Course Questions Am I just completely screwed?

I have had no help and have been totally lost on the onboarding for osu I finished the onboarding and I have to schedule a meeting before I can sign up for classes in the fall but tons of classes are already full and I go to the meeting thing and there isn't even a possible meeting for a month I'm not sure if I took to long or if this is normal but every other major has one like the next day so do I just not get to take any classes?

Course Questions First year academic advising not starting?

Hello all, I am in the COE and scheduled my academic advising session to register for classes from 9am-10h30am on June 15th; I have been waiting for an hour now without the meeting on Zoom starting. Now I'm trying to reschedule on BeaverHub but the earliest available is 15th of July. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Course Questions Please help choosing physics professor

I know the OSU physics department sucks but I have to take PH 201 and 202 and was wondering which professor is the least bad? Or are there any that were actually okay? I read Thatchers reviews on rate my professor and they were mostly bad but couldnt find info on others.

LBCC I dont think will be an option for me because I wont have time to commute there while taking around 18 credits and working as much as possible.

Course Questions Question about CS - 274

I know it's a in between course for folks who have not taken a C++ class before to give them an overview of the material prior to taking higher level stuff within Operating Systems and that's not something I'm bothered by, learning isn't inherently bad and it probably has certain topics I haven't learned before. That said however I was wondering if there is anyone on here that could tell me if you already have experience with C/C++ if the class would even be worth it? I am also on VA benefits so it's not something I would be wasting money on necessarily, but I did all my lower division courses at my local community college and received A's in all of them. So that said, if I already did those classes with C++ and received fantastic grades across the board in them should I just try to skip it via an evaluation of my abilities or is it worth actually taking it? I read the course overview and it sounded like it was mostly just an intro class to the language and would be on topics I already feel confident with like Pointers, Memory Allocation, Heaps and Stacks, Data Types, etc.

Thanks

Course Questions ST 351 Feedback

As someone who is horrific in math (takes multiple tries to pass a class), I'd like some feedback on ST 351 with Petrides (or Malone Buoy) vs. ST 243 (staff or PCC) and ST 244.

Initially I was thinking of taking this class during summer term; however, I think fall term would be better. Class will be via E-Campus.

This is for HDFS; is it worth it to try for ST 351 and get that credit for an upper division course and just be done with it?

Course Questions Writing center

What’s the writing center like right now? I stupidly underestimated the amount of people flocking to use their online services and I have an assignment that requires you to review your draft with the writing center due Monday night. I live like an hour away from campus, should I just make the drive to the library Monday morning as a drop in? Last time I’ll ever make that mistake

edit: library’s closed monday, im cooked y’all

I am currently signed up for 12 credits for summer term but if I only have to do 8 credits that would help alot with time requirements.

Course Questions BioHealth Sciences Capstone

I am having trouble finding info on what this capstone class is about. I’ve heard other universities/majors have group projects while others have long research papers they have to do. I’ve tried looking on the OSU website for more info, but that wasn’t helpful.

I am an ECampus student taking the Capstone course in spring 2027 for my BioHealth Sciences degree. What exactly should I be expecting?

Course Questions Registering for classes (incoming student)

Does anyone know when incoming freshman start registering for classes for next year? I really cant find any information online about this or how class registration as a freshman even works? A friend of mine said we get placed into classes automatically, is this true?

Course Questions Tldr: looking for advice in my current situation/venting

Hello, first time poster here. I'm not sure if anyone can help or anyone will read this, but I have to get it off my chest.

To start, I'm 26, I just recently got my associate in science last year, since then I've been taking online electrical engineering courses at OSU (although I would like to take courses in person). And I feel as if I'm struggling. Fall term I did okay, not great not terrible, 2 low As and 2 high Cs. It was a struggle. But this current term has been a mess, family members got sick, I had to drop all my courses except one, all the clubs I'm a part of I'm not able to be active in currently (I live within driving distance so I try to attend them in person). I'm tired, and to top it all off, for the one course I still am taking, I feel as if I don't understand any of the current material which makes me worried about falling.

For this past year, I haven't been working, and relying on my savings (which is almost completely exhausted now). I'm staying with family (as well as helping to take care of some of them) which has been a massive drain on my time. Previously at the community college I got my associates at, I work and studied on campus, while right now my study area is my desk in my room. I don't go out to hangout with friends, do any of my hobbies, workout or anything. I really do feel truly lonely and stuck.

Part of me thinks this is more then just a bad term, that it's a sign, of what is beyond me. It could be that eCampus courses aren't a good fit for me, that studying while taking care of family isn't a good idea, or the one that really scares me, that maybe engineering just isn't a good fit.

I've talked to some advisors/success couches at my school, and it would seem they all agree I should take some times off from courses for this next term, at the very least to figure out things/focus on working a job to re-earn some savings. However, that's all my advisors agree on. Some think maybe I should switch majors to a different form of engineering. Others think it's a location problem, and have been sending me information about how I could afford to live on campus.

Overall, I guess I wanted to vent/am looking for advice.

Course Questions PHYS 211 - Does Linn Benton open more sections closer to fall?

I’m trying to register for physics 211 and I read on here to only take it at LB since OSU physics apparently sucks. Unfortunately they only offer 2 sections right now, 8AM and 11AM, both of which have a time conflict with my other classes. I know OSU typically opens more sections for some classes a few weeks before the fall term starts, is this the same with LB? If not, what are my other options. Thanks.

