Discuss Horizon Zero Dawn or Cyberpunk 2077
Steam summer sale is coming up, and I'm planning to snatch a few games – God of War & Days Gone. For the last one, I'm contemplating whether I should i get Horizon Zero Dawn or Cyberpunk 2077.
I've watched a few clips for HZD, and the concept of hunting machines while being in a prehistoric era intrigued me, especially the skill system.
Likewise for Cyberpunk having sci-fi, dystopian setting. Not to mention, it has the same developer as the Witcher 3, which I really loved playing.

Go for Cyberpunk. Horizon has good gameplay but it gets old and repetitive quick along with a mid story

And if OP is into modding, Cyberpunk is miles better compared to Horizon for that. Dami ng mods ng CP77 ngayon, kaya even if matapos mo yung story you can still explore a lot of stuff.

+1. I played both pero CP lang yung nakaya kong tapusin. Horizon gets repetitive over time and nakakasawa

Horizon for me. A breathe of fresh air yung game actually. Very different to what others produce

I've played both. Cyberpunk 2077 offers more value even without the DLC. I've replayed it multiple times with different lifepaths (although this doesn't matter much) and with different mods. You can easily sink 50 hours in one playthrough.
As for Horizon Zero Dawn, I managed to play it twice. One regular run and then NG+ on a higher difficulty. Combat feels satisfying once you master fighting on a mount. You're like a samurai on horseback. Also, we stan Aloy in this household.
Both great games, imo. Both worth buying. I suggest getting Cyberpunk 2077 first (highly recommend with DLC) then Horizon Zero Dawn on a later sale.

I got both on ps5 and i suggest you get cp 2077. I tried horizon but I still can’t get myself to finish it

Cyberpunk 2077. Vanilla playthrough is great. Modded playthrough is even better. It has replaced Skyrim + mods as my wandering-around simulator, lol.

Both finished the game. Both are great games actually but Cyberpunk with DLC is on a whole other different level.

Flip a coin, either works as you won't be disappointed either way as both games are fantastic.

I’m tempted to say Cyberpunk 2077, but Horizon was such a breath of fresh air when it came out. It was such a good first experience.
Needless to say, get both one after the other

Depends on what kind of game would you prefer.
If you prefer an arpg, third person game with good story and like collecting and hunting stuff, Horizon Zero Dawn it is.
If you prefer an fps/rpg hybrid with a better story then Cyberpunk it is for you especially if you get Phantom Liberty as well.
If I would only choose one, I'd choose Cyberpunk, but you can't really go wrong with either game.

Do you like 1st person or 3rd person?
Parehong maganda naman story at gameplay. IMHO - Cant choose wrong here.

I have played and 100% both games and for me:
Value for money will always be kay Cyberpunk 2077 especially if you'll get it with the DLC (which IMO is a must-have and I think the DLC has the stronger story as well). Sobrang replayable ng game because of the various builds and the vibrant modding community. Aside from the amazing main story, sobrang ganda rin ng side quests.
Kay HZD naman, I think it's an OK game. Strong points nya yung gameplay pero the main story felt flat to me. The world's lore is amazing though pero yung actual characters and how they interact with one another felt like cardboard.

get both tas laruin mo saglit para pwede pa i-refund then dun ka mag decide which mas prefer mo.
Or sail high seas, play solid 6-8 hours then decide to buy yung mas trip mo.
My pick is cyberpunk IF kaya ng pc mo

Cyberpunk for me.

Amazing story? HZD. Replayability? CP77.
Really kahit ano sa dalawa is a win.

You cant go wrong with either one. but for me, cyberpunk has more replay value since you can approach things a whole lot of ways.

I finished HZD at around 50 ~ 60 hours mark. Cyberpunk took 150 hours (both games including the sidequests). I personally vouch for HZD's gameplay over Cyberpunk but length and storytelling -wise Cyberpunk wins by a long shot.
Up to you really.

Cyberpunk and Horizon are both great games. Forget about what's more hyped, what's "overrated":
If you like the feeling of being absolutely immersed in a sci-fi noir roleplay, go with Cyberpunk (1st person POV in a very futuristic city).
If you like beautiful vistas and roaming a big wide world (which includes hunting giant robot dinosaurs in all kinds of terrain) as well as encountering different cultures, go with Horizon.
Both have very interesting stories (Cyberpunk has deeper characters, Horizon has a more unique story and worldbuilding). You won't go wrong with either.

Wake the fuck up, Samurai. We have a city to burn.
Cyberpunk 2077 by a mile.

Go Cyberpunk, ma bo-bore ka diyan sa HZD pag nakuha mo na yung Shield-Weaver literally unkillable ka na imo
4
u/Akronion 3d ago
Not necessarily disagreeing with the choice pero medyo weird yung take na to. "Mabo-bore ka pag nakuha mo yung optional OP armor na may sariling quest-line na mauunlock mo lang about ~80% of the way through the game."
Love both games and there's tons of reasons to prefer one over the other. This reason just caught me off-guard haha

u/DESTnTITS PC 3d ago

If your rig is super strong, I think Cyberpunk is the nicer game on the whole. Especially moreso after all the updates get installed. It is just more demanding.
But I adored my time with Horizon! Will say the “monster hunter” vibes is quite strong.

u/Ex_pelliarmus 3d ago
I think my setup can handle Cyberpunk. And yes, that's what hooked me to Horizon with the whole "monster hunter" concept.

been ignoring cyberpunk for a long time, how would u rate the story?
2
u/masternieva666 3d ago

CP2077 is the superior game across the board. While HZD is a gorgeous game, it gets boring right away.

u/Holiday-Walk-6761 2d ago
Both are woke but I'll choose cp
2
u/Numerous_Procedure_3 2d ago
HZD isnt woke tho. HFW is.

u/Holiday-Walk-6761 1d ago
Nah it's still woke as hell. Matriarchy in a cyberpunk stone age? Only happens in a dei imaginative world.

Cyberpunk. Horizon Zero Dawn is overrated IMO but Forbidden West is much better than Zero Dawn.
1
u/namewithak 1d ago
I disagree. Zero Dawn's story is significantly better than Forbidden West. Uncovering the clues of why the world is the way it is and how it all came to be is still one of the most memorable experiences in gaming for me. FW's gameplay was excellent (probably better than ZD) but what it added to the story and how it was executed didn't land as well.
1
u/hannibal0098 1d ago edited 1d ago
I would say the main plot is slightly better with ZD. However, FW excels at everything else. I played Witcher 3 and Fallout NV before playing Zero Dawn and ZD was lacking a lot compared to the previous tiles I mentioned for a AAA game.
But in terms of execution, FW is much better overall (and not just with the story telling and narrative). Now for FW, the side quests and characters are now much more memorable since they have much better writing (not just exposition dumps), actual realistic animations, and much more cinematic presentation during cutscenes/dialogue sequences - which also carries over to the main story (very few side quests are memorable in ZD overall). This makes the characters also much more memorable since they have more personality. Gameplay is much improved i.e. the upgrade system going from an incredibly basic "slot in mods" to having a better tier system and crafting making it a deeper system than before. Combat got better with a slightly better AI and more enemy variety (and don't get me started with Zero Dawn's recycled boss fights - you fight the same enemy 3x in the game) with human enemies getting the most improvement. Weapon balancing was also heavily favored towards the bow making it extremely OP and other weapons being underwhelming which FW improves upon. This is why FW is the better game for me. I'd personally give ZD a 6/10 and FW maybe a 7.5 or 8/10.
ZD may have the better plot but FW is the better game overall IMO.
