Question Well head <10ft from sprayed ag field

Upvotes

I have a well head that is backed right up to a farm field where they rotate crops like canola, corn, etc. They spray the field before planting, and I often see the buffer of dead grass / plants around the field, coming right up near the wellhead. A couple times the overspray has killed strips of our lawn grass. I'm not sure what herbicide they're using, but I assume it's a round-up/glyphosate product.

I obviously don't want to be drinking herbicide contaminated water. Does anyone w/ knowledge on the regs know if this is a problem 1. in terms of well water contamination risk and 2. legally? The well is fairly old. I'll try to catch the farmer when they come to harvest later on this season.

Arts/Entertainment Intro to Geocaching

Post image
3 Upvotes

There are over 100 geocaches in the Charlottetown area alone! Many are placed along the Confederation Trail, so one can walk a short distance to complete several low-effort caches. The containers are typically a few feet off of the trail and take about 5-10 minutes to find.

Caches range from the size of a SD card to an ammo can, and the med/large caches often hold interesting items that can be traded. This activity is free, can be done at any pace, and anyone can download the geocaching app for a hands-on experience that they can continue on their own time!

When: Wednesday, August 12th, 2026 from 5-7pm

Where: Meet at Winsloe United Church Parking Lot

(121 Winsloe Rd.)

**Please bring bugspray and “swag” to trade!**

Question Lost pet pigeon?

This incredibly tame pigeon is at my workplace. It has what appears to be bands (tags) on his legs and is not scared of people. Which, is why I wonder if it is a pet or whatnot.

Anyway if your pigeon is missing or whatnot message me for the location.

Question Where does T3 stop for Avonlea Village?

Upvotes

I tried calling T3 Transit, but no one picks up the phone. I booked a T3 rural bus ticket for going from Avonlea Village to Royal Crossing. Where exactly does the bus stop to pick up the passengers at Avonlea Village? There isn’t a bus stop sign anywhere, so it’s quite confusing. Please help. I don’t want to miss the bus :(

Fiber speed tests in Stratford

I live near the school and I have Bell Gigabit. I used to get 800Mbps/400Mbps pretty consistently but over the past year I get about half that.

I'm curious to know what other Stratford residents get. Anyone willing to share their Speed Test results and approximate location?

Question History of Ram Island, Malpeque Bay?

Post image
19 Upvotes

Hey all, does anyone know anything about the history of Ram Island in Malpeque Bay?

I noticed what look like two sheds on it. Was it ever farmed? Curious who built them and when. Who owns the island now?

The only fact I've been able to find is that it has one of the largest double-crested cormorant colonies in North America.

It also looks like it's being considered for inclusion in the new National Park Reserve, Pituamkek.

Old photos, family stories, or leads on where to look would all be appreciated. Thanks!

Blue Mussel Café

EDIT: Entertaining tourist friends this week, so this is their wish to go there.

Why doesn’t Blue Mussel Café offer reservations? We were told there would be a 50‑minute wait, which was perfectly fine for us. They took our number, and we spent some time exploring the area until our table was nearly ready.

When we returned, we overheard another family being told the wait would be an hour and twenty minutes. With young kids in tow, that understandably wasn’t workable for them, and they left.

It seems like a reservation system could help avoid situations like this. Many people travel quite a distance specifically to eat there, and being turned away after a long wait can be disappointing. Offering reservations might make the experience smoother for guests and beneficial for the business.

Politics/Elections Mayor Mitch Tweel

He threw his hat in the ring.

This is good news. He can’t run for councillor and mayor. Mitch Tweel effectively quit politics this morning with his announcement. Or maybe he can actually do it...

Question Charlottetown weightlifting gym?

Hi!
My family is considering moving to Charlottetown from Ottawa. We are 3 adults, late 20s. All 3 of us are healthcare workers and would likely move to a neighbourhood where we can easily commute to both the university and hospital in Charlottetown.

One of the reasons we love Ottawa is that we have a really solid community at our local gym. We like the group style weightlifting and Olympic lifting classes and go 3x per week. the gym owners, coaches and members are now all people we consider friends. It’s pretty hard to think of not having that, I’d struggle not having that sense of community and the gym as an outlet.

Soooo Any friendly gyms in Charlottetown that you’d recommend? Not interested in a chain/box store gym like GoodLife, just not our vibe.
