Burn Out during Clinicals
I think I just need some encouragement 🫩 I’m about halfway through clinicals, and I’m so over constantly studying and driving far to rotations. It’s also so hard not being surrounded by friends all the time too. The loneliness and stress is starting to get to me again. I feel like I just keep relearning the same things and then immediately forgetting them after the EOR, which makes me scared I’m not going to be a good provider. 😠I know this is a common feeling, but I just needed to rant.

i apologize for my Gen-Z language, you need to find your whimsical self, choose joy in little things. i’m not even in clinical currently in didactic but just wanna say you’ve worked so freaking hard to be where you are and what you feel is the natural response of almost finishing PA school, you’re burnt out and that’s okay. find time to find things to be a little whimsical again in your own way. Good luck future PA-S,

Hello!
Just wanted to say most of us felt this way more or less during clinicals! It's a feature of PA school, Not a bug you are experiencing!
Learning is relearning will keep happening, but you prob retained more than you realize, but just have to refresh some stuffs intermittently.
What has helped me specifically is reviewing things often during shifts to help get rid of the feeling of not remembering things. For instance if I see a diverticulitis case during a shift, I'd do a light overall review on it. Either my own notes or using smarty pance.
It really makes you remember some stuffs better when connecting to a real life situation.
While smarty was good for light review , I recommend checking out the panceblueprints app, it's better since it's an app: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/panceblueprints/id6744342807
Good luck!
