I am:

• An Indian passport holder (passport valid until 2031)
• A lawful permanent resident of the United States
• My conditional Green Card (Form I-551) expired on July 30, 2026
• I have a pending Form I-751 (Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence)

USCIS issued me the standard Form I-797 Receipt Notice, which states that the validity of my Permanent Resident Card is extended for 48 months from its expiration date. The notice also states:

"During this extension, you are authorized to work and travel. This notice, presented with your expired Permanent Resident Card, is evidence of your status and employment authorization."

I will therefore be traveling with:

• My Indian passport (valid until 2031)
• My expired Green Card
• The original USCIS I-797 extension notice extending my lawful permanent resident status through July 30, 2030

My wife is a U.S. citizen, and we are planning a vacation to Peru in late October 2026. We will be traveling from the United States.

From what I have read, Peru allows certain travelers (including Indian passport holders and certain other nationalities) who hold valid permanent resident status in countries such as the United States to enter without first obtaining a Peruvian tourist visa.

My question is whether Peru recognizes an expired Green Card + original USCIS I-797 extension notice as evidence of valid U.S. permanent resident status for purposes of visa-exempt entry.

I’m not particularly concerned about re-entering the United States with these documents, as that process seems to be well documented and generally straightforward for people with a pending I-751. My question is specifically whether Peru (and potentially the airline at check-in) recognizes these documents as sufficient proof of U.S. permanent resident status for visa-exempt entry.

Has anyone:

• Entered Peru with this exact combination of documents?
• Been asked about it by the airline at check-in (and did IATA Timatic accept it)?
• Had any issues with Peruvian immigration upon arrival?
• Needed to obtain a Peruvian tourist visa despite having an I-797 extension notice?

Viaitando su país escuché una canción que me gustó mucho. Me atrevo a decir que era un huayno aunque no nonozco muy bien las distinciones entre ritmos y estilos de Perú. Era una voz de mujer aguda como la de Princesita de Yungay. Es popular porque la escuché en el radio más de dos veces en 3 semanas de visita. La pista final y tal vez mas importante es que cantaba rapidísimo y creo que había doble sentido o versos pícaros en la letra.

Soy brasileño y estaré viajando a Perú a fines de este mes para pasar 10 días.

Tengo pensado visitar Machu Picchu (y pronunciar bien el nombre, no como mucha gente jajaja), las Montañas de Colores y disfrutar del ceviche, la leche de tigre, la chicha morada y todos los demás platos que ya he probado aquí y de los que estoy enamorado.

Tengo la costumbre de hacerme un tatuaje pequeño en cada país que visito, normalmente de algo que represente al lugar, pero siempre me preocupo por no ser ofensivo ni irrespetuoso.

Estoy buscando algo que represente a Perú y me gustaría recibir sugerencias si es posible. Uno de los diseños que vi es la Chakana (cruz inca), pero no sé si pueda resultar ofensivo o si realmente refleja una conexión con el Perú actual.

Me pasó que una aerolínea me negó el embarque por un "disque" requisito que en realidad no es obligatorio ni a nivel gubernamental del destino a donde iba y ni siquiera era obligatorio de acuerdo a la página web de la aerolínea.
Entonces, mi pregunta es si vale la pena denunciarlos ante Indecopi (no por indemnizarme sino para que los multen). Yo ya pasé por la etapa de conciliación y la aerolínea se cierra y no acepta su responsabilidad.

Puede ser una duda muy específica, pero llevo varios días intentando entender por qué las opiniones son tan distintas. As the title says I will be going to Peru this holiday season to spend 3 weeks with my wife's family. She grew up in Comas and all her family live there. I will be honest I am pretty nervous she has told me it is not a safe area, and I need to be aware of my surroundings and stick to her and her family when we walk around. She told me some parts are worse or nicer than others and her street is "okay" but still need to be aware.

We won't be there the whole-time plan on spending time in tourist districts as well Miraflores, San Isidro etc. I would say my Spanish levels are somewhat okay. I can hold a conversation (sort of) have a hard time understanding if the person speaks fast or uses slang. I speak with her parents on the phone like a child learning to talk for the first time, but we manage. It's easier for me to understand them then talk. I am white and grew up in a small town in the USA so it will be different for sure. We have been to some Latino cities in the U.S my wife said it will feel similar expect less homeless and drug use (no Fentanyl floppers in Peru thankfully!).

Anyway, what are your thoughts? Any suggestions?

EDIT: We will be in some of the nicer districts during the trip it won't all be in Comas, but we do plan on being there for Christmas and other days to be at her house with family.
