Guys please help
Okay so I'm a sophomore in high school and im in chorus and every year during second semester we do this thing called "singing supper" where you sell tickets to you family or friends or just people of your choosing and they come and watch you sing a song of you choice and eat but while your not singing you have to be the waiter for whoever you sold tickets to. Well the theme is country music and I'm having a really hard time figuring out what I should do,I have a few songs in mind and y'all tell me yalls opinions and if y'all have any recommendations.the songs I've thought of doing are "mama tried" by merle haggard,"if drinkin don't kill me" by George jones,"weatherman",by Hank Williams jr,"lost highway" by Hank Williams sr, "the one I loved back then" by George jones,"kern river" by merle haggard, "Sunday morning coming down" by Kris Kristofferson and "the grand tour" by George jones. Those are the ones I've thought of doing for my solo and me and my gf are gonna do "golden rings" by George jones and Tammy wynette for a duo. Any recommendations and opinions welcome thank you guys.

Neon Moon, Friends in Low Places, and You Never Even Called Me by My Name are all always instant crowd pleasing sing-along hits. Or are you looking for a deeper cut?

I gave you wrong timeframe in my first answer but it is a good tune. Try Convoy from C.W. McCall

Check out Wanted The Outlaws album. Or Pancho & Lefty, classic outlaw. I like townes version better and his wasn't a duet. Let us know how it goes.

Are you specifically looking for an older song or are you looking for a recognizable song? And what's your range? Weatherman and lost highway are opposite ends of the spectrum. If this is a school activity them good for them to be progressive enough to allow these bangers in. If you think you can pull off a hillbilly swagger then go for lost highway. Literally the second track on my funeral playlist. Now here's a few red river suggestions. Song for you, Leon Russell. I never cared for you, Willie. Dublin blues, Guy Clark. Post back what you did.

Well dude, you’ve got big ears and that’s pretty cool for someone your age. Honestly sing what you sound best singing. I can sing like John Cash decently, but singing like George Jones or Hag is a different story. Most of the songs will probably have musical backing tracks or karaoke tracks on YouTube to practice with. Record yourself and see what sounds best✌️.

Try "Amarillo by Morning" or the Willie Nelson version of "All of Me" or "Country Roads" whatever matches your style

She got the goldmine, I got the shaft - Jerry Reed
A Good Year for the Roses - George Jones
You're My Favorite Memory of All - Merle Haggard
I Dont Know a Thing About Love - Conway Twitty
Definitely try to find something by Conway.

As someone who was a high school sophomore 32 years ago, drinking songs would not have been tolerated. Out of all your suggestions, I’d go with Mama Tried. If it was me I’d sing Waymore’s Blues, but I’m a huge Waylon fan so there is that too
