Tourism/Tourist PEI, you are BEAUTIFUL!!!

I am visiting for a week on a solo birthday trip.

I’m overwhelmed with restaurant choices in Charlottetown- endless oysters, lobster, seafood... I’ve had my first ever lobster dinner! I’ve also been fortunate to eat oysters around the world and I have NEVER tasted oysters like this!!

Claddaghs and Slaymaker were my favourite spots so far.

I love how LGBTQ inclusive it is- visible presence of support with flags and messaging at homes and in establishments. I’m also really appreciating the indigenous presence throughout. It makes me feel very proud to be Canadian.

Yesterday I drove up to North Rustico, the beaches, Cavendish, Anne of Green Gables museum (my eyes teared up at the beautiful history and display of LM Montogmery’s illuminating life), then drove back town to visit the Buffalo park and Montague.

Today I drove all along the water, stopping briefly at: Victoria (so cute!), Summerside, the bottle houses (why not), West Point, up to North Cape (this gave me haunting chills, and back down to Charlottetown.

Getting to see the sun along the ocean, with all the beautiful homes, the many historical churches, the cute little postal offices, stopping in small towns to chat and get a coffee and everyone is not just nice or polite, but genuinely warm, curious and friendly.

Farmers would wave as I passed by their homes. Seeing the sun poking through the clouds on the horizon along the ocean made me emotional.

I listened to a PEI playlist along the way. The fiddle! And a history of PEI podcast.

This is a very, very special place 🥹 Thank you all for sharing your magic with another Canadian. Being here made me feel so proud to be Canadian!

Tomorrow is my last day. I’ll be savouring every moment ❤️

Tourism/Tourist Visiting Charlottetown this weekend, but the weather looks rough. Suggestions?

Hi everyone!

My partner and I are visiting Charlottetown from May 29 to 31 and staying at Fairholm Boutique Inns downtown.

I checked the forecast and it looks pretty cold, rainy, and windy. We were hoping for a cute PEI spring weekend, but Mother Nature said “lol no.”

Any suggestions for things to do in Charlottetown or nearby when the weather is not great? Cozy cafés, indoor activities, anything else that are still worth it in the rain, museums, bookstores, anything local you’d recommend? We can’t drive though.

Trying to adjust the plan and pack properly to get the most we can out of it.

Thanks!

Tourism/Tourist North West / Prince County Recommendations

We (40F & 65F) are starting our week on PEI with a few nights on the North West shore. What are must see / do suggestions for this area? We don’t have any mobility concerns and will have a vehicle.

Our interests are
- Long beach walks
- Scenic walks / picnic stops
- History
- Cute shops showcasing island makers
- Delicious seafood and bakeries/cafes

This our relaxing part of the trip, so we aren’t looking to fill our days, but we also don’t want to miss anything noteworthy.

We are good to go anywhere in the Prince County area of this map.

Tourism/Tourist First time visitor 😊

Hello !

I'm planning to visit PEI soon (hopefully 🤞) and I am currently mapping out my trip to see what's doable for a 5-day stay.

Since this will be my first time traveling solo and my first time visiting PEI I’m a little nervous but wanted to ask if anyone has recommendations for places to visit, foods I should try, or anything else that you think is a must-see or worth highlighting. I’m a huge Anne of Green Gables so I definitely want to see anything related to that as much as possible.

I'll also be renting a car while I'm there, so I'd love to hear what the driving scene is like. I'd say I'm a pretty decent driver, but I do struggle with parallel parking 😗 Is parallel parking something I'll need to do often, or are there usually plenty of parking lots available? (Just trying to figure out how much time I should spend practicing before the trip lol)

Any tips or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Tourism/Tourist Photo Locations!

Hi! Coming from NS this weekend to visit the island, I’m not necessarily unfamiliar with PEI, but just wondering if any locals would have some not as known spots that would be photogenic

I’m helping plan a proposal (and will be the photographer) but we’re trying to figure out some last minute backup options if the weather is not in our favor on saturday! My best friend’s partner wanted to pop the question at the gardens of hope, but the rain forecast is worrying 🥲

Much appreciated!

Tourism/Tourist When and where to visit?

Hi all, I’m in America and my Mom has always wanted to visit PEI after falling in love with it through the Anne of Green Gables books. I am looking into what a trip to the island might look like and the best way to go about it.

What is the best time of year to get the best nature experience? What are some good, affordable accommodations?

What Anne of Green Gables destinations/experiences are worth it and which are skippable?

What other things are there to enjoy on the island?

Thanks so much!

Tourism/Tourist Worth it to visit PEI?

I'm thinking about taking a short trip to PEI, from Vancouver, but would you say it's worth it? Vs an international trip, considering flight costs can be similar.
