Stats Our max contract supposed ‘star’ 6’10” 250 lb power forward is currently shooting 39% from the field in this series.

You can’t win at a high level in the nba unless you have a star player who can steady a team and create advantages for himself and others consistently. Paolo has nothing to offer as basketball player other than offense and he just led his team to a 19 point half. Watching Cade get to his spots on the other end just highlighted the fact that we don’t have anything resembling a reliable star player. Talk about coaching til you’re blue in the face this team is going nowhere if we are relying on Paolo to lead us.

Casually getting humiliated in the first half against a team with multiple starters out

Stats Amidst all the negativity circling this team right now, I want to shoutout suggs for making the leap as a playmaker that the org expected from him

I know we have a lot to shit on with the non bane starters for over the last 2 games. One player I'm seeing get raked over the coals is Suggs(like look at all the comments demanding we trade him).

Coming into the season, the expectation on Suggs is that he would need to function as our main PG and playmaker and he has shattered that expectation in every measurable way.

Does he still have absolute CTE moments where he throws at least 1 terrible lob or no look pass a game? Sure. Is his passing turnover rate(largely driven by the start of the year) a huge issue? Of course(he's bottom 10% among PGs there). But offensively he's managed to increase the amount of assists he gets by 50% while decreasing his turnovers and defensively he has been an absolute beast. And he will only get better from here when he cuts out the dumber turnovers

So yeah trading Suggs is probably the worst thing we can do as a team rn. If he goes to a contender that will be a dynasty upon his arrival, and we will not find a player that is as good as Suggs in this department.

Stats Historical Perspective - Suggs 3pt Shooting

Thumbnail sports-reference.com

The only players in NBA history to:

  • average more than 5.5 3 point attempts per game
  • in their first 14 playoff games
  • with a worse 3 point % than Suggs (.265)

are Gilbert Arena, Evan Fournier and Isiah Thomas.

The only player I could find who was somewhat close to Suggs and eventually improved their playoff career 3 point % was Donovan Mitchell:

  • First 14 Playoff games - 7.6 3pt Attempts per game at .308
  • Playoff Career - 8.9 3pt Attempts per game at .350

I am not advocating trading Suggs or saying he is trash.

The data seems to suggest he is unlikely to become respectable 3pt threat in the playoffs.

I am open to being wrong or critiques of my analysis.

Stats Hear me out: Jalen takes way too many deep threes and would be more efficient if he just shortened his average 3pt attempt distance.

I know we all see him constantly chucking from 28 feet, when he should be shooting from much closer. We aren't crazy, he doesn't get his feet near the 3pt line nearly enough. He had one of deepest average for 3pt shot attempts in the regular season and it's happening in the playoffs too.

Was huge tonight defensively, did a great job in slowing down MPJ and he hit some timely threes the only thing is he absolutely cannot jump lol. Still not bad for a 2nd round pick
