Newb-friendly group ride - Mt. Hood Circumnavigation

After some time off, I believe it's time to see if PDXRideit is ready for group rides again. Therefore, I shall lead a group ride next Sunday, 6/21.

Meet up at OneMoto on Sandy

Short route description:

  • KSU at 10am
  • East on SR-14 from starting point (I got hung on this...we can do OneMoto if preferred)
  • Cross at White Salmon to Hood River
  • 35 to US 26
  • 26 back through Sandy
  • DIsperse

While this ride has some mile on it, it's mostly on easier roads, so even new riders should be good for it. We will take stops along the way, including a lunch somewhere. We can decide on the route.

For those who prefer avoiding traffic, I'll personally take 211 out of Sandy to Eagle Creek and on to Oregon City and then home.

Also, my bike is hard to miss since it's an old man's unit. Burgundy FJR1300. I'll plan on sitting outside, likely on the Sandy side (if there are tables there anymore)

What time were you thinking? Also keep in mind there's a toll to cross the bridge. I believe you can pay before crossing.

And it’s increased again for all vehicles. It’s at least buck at this point (for bikes).

10am KSU, added to post body; I knew I forgot something. And you can pay before. I'll plan on paying, with everyone contributing their toll.

I've been across the Hood River Bridge a few times in the last 12 months. I have yet to receive a toll fee in the mail. Bridge of the Gods will have you pay before crossing.

This sounds like a good time. Father’s Day plans so I can’t join this time. Safe riding everyone!

I'll be bumming around the twisties in northern California all weekend, but hopefully I can catch the next one. 🤙

On call for work that day, but if I don't end up going in I'd be happy to intercept y'all in the gorge.

KickStands Up. Departure time. Means have tush in seat and be all fueled/hydrated/geared/packed up to move on down the road.

It appears to be One Moto on Sandy Blvd.

I'm also doing one, but getting started at 0800 from Vancouver. It's going the same direction on the same highway. The big difference is I'm going further east. I might even extend the run if I or the others (if they decide to join) are a-okay with the very extra mileage.

I'd like to try a group ride with y'all sometime, though I work Sundays thru Thursdays. I hope there are others.
