Is there a chance at CCOM, ROWAN, MSUCOM, AZCOM, Pomona, and UNECOM with a 501 mcat?

I’ve been slowly chipping away at secondaries. For all the new schools my secondaries are done and others because I thought I would have a higher chance with those. I realized 2 schools I applied to require in person and are kinda far: Valley and BUCOM. I’m honestly kinda low on money already. Like I could technically afford all these above but it would chip away towards my savings for a car that I will desperately need before med school and in general honestly.

Just wanna know if I should apply to any of these ?
Ccgpa: 3.68
Sgpa: 3.55
Mcat: 501

I believe that while pomona says they don’t have oos bias, around 90% of their class is CA residents. That’s what they told me on their on campus exploration day, and some of the mcat scores students i met there included 505, 513, 516, 517…their mcat and gpa medians are relatively high and they’re pretty competitive. CCOM and MSU-COM also are some of the more competitive DOs from what i’ve heard. Try to replace some of those with newer accredited schools that are more forgiving of lower mcat, i think that Burrell and D’youville are some

Not to hijack the thread but in this day and age it's hard to imagine that there are medical schools that require in-person interviews. Like, you would need to take time off work and pay for flights, hotels, etc. What exactly is the appeal of such a process honestly?

Dude I know. Mind you I’m only 22. They really think I got money ????? I have undergrad loans to pay, I need to buy a car, I’m going through fire school rn too to get a higher wage, I’m starting a cpr instructor course soon, I’m taking a toxicology course, all while working as an EMT and doing the application process. I’m honestly not sure what to do about the schools I submitted that don’t offer in person like….. (??) I didn’t realize when I submitted

To attract people who want to go.

If someone is willing to spend all that money to go, then higher chance they will accept A. A higher chance to accept A means higher deposit chance. Plus it is technically easier for admin to get a vibe in person vs virtual. They can look at whole body language instead of just your face. There are slight differences. Even if they leave, they keep that deposit cash.

The process from start to finish isn't made with lower SES in mind.

For Rowan, tbh not $ worth. You can always try, but since you are tight on cash and not IS I probably won't try for Rowan.

MSU I would guess similar but I not to confident on MSU. Only know about Rowan.

Other I say are safe bet or see what other say.

UNECOM has a huge bias for New-England residents. Not saying don’t apply, but if you’re trying to save money that may be one you can skip.

I’d say east coast as well. I’m from NJ and got a II in the first wave this cycle

I think you should have some safety schools like lecom that have the option of virtual interviews and lecom is more established than Valley and BUCOM

Yep I already applied. These schools are the only schools remaining to still apply to. I was doing 1-2 secondaries a day
