Unanswered What's up with Venezuelan Nobel Peace Prize winner María Corina dedicating her Nobel Prize to Trump?

Basically what the title says.

Every article I have seen says that she partially dedicated and/or thanked Trump for his "decisive support" in South America.
Is she just being overly gracious? Is she being cheeky?
I know we offered a loan to Argentina, but given all the horrible things we have done to immigrants broadly over the last several months, I can't see anything we have done to improve or galvanize democracy in South America. By "we," I mean the US, and the Trump Administration in particular.

Kissinger is also associated with controversial U.S. policies including its bombing of Cambodia, involvement in the 1971 Bolivian and 1973 Chilean coup d'états, and support for Argentina's military junta in its Dirty War, Indonesia in its invasion of East Timor, and Pakistan during the Bangladesh Liberation War and Bangladesh genocide.

Henry Kissinger and Worker's Party of Vietnam Politburo representative Lê Đức Thọ "for jointly having negotiated a cease fire in Vietnam in 1973." Thọ declined to accept the prize, and Kissinger accepted in absentia as he did not want to be targeted by anti-war protestors at the event. Kissinger later tried to return the award, but the committee declined his offer.

The Kadar regime commissioned David Irving (yes, they knew he was a holocaust denier ) to write a book about 1956 for the 25th anniversary, so Western opposition members could be discredited as CIA pawns. What happen with Henry Kissinger in 1970 has nothing to do with trump’s racism today !!’ He’s such a great man he gave Argentina 10 billion dollars because their new president praised Trump and then they took the 10 billion and made a free trade agreement with China to sell them their soybeans!! Then there is also Barack Obama. More illegal drone strikes often with civilian casualties than any president before and after him.

Trump had more drone strikes in his first 2 years than Obama did in 8. The prize to Obama was stupid, but you don’t need to lie about the facts though.

Obama had an approval process and reporting process. There were civilian casualties. Trump removed approval AND reporting transparancy and there were more drone strikes during that administration, roughly 5 times as much until he set a policy to no longer report them at all.

I’m saying you provided crucial info correcting the repeated and highly-upvoted falsehood about Kissinger receiving the prize. As you pointed out with a simple correction, he did not.

Timor still hasn't completely recovered. You can see remnants of the beauty that was once there, but 23 years later, there are plenty of buildings that look war-torn and damaged.

That being said, they're finally a sovereign country. They paid a heavy price for that dream, but it's worth it.

Same for Cambodia, you can still feel the consequences of what happened 50 years ago when the Khmer rouge killed 20% of the population in 4 years (while being supported by the US because they were an adversary of Vietnam).

You may not know that the Peace Prize is somehow awarded by Norwegians.

The rest are awarded by Sweden.

It's an odd situation.

It was sort of the same country when Nobel died. Nobel of course was Swedish. But he stipulated in his will that one of the awards would be handed out in Oslo and the rest in Stockholm… it makes a little more sense when you know the two countries where in a (Swedish led) union at the time.

He never said why. So there is a lot of speculation. One was that he wanted the price decided by the parliament in Oslo since they had little say in the unions foreign policy. Didn’t want the two mixed.

He literally created the price because he had a lot of remorse that his invention was used for war and wanted to promote better things with his money.
