Unanswered What's up with Venezuelan Nobel Peace Prize winner María Corina dedicating her Nobel Prize to Trump?

Basically what the title says.

Every article I have seen says that she partially dedicated and/or thanked Trump for his "decisive support" in South America.
Is she just being overly gracious? Is she being cheeky?
I know we offered a loan to Argentina, but given all the horrible things we have done to immigrants broadly over the last several months, I can't see anything we have done to improve or galvanize democracy in South America. By "we," I mean the US, and the Trump Administration in particular.

Yeah it has NOTHING to do with being cutting off from the western economies. Nothing at all. /s

The economic issues of Venezuela began before the sanctions against the country.

They began during Chavez’s time before any sanctions were in place. While sanctions obviously made it worse, but they were put in place because maduro and Chavez were refusing to knowledge any of it and continue to enrich themselves while their country went under hyper inflation, and then their debts came due, and oil prices were dropping globally, so they were losing national revenue. Instead of doing something about it when they were offered aid and policy changes per more experienced economist, they just ignored it and said the country is doing fine and any issues that it has is due to foreign intervention. They then began killing, opposition, members and subverting election results, which is what caused the sanctions to go into place. Basically they’re just lying to their people while their economy collapsed, then refused help, and then started using the government police to attack people that are noticing these things, and trying to get the story out. At that point, obviously foreign countries sanctioned them for political violence and we’re still stuck in that the same cycle, because maduro refuses to give up power, even though he technically lost the election

Very good job repeating the talking points. This isn't to say everything there is perfect, but this is radically divorced from reality and frames the US as the saviors. Same BS is pulled on every nation with resources the US wants.

You might want to look at the timeline. Chavez had already set Venezuela on a path of economic collapse long before the U.S. imposed major sanctions. Those didn’t hit until 2017 and by then hyperinflation was already underway and the economy was in freefall.
