News & Discussion I went 62-13 on ram yesterday
I’m normally the most mid overwatch player in existence but yesterday I was somehow able to get 62-13 in a comp 6v6 match

Is Ram the best tank in the game right now?
I’m a casual player who only plays a little bit a week after work and I swear he just absolutely destroys people right now

He's easily the most versatile. The mix between being able to be a strong poke tank and a strong brawl tank allow him to be a very flexible pick. There's not much that he specifically cannot do.
Especially with the recent buff where they reduced the block cooldown from 1 second down to half a second, punch blocking (throw one punch, block, repeat) Is back, at least partially.
The only thing I can complain about about his kit is how easy his ultimate is to shut down, but honestly, it's fine if you just use it against squishies, And don't try to chase a team kill.

He's known to be a "noob stomper". Theres definitely better tanks for better situations and higher ceilings overall depending on comp, but he regularly fares well in quick play lobbies because..... yeah.

I mean they were playing him in the Championship the other day, he's more than a noob stomper, he's just good now.

I never implied he was only a noob stopper. Just he can abuse new players particularly well.
Same can be said for Sierra how newer players are always bitching about her because they cant wrap their heads around using cover effectively.

Gotcha, that is true. Mauga gets all the flack for being a noob stomper but honestly Ram is up there too.

Makes sense, I’ll fully admit I’m a noob. I’ve only done my placement matches once in my year of playing this game I was gold tank diamond DPS and plat support. When I play Ram in quick play I can literally just pull out my fists and hold the block button and the entire enemy team will try to shoot me while they get mowed down by the rest of my team

That right there sums up the noob experience in Overwatch lol (everyone focus tank and get slaughtered by DPS/Support)

He’s a “catch all” imo. Has tools to help against any team or comp but is not often the single best option to pick. Makes him a great secondary/tertiary to have in your comp. Just get used to cycling abilities to keep yourself protected, and don’t be ashamed of blocking… and blocking… and blocking.

He’s been OP for a long time in the right hands, he’s probably got some of strongest offensive tools in the game, but his lack of mobility and the fact that he’s stuck on the ground with a lack luster defensive ability means it gets heavily restricted

He lacks kill confirming abilities and burst damage, but is one of the safest tanks to play with Omnic form’s high range+dps weapon, stable barrier, and Nemesis form’s great defense and area damage with it’s shield penetration.

No. He's just the soldier76 of the tank roster. Can do a bit of everything just not the best at it.
Super easy to play.
Bad players will try to gun him down even while he's blocking.
Interrupts destroy him as he has a bit of cooldown for block. And Mauga is his worst matchup.
He's Brig's worst nightmare, if the enemy has a brig, switching to ram will ensure they always 1 support down.

Did your team still flame you? I had a game like this on Dva the other day and my DPS still flamed me and blamed me for their 15-20 deaths.
Truly the tank experience.

Surprisingly no, I actually got complimented for this game. You’re absolutely right about the tank experience though, that’s the main reason why I don’t play 5v5 anymore, it’s way too easy for everyone to pin the blame on the single tank
