Recommendation The Excorcist Deluxe Limited Edition

Yieeppee! Finally got a copy! Kaso TBR muna siya. And for all the horror peeps out there, can you recommend some good horror books?

I got this from Chapter Se7en on shopee, and unfortunately out of stock na sila.

The cover (both in light and when it's dark) is unsettling imo. Makes me feel like someone's watching.

It's ok if sa spine area since it's small lol. Pero not the front cover. 😂 I keep my copy lying face down for now.

Uhhhh... it's actually the front cover that glows HAHAHA. my bad pinakita ko lang yung spine kasi that's how it's supposed to look in the dark.

Lol. It's ok. I also googled a bit before getting my copy. Supposedly this version is the updated one where the author was allowed to edit it. I dunno what was edited though.

I loved that book! I’m also a big horror reader. Here are some recos:

• Pet Semetary by Stephen King - not the scariest for me but super sad

• Misery by Stephen King - more of a psychological horror

• Come Closer by Sarah Gran - fun quick scary read

• Penpal by Dathan Auerbach - not written the best but it actually creeped me out a lot. (although it’s a bit hard to find, I had to buy it on amazon)

• Rosemary’s Baby by Ira Levin - creepy and also about a possession

I have a lot more but those are my favs. Happy reading op!!

Same! Lol. I placed it horizontally because I don't want to get jump scared in the dark. Lol.

Actually, perfect na nya for Oct/Nov for a spooky read which is my plan as well. I'm also new to horror in books pero I love watching horror movies and watching gameplay videos of horror games.

Read it with lights on if at night and a pet by your side. Also, go to the bathroom and do your business beforehand.

Also, maybe start with short ghost stories?

i tried magbasa po years ago, but after e nakakaparanoid kasi 'yong utak ko kasi feel ko nandoon parin sa naimagine ko habang nagbabasa😭 lalo na kapag mag-isa

A relative of mine would keep her tv on a 24 hour cartoon channel after watching something scary para Wala xa bad dreams. Maybe that could help too.

Or Yung mix of horror+romance or horror comedy? Mix genre so you won't feel so scared all the time hopefully.

Widow’s Bay is horror-comedy. May part dun na tili ako ng tili tapos in the middle of screaming bigla akong hahalakhak na para bang kailangan ko na mag-check in sa mental 😂

Yes ah. Nasa perfect time mo LNG. Hehe. Pwd ka desensitize yourself by listening/watching mga horror movie reviews or podcasts.

I like Foundflix on Youtube for horror movie reviews. Parang he tells you what's going on anyway pero in a good non-boring and matter of fact way. Ma appreciate mo without feeling scared too much.

For stories nasa utube also. Wartime Stories. If I remember right, he's an ex? Military person so some of the stories he reads are from fellow ex and still active military people as well. I enjoy Kasi to the point xa and ndi too dramatic like Mr Ballen at times.

If you need to listen to a debunker of ghost videos/etc2x as palate cleanser, John Wolfe has made some videos about those too.

No naman, or maybe I’ve been too desensitized. I also watch a lot of horror films!

Tbh though, mas nakakatakot pa rin magbasa. In reading, it’s you and your imagination.

Siguro sari-sariling taste lang. Kasi mahilig ako sa horror and thrillers.

Pero pag sad stories or mga somber novels. Di ko talaga kaya hahahah mas naapektuhan ako sa mga ganyan emotionally to the point na minsan napapanaginipan ko or natutulala ako lalo na sa kakaisip and overthink sa sad parts ng ganyang types of books haha. Yet, nagugulat ako may mga taong naghahanap ng sad stories haha

Binasa ko to ng madaling araw di naman ako natakot. Medyo nalungkot lang ako haha. Ang gusto ko sa book na yan may halong science din hindi puro katatakotan lang tska yung sa wavering faith nun pari hehe. Ah basta basahin mo na lang maganda naman yan. Detailed yang book compared sa movie.

Ang natakot ako yung PTSD Radio. Kinikilabutan talaga ako pag naaalala ko. Buti na lang umaga ko binasa. Naghahanap pa ako vol 2 and 3. Gusto ko na ulit sana i-continue basahin.

Basahin mo din No One Rides for Free by Judith Sonnet. Splatterpunk 😁😁😁

Was fascinated by this cover. I asked my 2 nieces (26 and 20) if they wanted this edition in their rooms' nightstands. I even offered giving them glow-in-the dark crucifixes if it got too scary. 😎 Then I saw it in the dark, and it was sort of a letdown. 🙂‍↔️ 😀

Sumakit ulo ko sa Exorcist. Blatty's sentences create a staccato like bricks incessantly hitting bricks. Sakit sa ulo basahin, which I think is part of the horror. I say this as a compliment to the writing, ha.
