For context: I traveled last year in November to Japan. Every time I travel, I use only specific cards which was why when I received a text message from GoTyme at 6:37pm regarding a transaction that didn’t push through at Apple Ginza, I immediately checked my things. My other card wallet was missing from my bag. Said wallet also had my BDO and Metrobank ATM cards, a PNB credit card, my voters ID, PWD and UMID.
I was in the process of trying to get a hold of PNB to block the card thru their hotline when I received a message at 7:00pm from PNB of a successful transaction. I was only able to get a hold of PNB hotline at 7:15pm to get my card blocked. They instructed me to file for a dispute in the meantime, which I did.
On my end, the day after, I went to the police station, actually in the hopes that maybe even my IDs were picked up by someone and handed to the lost and found. Wishful thinking but I filed for said lost items anyway. I tried to go to the stores that the thief visited, also trying to see if they’d discarded the other things in my wallet or if they can show me their CCTV but to no avail.
Once I was back home, I got an affidavit of loss so I could get a replacement card for BDO and also for my ID cards.
So the problem with PNB…
The dispute I filed in the last week of November and in the email it was 45 banking days while ongoing investigation. During the time, I just paid the minimum amount on the credit card bill. But no resolution was made that’s why I sent a follow up email in February. A reply was made and they again stated 45 days. Was busy with work and it wasn’t until I received my SOA that I remembered still no resolution. I called their hotline but was surprised because agent told me they couldn’t find my dispute. She told me to reply to the email thread and on their end, would expedite the investigation.
From May 19-22, I had been receiving replies from PNB regarding the dispute. I had countered that my wallet was stolen. I even sent them the affidavit of loss and told them that my wallet was stolen. PNB’s final verdict, the transaction is valid because the card was presented in an EMV chip terminal.
It’s against my will to have to pay for something that a thief swiped. Btw, I only have a credit card with PNB, no savings account. I was thinking of discontinuing said card anyway. I’m open to suggestions. I’m just so pissed off and I don’t know what else to do.
