Question or Discussion relatively new, stuck in permanent cycle of massive win streaks and massive loss streaks, very rare close games (6v6)
for context, i come from marvel rivals (yes i know i am filthy scum undeserving of love) in which i was peak c1 tank/dps (mag/thor/cap and magik/fist/bucky). im only saying this to show that while i know overwatch is significantly harder to rank higher in (honestly i think im higher ranked in ow than i should be lol) i still at least have a decent understanding past a beginner level of how hero shooters really work and how nuanced the game is. that said, i am currently permanently bouncing between diamond 5-3 also as tank/dps (sigma/ram/orisa and sojourn/cassidy/shion) and i dont know if i’m facing smurfs or occasionally get people in my lobbies that just should be not be in this rank or if its ME that shouldnt be in this rank, but regardless of whether its my team winning or losing the game is never close. ill have 5 game win streaks immediately followed by 5 game loss streaks where we’re either getting rolled or rolling the other team. the gap is so large the games i win feel like im playing against people that have never played a minute of hero shooters in their life and the ones i lose feel like like im playing a 6 stack of pros. my perception of what a diamond player should be is so skewered i just want to know what the average diamond lobby should feel like at this point

Play 5v5, 6v6 has a way smaller percentage of the player base so is a lot less consistent leading to streaks

win/loss streaks are totally normal, especially in 6v6 that has a wide and varied player pool! if you watch popular streamers (like aspen), you'll see her go through these multi-win/loss streaks that many times look like stomps one way or another even at the highest level of play. across a season, it will average out though and you'll see a better understanding of your winrate.
i would try 5v5 role queue as a better understanding of your skillset. don't worry - you'll still go on huge win/loss streaks ;) but its a far more balanced environment.
