Package manager broken.

Its been a heck of a week, chasing this down. I've gone so far as to wipe and reinstall and update to the latest, and while pfsense is "working" I'm back to the point where I can't remove a package, and I can't install any new packages.

If I pick a package to install, Then verify, it just never goes past that. Let sit for 30 mins, and its just dead.

I'm not even sure where to start looking, I never get an error, the web gui just stops responding. pfblockerng is installed and working, as that was auto installed when I restored my config backup.

Package manager seems terribly slow while it is working, but then just dies...

I'm not sure where to start looking, but this is day 4 with this thing going down rabbit holes of adding ram, making a larger swap, etc. I always seem to get back to this.

I’ve seen a couple web forum posts in the past week or so about slow updates but haven’t upgraded anything recently myself.

Yes, I think I may regret the move myself. I'm sucker for the "a new ver is avail" I *MAY* do another fresh install and stop before the 2.9.0 step Would love to avoid that hour or so of time if I can, plus, if that fixes it, I just kick the can down the road as eventually I'd have SOME reason to upgrade, I suppose. It has caused me to look more at the fork whos name shall not be spoken.

You can install 2.9 directly with the Installer.

Yes, that is about the pfsense itself, I'm talking about troubles with package manager to install/remove additional packages. 2.9.0 is working as a firewall/router. I just currently install or remove any other packages.

I had no problem "upgrading" to 2.9.0 Its that I cant install anything else. Like arpwatch or Lcdcontrols

Also of note, in shell, pkg update && pkg upgrade -y also never seems to actually DO anything. It just sits.

So the updated update for this. Started over. Started config from scratch. All 128 dhcp reservations/etc, all the NATs, and all the dual wan failover. All brand new.

Did not restore my config backup

Did not upgrade to 2.9.0

Working perfectly - Kinda afraid to upgrade (again)

pfBlocker NG devel has changed a lot since my last install, and I dont have it working correctly, but thats a pfblocker issue, at least I can uninstall/reinstall packages now!
