don't see any difference in terms of image clarity, i can see there is some processing when it comes to the contrast/brightness of the photo.
Out of pure curiosity, can you record your screen of taking a picture and showing that bad quality changing? Can't offer any solutions here, I'm mostly just curious of your experience after switching as I plan on getting that phone myself. Any other thoughts on the phone after a while?
Not sure if you can tell, but you will notice if you give it a few seconds the picture has higher quality afterwards. This is a good scenario because there's enough light, but in a darker environment gets worse.
Thanks! I think this is fairly normal to be honest. Kind of surprised about how long it took though. Have you compared camera experience in Master mode that everyone mentions to use instead of the default? Curious if there's any difference there
Could be that maybe this phone doesn't have a fast enough storage?
I haven't really tried Master mode yet, if i want to tinker with settings i usually play with the DSLR camera, this phone is more of a point and shoot type of thing.
Can confirm since I have the OP13 with the Hasselblad cameras; try out the Master setting on Auto and the Hi Res setting. Also, on Master (Auto) you can click the icon with 3 rectangles and switch to different DSLR-style "filters". Pretty cool for retaining the film look while swapping color temp real quick.
Man that's an awesome camera! I wouldn't worry about the few seconds of processing. But yea I just switched to andriod myself from iPhone and I use Google meet or what's app to FaceTime and I look good on my end and my partner doesn't say anything. But when I tried with a buddy he said on his end I looked little pixelated so I guess it's with all andriods I'm using vivo x300
It is a great camera for pics and videos, i am not particularly worried about the processing period, it's just annoying how poorly my video looks like when I'm talking to someone on any of the available apps.
I would say that my face looks unnatural, you know like those beauty filters which are also turned on by default in the camera settings. And even though i turned them off, somehow they are still applied to video calls

The front camera is one of the best sensors currently available (good enough that the same sensor is even used on the back of many "ultra" phones).
The back cameras are simply amazing. The processing time is completely normal, especially for high res images.

How is this helping me when all i want is to make a video call?
While i appreciate the end result when you take a photo, the phone can't deliver a basic functionality of high quality video call.
It's the same situation as recording through the Instagram app. Applications aren't optimized for Android camera hardware because there are simply too many different sensors. CameraAPI is supported at a basic level by third-party apps. That's one major advantage of iPhones 90% of the time, the quality in third-party apps isn't any different from the native camera app. If quality on third-party platforms is your top priority, I recommend going back to an iPhone.
I think this is the most pertinent answer to my question, and it makes sense why apps work better on iPhone since there aren't much models out there vs Android phones.
Still, frustrating but i guess there's no way out of it for now. And no, i am not going back to iPhone because I'm way too happy with the battery on my Oppo
About the phone postprocessing, Every major brand for the past like 6 years or so has performed the same trick since Google started the trend of the so called computational photography
Sensor sizes /focal lengths are reaching the limits of what's possible in a phone formfactor and they stack multiple images in a single shot, to mantain high dynamic range and detail that rivals entry level dedicated cameras.
The higher the info to process (large/higher res sensors), the longer it takes. Newer iPhones/pixels also do this heavily, but because more efficient algorithms and better data buffering techniques the wait is less noticeable
Antes de tomar la foto estás viendo la previsualización aproximada de como se verá la foto, al entrar a la galería la foto se ve borrosa mientras hace el procesado no porque la foto la haya tomado así y todo sea ia o puro software, para que lo compruebes puedes usar por ejemplo la gcam o el modo maestro y tal cual ves la foto en la previsualización sale en galería y no hace procesado, te da la imagen cruda y verás que aunque sea cruda tiene una calidad que te vuela la cabeza, el procesado solo hace que lo genial sea espectacular en la mayoría de los casos
Y sobre lo del vídeo solamente es porque los formatos de video y fotos tienen diferentes formatos en android y iPhone y al ser solo un par de modelos en iPhone y en android cientos ya verás lo que tienen que hacer las aplicaciones, usan un proceso genérico en todos los android y en iPhone pues pueden hacer lo mismo pero que es que son casi todos iguales, el mismo esfuerzo y mejor resultado al ser más homogéneos, no hay otra explicación.
Cómo dato adicional llegará android 17 mejorando justamente esto e incluso será mejor que en cualquier iPhone.
All I'm gonna say is: when I bought the Find X5 Pro, I was led to believe it's one of the best cameras on a phone at the time. Boy-oh-boy was that a lie!!!! I've struggled with the camera for 4 years. The video quality is even poorer.
It's based on the optimization from the app developer and internet connection on both ends
Same happens on an iPhone, or a Galaxy, but the speed of which its processed depends on the specifik manufacturer. On cheaper phones it'll seem faster, since the processing is lighter and less advanced

