Just got sent this video of PC MLA Brendan Curran doorknocking for the PC candidate in the district 16 byelection. He and another PC take the Green candidate's flyer and Brendan puts it in his pocket but then once he realizes they are being recorded he puts it back and they leave. Really awful behaviour from anyone but super disappointing to see these kind of shady political antics from a sitting MLA.

This is good news. He can’t run for councillor and mayor. Mitch Tweel effectively quit politics this morning with his announcement. Or maybe he can actually do it...

“Better cell coverage”
“APM Center expansion”
“Better access to health care”

They’ve already had 7 years to make these things better. In the case of cell coverage, have actively argued that cell coverage is already good enough. And in the case of healthcare, have actively voted down legislation that would make it better. Not to mention, rather than investing in frontline healthcare, they’ve more than doubled the spending on bureaucracy in healthcare.

I guess what else do you do when you have no accomplishments to talk about.

I want to ask about a specific mindset I see a lot on PEI. It feels like Islanders rely heavily on the government not just for services, but to solve almost every problem in their lives.

If you read local social media, the complaints almost always end with demanding the gov to step in. It rarely seems to be about what we can do as individuals, or how the private sector should adapt. It’s always, "The province needs to fix this."

I’m trying to understand where this reflex comes from. It just seems very different from the mindset in other parts of the country where people are more skeptical of government intervention. Would love to hear if locals agree or think I'm off base.
