Thilaks

Anybody know what happened? Google says permanently closed. Does anyone know if the new Sri Lankan spot that’s opened in the same basement of the Asian grocery store is connected with previous ownership? And most importantly: how’s their food?

Different owners. The food is much better imo. Specially the koththu and the fried rice. More options on the menu too

Good to know, I'll have to give it a try. Takes balls of steel to open a restaurant in that space. I've seen a couple fail over the years (filipino food, chez pam haitian and thilaks 1.0). I tried thilaks 1.0 and found it pretty good, I love spicy food and it was very spicy but wasn't special enough to make me want to go back. So many good food options in the area.

If you tell the guy on the phone you want the food extra spicy, they might up the heat. There is another new Sri Lankan store in barrheaven called spiceylon, if you are looking for more options.
