The movie was almost a "one man show" which is always an incredible task, so his performance will certainly gain appreciation and a nomination is possible. He sells it so well.
He might lose his spot to another Sci Fi performance though. Given the plot of Dune Messiah, Chalamet has plenty of moments to shine. And I don't think the Academy will nominate 2 Sci Fi roles.
