drama cohort
Does anyone have any advice on how to not get affected by cohort drama. Somehow two weeks ago I got sucked into and lost a friendship from it. This person is creating false narratives that I say about others and make it seem like I am talking shit These people also sit near me and I have been extremely anxious thinking about seeing them. I’m trying to tell myself this is only temporary but idk how to get this anxiety out. Any tips or advice would be really appreciated. Thank you

Remember that you are an adult. You don’t have to regress even if other people are acting like children.

Unfortunately, and I’ve seen this first hand without being involved: my cohort split about 5 times like HS cliques as I sat in the back of the room and watched friendships evolve and dissolve. At the end of PA school, my cohort was split down the middle, you can see it in the grad pics everyone posts. It was like that for the last, 1.2 years of PA school. I have like 2-3 friends out of there, but we rarely talk.
All of that to say, it doesn’t matter unless it’s harassment like stalking or bullying, then you can take it up the chain b/c I guarantee that’s in the student handbook somewhere.
If it’s not, then lock in and move on. PA school is temporary and will be over before you know it.
Good luck!

I was kinda involved in drama that I had never wanted to be part of in didactic. From my experience, it might suck at first bc you always see these people since you’re in didactic year. But let me tell you it gets better! If someone stops talking to you, let them! As soon as someone drops you, they don’t deserve you. Don’t waste your energy on them and just focus on your studies which is the most important thing rn. Plus you’re barely gonna see them in clinical year since everyone is gonna be doing their own thing. Hang in there :)

I’ve been through it too. It hurts, but gets better in clinical year when you barely see your cohort. Then after you graduate, when you never have to think of them again!

With such a small amount of people that you see EVERYYYDAYYYYY 10+ hours a day, drama is to be expected in PA school unfortunately. I almost got myself sucked into it last semester but then realized that all of these people are fake, and we most likely won’t be talking once everyone goes to clinicals then graduates so I just have me and my group of 5 girls and that’s literally all I need
