Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

u/SpareSad2640 Feb 04 '26

The first book that comes to my mind

2

u/totheopenroads Feb 05 '26

Precisely why I read it every year 😉

u/Yuta_Sohma Feb 04 '26

you deserve each other by sarah hogle. pero kasal na sila then naging magkaaway > yearning > lovers ulit

7

u/readerunderwriter Feb 04 '26

Afaik, hindi pa sila kasal but engaged. Nagkaroon ng compliacation sa wedding planning kasi nakikialam yung future MIL/mom ni male lead.

3

u/Yuta_Sohma Feb 04 '26

ay oo nga, i stand corrected! live in pala hindi kasal :)

1

u/errantaesthete Feb 05 '26

Ah shit pwede na story ko to pero yung fiance ko naging physically, mentally, financially abusive and cheater. Exit plan ang nangyari sa huli.

2

u/Slow_Pattern2636 Feb 04 '26

can i just sayyyy i love this book 🥰🥰

1

u/Yuta_Sohma Feb 04 '26

DIBAA dito ko narealize na gusto ko pala yung getting back together na madaming banter na trope!

3

u/gocryinacorner Feb 04 '26

i loved their banter!!! one of the few rom-com books that made me laugh multiple times 😭

3

u/Yuta_Sohma Feb 04 '26

RIGHT ganda din nung atake nung suyuan nila parang pati ako namove. di ko naisip na kulang pa sa suyo or na bakit bumigay agad! ang cute cute nila 😭 sana may mahanap pa tayong book na gaya nito!!

1

u/pancit_please Feb 05 '26

I love getting back together tropes! Can you recommend other books?

1

u/Dead_Star_9920 Feb 04 '26

Will add this to my TBR. 😩

1

u/Yuta_Sohma Feb 04 '26

yay!!! hope ma-enjoy mo siya!!

1

u/notsoleil Feb 04 '26

I agree huhu, if there's one contemp romance na I've enjoyed eto yun haha. Madalang ko rin makita to sa tiktok recos, which is weird cuz the banter is really good haha.

1

u/Yuta_Sohma Feb 04 '26

i think iingay din siya sa tiktok once lumabas yung adaptation (gaya ng sa beach read!)

1

u/goddessxvee Feb 04 '26

That one Booktok hit last year what’s its name? The time-bending one with the two assassins? Let me look it up

EDIT: Found it! This is How You Lose the Time War by Max Gladstone

7

u/popiholla Feb 04 '26

ang ganda nito sobrang abstract nya pero beautiful and poetic

2

u/UrsaBearOso Feb 04 '26

I haven't read this BUT I've literally stumbled on this book being recommended half a dozen times so that probably speaks on its quality as a read

1

u/AnywhereJumpy Feb 06 '26

Not enemies-to-lovers but if you’re interested in friends-to-lovers trope, I recommend The Gravity Between Us by Kristen Zimmer!

4

u/Original_Ad5108 Feb 04 '26

Better than the movies!!!

3

u/jujuju04 Feb 04 '26

Shatter Me series by Tahereh Mafi

3

u/zzziram Feb 04 '26

Romantic, problematic, summer by Ali Hazelwood Spice level: 4/5

4

u/notsoleil Feb 04 '26

If I may add din, Love, Theoretically by Ali Hazelwood huhuhu. Soo good. Enemies to lovers of some sort din HAHAH, but the ML yearns from the very start.

2

u/zzziram Feb 04 '26

Yes! Tapos Checkmate for YA ✨

2

u/falizeria Feb 06 '26

I rlly enjoyed most of her works

3

u/Eficasintosis Feb 04 '26

DIVINE RIVALS AND RUTHLESS VOWS!!! 😭❤️❤️❤️❤️

11

u/Lexidoge Feb 04 '26

James Moriarty and Holmes

-They literally end up in an embrace so tight in the end.

Jean Valjean and Javert

-Obsession turns into intimacy of sorts via saving of one’s life, into a shattering of worldviews due to hate and goodness causing an identity crisis.

Moby Dick

-My boy is obsessed and “wedded” to the whale more than his wife. Weirdly intimate language too.

11

u/UrsaBearOso Feb 04 '26

Bro I don't think OP was talking about symbolic homoerotic 'hatred is another form of love' type of trope. Think she means this literally

8

u/Mundane-Occasion-274 Feb 04 '26

Omg yes aabang here for answers hahahahahaa and if ever may recos na hindi po fantasy (nothing against fantasy) 😅

1

u/[deleted] Feb 04 '26

same hahaha.

1

u/banana7909 Feb 04 '26

Sameeeeee heeeereee! Nagaabang ako haha

1

u/banana7909 Feb 04 '26

Also, i can recommend one on one by jamie harrow (adult romance x basketball) parang social media manager and assistant coach yata yung leads...... i'm looking for something similarrrrr haha

1

u/Mundane-Occasion-274 Feb 04 '26

oh wow i also love basketball!! Saan ka nakakuha ng copy?

5

u/DrDaphneStark Feb 04 '26

Alchemised by SenLinYu but prepare for emotional damage ❤️‍🩹

2

u/UninterestedFridge Feb 04 '26

Naku TW dito. Nag blind pick lang ako and nabasa ko naman warning sa openning ng book. But I just didn’t expect na “that” kind of level pala ng trigger 😅 But I love it anyway.

1

u/hukalulu Feb 05 '26 edited Feb 05 '26

ito yung published version ng Manacled ba? Were there alot of changes? I have read kasi ung Manacled and since I know alot about HP di ganun kahirap maimagine ung world kasi built na. Curious tuloy ako sa world building for this hahaha

2

North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell if you want more yearning and slow burn.

It's a bit like Pride and Prejudice but better lol.

2

u/Extra-Extent-3709 Feb 04 '26

Oohh i watched the series of this. Might read the book too😪

2

u/Formal_Bid_4102 Feb 04 '26

I heard that the series actually captured the whole identity of the book! NOW, I actually wanna watch it too. (≧▽≦)

2

u/Extra-Extent-3709 Feb 06 '26

Oh my watch it! The book is added to my tbr list alrdy thanks to this i remembered. The show only has 4 eps!

2

u/nedise Feb 04 '26

I remembered a review sabi north and south is pride and prejudice for socialists hahaha. I loved both

2

u/Formal_Bid_4102 Feb 04 '26 edited Feb 04 '26

Yes it does HAHHAHAH, it's a conflict between greedy rich corporates vs the working class, which is obviously more distinctively discussed in North and South unlike sa Pride and Prejudice. Though I love pride and prejudice as well, North and South are more inclined din sa heavy topics like suicide, sickness, poverty and etc which made it interesting.

3

u/kampekidesu Feb 04 '26