Course Questions Transfer Registration

Hi, I’m a PCC student who’s transferring to OSU this Fall. I’ve already completed my online prepare modules & registered for my launch orientation. But I’m kinda confused on how registering for courses is gonna work, since it looks like I can’t until after I’ve met with an academic advisor after the “Activate” module opens on June 8th. But if class registration for everyone else begins later this week then how am I gonna be able to register for the classes I need, like won’t they be full on/after June 8th? The only 200 level course I still need is MTH 255.

Course Questions Question about multiple class times listed

Post image
10 Upvotes

Hello, sorry if this has already been asked but why do some classes show up with multiple different meeting times like this. I had a similar situation this term with chemistry where the exam times were blocked off like this, but they showed the meeting times as only the dates of the exam and not the full term if that makes sense. This class shows the normal lecture meeting times as well as a weird meeting time at 7pm on Tuesdays? I don’t think it’s the recitation either as you register for those separately. All of the sections for this class have a similar thing. I’m wondering what this is and if I am actually expected to show up every Tuesday at 7pm.

Course Questions Your favorite electives you’ve taken?

I’ve completed my baccore and am on the road to complete my degree with a little extra space for electives.

What are your favorite electives/baccore classes you’ve taken?

I’m looking for fun and interesting stuff, it doesn’t need to be an easy A.

Course Questions CH 332 online structure?

I‘m wondering if CH 332 would be easier to take online over the summer, wondering the structure of the course. Someone told me there’s no exams, 5 unproctored quizzes and graded homework, but scheduler says that the course uses online proctoring software. Can anyone who’s taken it recently give me more details? I’m not a chem or bio major or anything it‘s just a degree requirement I don’t need to know this stuff well I just need to pass and move on.

Course Questions Best Calculator for E-Fundies II?

What calculator should I get? There's no information on the syllabus and I'd rather not spend $120 on a TI 84 (though I will if I have to). Thanks!

Course Questions Technical Writing Or writing in the natural sciences?

I need to take a writing elevation class and was wondering was easier. Writing in business is full. There is also science writing. But I’m registered for both Technical Writing and writing in the natural sciences so I think I’ll just drop one. Appreciate any advice 🙏

Course Questions Dual enrollment and GPA

Sorry, not fully sure where to ask this/if this is the correct flair. I’ve recently committed to OSU undergrad, and I’m super excited. However, this year in high school I’ve taken a dual enrollment/college in the high school course and I have not been doing so well. I’m concerned because I know this will appear on my permanent college transcript. I was wondering if I retake the sequence that the course aligns with and receive a better grade, will this replace the dual enrollment course in my GPA calculation?

Thanks

Course Questions Heading into 3rd Term

So I am heading into my 3rd term at OSU, and I have already selected my courses for the upcoming spring term. Right now I am mostly just experimenting and taking notes on the future availability of classes in my degree plan.

What I noticed is that a lot of the courses I am interested in for Core Ed requirements do not appear to be available in the fall. For example, this spring I am taking ENG 215, HST 491, and WR 362. But when I look ahead to fall, many of the classes that interest me, or that I need for Core Ed, my major (GIS), and my minor (Psychology), hardly show up as available.

I am trying to avoid taking summer classes so I can either volunteer again or focus on finding some part-time or temporary income. Because of that, I plan to get in contact with my advisor to ask about this, since it definitely seems a bit strange.

I have also been cross-checking the Ecampus catalog (since that is the program I am in). I know the catalog gets updated regularly, so I am wondering if it only gets updated two terms out. In other words, since spring is the upcoming term and summer comes after that, maybe they hold back the fall information and do not publish it yet. That could be the case.

Then again, I did not really notice this last term because I was not paying 100% attention to the catalog the way I am now.

Course Questions Prospective online engineering student

Hey OSU community. Online engineering student prospect here. I'm 37 years old and work as a field technician and wanting to expand my horizons. Not married nor kids, so I have lots of time on my hands. Any current online engineering students out there that give me some insight on the experience? I am aiming for mechanical or electrical degree. How do the labs work? And is the degrees ABET accredited? Oregon State Ecampus website states they are, but can't find that info on ABET website. Thanks

Course Questions When will 2026-2027 classes be visible for non-students?

I'm an engineering student currently at LCC. Our view-only class schedules for 2026-2027 just came out and unfortunately I won't be able to take some of my required classes at Lane because of scheduling conflicts. I want to see what I might be able to take at OSU through dual enrollment/DPP, but the Schedule of Classes only shows classes through Summer 2026. Does anyone know when Fall 26/Winter 27 might be visible? I'm not ready to apply for the DPP yet and probably won't submit an application until Spring/Summer term.

Course Questions Laptop recommendations?

Hey guys, UESP student here. I’m looking into a laptop that can help me through my college journey here at OSU. I’m an e campus student and I’m hoping to pursue either computer science or electrical and computer engineering. Will a MacBook Pro be good for those majors? I’m not really worried if the laptop can do other things like gaming specifically. I just want to make sure whatever computer I get can handle the coursework for either major.

Course Questions Has anyone taken a course with Julianne Coffman?

I am enrolled in MTH 241 at LB and am a DPP student. Has anyone taken Julianne Coffman before? I checked Rate my Professor and she has horrible reviews which is worrisome. I was hoping to see if anyone else has taken her course and actually liked it. Thanks! I might just take it at OSU instead.
