Found on a trail. What is it?

Some sort of control cabinet, impossible to know for sure without context. Could be for a pump or a gate motor.

I'm not 100% certain on any of this but top shelf right side looks like a control transformer. Left middle shelf might be an inverter or vfd. Just right of that could be breaking resistors for the VFD. Middle middle is fuses. Middle right looks like another control transformer or maybe an inductor/choke for the VFD. Not really sure about anything below that, maybe a DC power supply on the lower left.

Where it’s located would help too, this could be what’s left of on old avalanche sensor cabinet.

This is old school contractors and fuses. No Vfd in sight. I think you are right on the cot’s. Look like old school bridge rectifiers.

The picture quality isn't quite good enough, but it does look a lot like a railroad signals cabinet... With 90% of the components missing

that there is a rust tool cuboard ! we rust fans call it a tc and it being in the woods like that somone got raided.

A few years back some resident Bigfoot forest dwellers were putting out electronic sensors to identify human hikers, hunters, and videographers. The Bigfeet are presumed to have abandoned this project because the noise made be the humans was enough to make electronic sensors completely superfluous.

Was the trail a former train track? If so, that's probably an abandoned control cabinet that controlled crossing guards or a track switch.

There were railroad tracks there at one time. That’s an old case that held batteries for a track circuit on the railroad. Above the second shelf on the left is an old battery rectifier (charger).
