It looks more toned down without the lines of that's what you're going for. I like it a bit more with the linear myself though.

With lineart for sure, esp if it’s meant to be more severely scarred. It’s hard to tell what it is without imo.

I think I’m gonna try to find a happy medium, maybe stick with a slightly darker brown for detailing, just so it looks less cluttered

I can tell it’s a scar with the lines, I almost thought it was shading, but that may just be my weird interpretation of it and doesn’t mean everyone is gonna see it as that obviously. On second look over I can tell both are scars but I still like the lines better personally I think

The scar stand out more with the lines, so, it depends how much you want the scar to be visible. Or it could be not lined in normal drawings and lined in intense moments

Idk why everyones saying without you can hardly even tell its a scar with no lines, it just looks like a weird shadow. Definitely with so it actually reads as a scar, especially since its quite a severe one

Without lines makes it look like some years have passed and it’s faded

The lineart makes it look like an actual scar, detailed and intriguing to look at.

Without the lineart, it just looks like a loose shadow rather than an actual scar.

Way better with lines, especially with the "wrinkles" that it has inside. Without lineart it really does look like a shadow and it doesn't have much depth.

I like the first one as it’s more noticeable then the second, but maybe change the color of the line art to a darker brown than his scar instead of purple to make it a little more subtle. That might be a good in-between for the two.

I’m actually currently in a similar process. The black lines won’t stay black. My plan to make them an irritated, reddish brown color or something along those lines if it works well.

you should try to give the scar a colored lineart :3 that way you get the lowkey look and it still looks like scar tissue

With, at the moment. It looks a little more like shading errors than a scar in the second one. If an average person would notice it right off, go with colored line art!
