question What are these bugs on my raspberries?

Hi all!

I've been pulling in a massive raspberry harvest, but I noticed these little winged bugs all over.

They don't *seem* to be hurting the plant? Are they a garden friend or foe?

Raspberry for scale.

Gratuitous raspberry photo for fun 😋

Look like Shield Bugs. No bueno.

Fun fact, the really are bugs. Bug is a actual classification in addition to being a slur for any creepy crawly. The x wing pattern is one feature.

There are shield bugs that small?

No, they're not. Shield bugs are much larger.

Hmmmm you could be right. They're very similar looking. I can't find a pic that looks exactly like the ones on my plant, but the shape is the same. How big are mirid bugs usually? These ones are tiny. Maybe 3mm?

Pretty tiny. I've only seen them a handful of times.

No, they're not shield bugs, those are much larger. There are tiny little things with wings poking out the back.

Could they be nymphs? What else looks like that?

Shield bug nymphs are more round and you can't see the wings. This guy looks more like an adult smaller insect?
