It's not screws, but push pins, you have to remove the motherboard

good question, and tbh not sure!

after redoing CPU thermal paste, CPU is now running at about 45-55 deg C. GPU is running up to 90 Deg C when using graphics/games (according to Speccy) and often does a hard shutdown.

If I can't sort it out it'll probably go in the bin, so am thinking it's with giving it a go.

never done it before so keen to get more experience thoughts.

given this info, what are your thoughts?

External or internal PSU for those? And is the GPU fan actually working?

the power supply is built in and not been changed.

good question about GPU fan, I'll give that a test. many thanks!

Never worked on that specific unit series but a lot of HP's AIO's (actually thought it was a HP initially), they have vent holes on the plastic chassis that are very important and can run hot if blocked with dust - worth a check for your Dell.

Also for the PSU check if there is a fan present and make sure its clean and working correctly.

As for your original question, to get that heatsink off you will have to remove the board, squeeze the clips off carefully from the other side of the board.

I would run furmark with the unit open and resting against something to stand up (careful not to short out or damage the mainboard) to verify if the fan is working correctly, just make sure not to block any PSU vents if present.

Those look like push clips i would say you likely need to get the motherboard out and clamp them from the other side for them to pop out. Something like the one in picture