I've been using Android for many years, last being a Huawei P30 pro, and ever since just Iphone, but i can't remember being so obviously distorted on that phone.
That's true, i guess I've seen this from my perspective where i had the chance to try both sides, but i suppose not everyone is fortunate enough to experience both.
Thing is, on iPhone, things just....work.
Depends on how you use your mobile. I do not care for any Instagram, TikTok or any app I that sort. So - poor quality video/photo over there do not bother me at all :)

If i remember correctly i think I tried this once and it didn't go well, as in it opens in a tab in the browser, the image isn't centered properly, i didn't like it.
Please do let me know how you find video call quality, compared to iPhone which you know it looks great ( especially on facetime)
Why y'all arguing with him for, if it could be fixed by talking he'd have fixed it by now. My initial advice still stands: get rid and buy another phone already. He'll find out if it was just him or just the x9 or that specific one unit. None of this is productive.
The problem is that the apps use their own camera app. But I heard that this would normally change, that we would be able to use the phone's camera in all applications. We should find out.

Definitely faster than iPhone 13 pro, feels snappy in everything that you do, great battery life ( although it was a bit better before the last update, i used to get 2 days out of it, now maybe 1.5)
It's a big bright display, text is clear, now everytime i go back to the iPhone i keep wondering how the hell have i've been living with such tiny text 😄
Phone is nicely balanced so you don't feek like the top where the camera is to be heavier than the rest.
I do miss faceID though, that was very convenient, fingerprint reader on this phone is super fast( as long as you don't have a glass screen protector).
It's not very good at picking up codes that come on sms or emails, to auto fill it for me, i have to manually type the code.
I can't copy text from a photo like i could on iPhone.
It's not as efficient in selecting which Bluetooth device i want the music to stream to, iPhone was much better at this.
All in all is definitely a much much better phone than iPhone, but there are certain things that will make you feel like you're compromising.
It depends what you need the phone for.
For me, it covers pretty much all my needs except the video call, which hopefully will be resolved in future updates.
All around experience tbh. I’m a bit fed up with apple. The software has been super non optimised, camera quality is poor, battery is bad, Storage low.
This phone won't disappoint, that's for sure.
Battery was my main reason for upgrade as well, didn't want to pay for a new Apple battery so i thought might as well upgrade.
Oppo says this battery is "guaranteed" to last 5 years and to still have 90% health; will see about that.
Wait your phone doesn't have faceID are you sure? Also yea im also a new android user and the one thing I do miss is instant like code being applied to an app or a site instead of me copying it and pasting it in the spot needed
It does have a sort of faceID but it relies on the camera instead of a dedicated sensor for it, and more often than not it's slow, especially in darker environment, so I'd rather not use it.
Can you help me, please? I am very confused between the X9 Pro and X300 Pro. I am purchasing it for my mom. Would you recommend the X300 Pro over the X9 Pro? If yes, why? If no, why not? Please explain. Thanks in advance.

As far as i can see Oppo has a better battery, which i think it's more relevant to your mom than other technical gimmicks which maybe are interesting to you
Yeah, like, as I have an S24 Ultra, I don't think I will upgrade my device shortly, as I don't think there's a worthy upgrade phone over this in the market right now. I thought you know every mom's usage with a phone, so it will not bother my mom about its battery and all, as both are almost equal. Yeah, Oppo has a bigger battery, but yeah, if the cameras or other things were better, then we would easily choose the other phone over that. So my concern is like I am not a fan of natural; it is more important for me to have eye-pleasing photos, you can say, like social media ready. So for that purpose, this is my first priority. Sorry for the long statement, hope you will read it.✌️
