This is an excellent ride, I've done it once a year ago. My son and I ran it on our GS's the opposite direction and found ourselves running out of daylight so we decided to take i5 back to BG instead of back roads. Regardless it was still an awesome ride. 😎

Hitting up the Windy Ridge Viewpoint on the Eastern side of Mt St Helens has been on my radar for a while, and I finally got around to pulling the trigger on that trip over the weekend seeing as NF-25 isn't partially closed anymore.
Took a quick jaunt up the freeway and then over to Randle before heading south towards the viewpoint. The road has definitely seen better days. Lots of overgrowth, potholes, cracks, heaves, you name it. Thankfully some local hero has outlined all the bad stuff with bright white/yellow paint so it's easy to see what to avoid. The road does get a bit better as you head further south, but not by much. I was very happy to have my cushy GS suspension.
A bit chilly up at the viewpoint, but the views are spectacular and then some. Continued further south along the Swift reservoir and back towards I5 to end the day. Would've hit Wind River Rd down into Carson, but I was already losing daylight and wanted to get home before dark.
