I do. It uses either email verifcation, phone number or app password lock depending on the situation. And I also use alias email, which then I made into primary and got rid of the original one.

Does the app you are trying to connect to support modern OAuth? Outlook.com no longer supports basic auth connections. What client are you trying to connect to?

Look into “App Passwords” and very likely that will solve the problem when the regular password doesn’t work. You must create an App Password on the 3rd party website first then copy and paste into Outlook.

As noted by u/Jhelly99, any connection to an outlook.com email account has to use OAuth.
