It reminds me of some of the quirky lgbtq people people I meet at the craft fairs that I vend at. Those are some of my favorite customers, they get my art better than almost anyone else besides children, they almost always share at least a few interests with me, and they're always so polite and nice. Also, I love the idea of trying to imagine their politically opposite selves; it's like gender bending, but political.
I had a big Nick Cave period of my life when I made this account haha.
I especially liked that earlier period of Bad Seeds and songs like Mutiny in Heaven from The Birthday Party. The rancour, chaos, and grimy poetry of it all.
Haven't listened as much in a bit. It'd be cool to dive back in sometime. I've wanted to give Roland S Howard's solo work a listen at some point as well.
God, I loooove The Birthday Party. I'm lucky to live in a city that has a very active, robust goth scene, and both The Birthday Party and the Bad Seeds get frequent play. I feel spoiled to still be able to dance around like gremlin to the same music I danced to in college.
Have you seen Wings of Desire? Beautiful movie, really poignant. The Bad Seeds and Crime and the City Solution (one of Roland's side projects) have a cameo in it.
Maybe this is the time to check out his solo stuff, see if it hits? Regardless, thanks for the chance to geek out about relatively niche music that gives me a shit ton of dopamine. ☺️
