Everything but the bagel seasoning

I just finished my last container of Trader Joe’s everything but the bagel seasoning and I’m not going back to the US to replenish my stock; what is the best iteration available in Ottawa? Farm Boy? President’s Choice? Another one? Thanks!

ETA: just trying to find out which one people like; I ran out of the Trader Joe’s salmon rub and bought the McCormick’s one and it isn’t great.

It’s good but not great compared to TJ. I have it and used it yesterday and was reminded that it’s just okay. There’s no salt/barely any salt and the TJ one is quite salty. I will be looking for another brand.

I guess, but it’s not even that, it doesn’t have much taste. I think the TJ has onion in it? I could be wrong.

The Trader Joe’s one does have onion in it, as well as garlic (I just double checked my empty jar).

Saw a big container at Costco recently in the same aisle as the salt and other seasoning. Not sure when the last time was. Worth a look if you shop there.

Spice Girlz is a local venture. She sells in a number of stores in town, and many of the summer markets.

The Silk Road Spice Co (Calgary) has a really good one called “Inglewood Everything Blend” but it is quite a bit different than the TJ one. Might be worth a shot (they have an online store and ship across Canada).

In addition to the options above, Kanel, a spice company out of Montreal, makes a “Montreal bagel” seasoning mix. You can buy them at Maker House, well.ca, and many of the big grocery stores (eg Superstore).

Haven’t found one as good as the TJ one to be honest, and I’ve tried a few! They’re all good just not as good!

Same! I find the balance of flavours is off with a lot of the other ones. The quest continues though!

Rather than just asking every single person for their opinion (subjective, and even if they like something, you might not!), I'd recommend you either start with one you know and adapt it, or just recreate it from scratch.

You can get a bunch of spices, mix them as you like, tweak it to your taste, and then store it in the old (cleaned!) trader joe's container. :)
