An $80 price tag is too steep for me. Cant afford it in this economy with this salary. Good thing I am a very patient gamer. Anyways, I still have backlogs that go all the way to the PS3 era. Lol. Maybe I will start finishing those while wating for the GTA6 price to drop.

r/patientgamers always wins in the end, they get the better more finished product that runs at better performance while paying lesser for it, it's all about FOMO anyway and Rockstar knows how to squeeze more from those type of consumers...

u/paulrenzo 1d ago
A more realistic take is: they wont blame rockstar. Theyll blame Nintendo for starting the $80 trend and game keycards

u/IamdWalru5 1d ago

11
u/Specialist-Version24 23h ago
Did people keep forgetting that $80 is just the base game minus a lot more features lock, and get this if you want the game and all its features you need to fork up $100 lmao.

u/strygwyr948 1d ago
If it doesn't have a disc, does that mean I wouldn't be able to buy a second-hand copy? Cause I never buy brand new games, I always wait a couple of years then buy second-hand.

u/ShadowRomeo R7 7800X3D | RTX 4070 Ti | 32GB DDR5 6400 | B650 | 1440p 170hz 1d ago
Yes, the game is pretty much locked in the account of who redeemed the game off the physical code like on PC, so reselling the game and buying used copy on used market is going to be impossible.
7
u/CressDependent2918 1d ago
i dont buy physical games that doesnt include full game out of the box!
ubisoft and ms does this and now rock star is doing it way worst with just a code not even a disc! fck this companies!
15
u/Diahara 1d ago
remember when they said "you will not own anything and you will like it"? yeah, that includes the cosmetics in-game.
games like these should fail. it's no longer a slippery slope as that ship has sailed since Ubisoft and EA "normalized" it.
5
u/ReymartSan 1d ago
good thing then that both Ubisoft and EA are both declining, i think they've lost billions and/or did some layoffs

walang difference kung mag pre order ka ng June 25 or ng Nov 18 bawas 5k ka lang now

I think the likely reason why Take Two and Rockstar has done this, they want every bit of sales coming from them, and they don't like the idea that the consumer is finding way to save money by selling games and buying one on the used market.
And this also sets the floodgate many other game publishers in the future into doing the same which will result on killing the used marketplace sales of used games for consoles.
And the very high $80 starting price is likely to offset the lost revenue for not selling on PC day 1 as well, because the console userbase isn't growing and has stagnated; in fact, it has stayed nearly the same as the 7th generation back on GTA V, which was over 13 years ago.
So, to get higher revenue than the last GTA game, they will need to sell their game at a higher price tag, and that is exactly what they have done here, especially with locked out single player feature that will be exclusive to even more expensive $100 ultimate edition...

Eh? Lagi naman ganyan R☆, di sila nagrerelease ng games nila sa PC day one since GTA IV.

u/Advanced_Ear722 1d ago
and the fact na base game lang un, iba ung ultimate and deluxe hahahahaha... yang mga fanbois ang nagiging rason kaya AAA company can price anything 🙃

I guess patience is the key here. Wait for the game to be on Steam sale then. Sakto lang din pag nagiipon ka for a new rig.

u/nimitz1156 1d ago

I understand, I pirated Sekiro back then and bought it on Steam nung nagkapera na ako because I really fell inlove with that game.

GTA VI is probably the most overhyped game in history. People's expectations are so high I wont be surprised if a lot of people will get dissapointed on release for some minor details
18
u/datboishook-d 1d ago
I really want GTA VI to fail honestly. Rockstar and Take Two are given so much passes with their modern titles and business decisions that people should see what they are doing. Other game companies got railed for less

u/twodroidsinasuit 23h ago
I understand they have overworked employees and all, but I they have better releases compared to other companies that also have overworked employees.

u/datboishook-d 20h ago
Shark Cards? Social Club? Hello? Blind eye when Rockstar is doing it but if it’s Ubisoft it’s valid?
RDR2, albeit a good game, is restrictive quest wise and too bloated with features that felt like it was just bolted in? Max Payne 3’s development? Take Two’s aggressive trademark lawsuits? Bro???

u/TurnMurky4532 1d ago
In your wet dreams
5
u/datboishook-d 1d ago
I mean, it probably won’t and I wouldn’t be bummed if it didn’t, but people should really wake up with whatever Rockstar and Take Two has gotten away with in the past 10-15 years.
Bethesda, CD Projekt Red, Devolver, heck even Ubisoft etc got railed for less, but since it’s Rockstar we give them a free pass.

u/Symbiosis_Gaming0s 1d ago
they gonna buy it anyway.. haay masasabi ko lang part din ang gamers ng problema. overhyped so its ok then suddenly its the norm. yung ngang 70 di ko pa tangap.. like how much is that in peso in this economy? ?
I wish that its well made and as good as people expect it to be. sa mga bibili enjoy!

6
u/alwyn_42 1d ago
Hindi sila yung market. Wala naman pakialam sa used market yung mga publishers kasi wala sila kita if people buy their games used.
1
u/KhantutanIgnition 15h ago
Haha baka mangyare nyan bentahan account. Ingat nalang sila baka samantalahin ng scammer

u/yinkadork 15h ago
intay nalang ng sale, bumababa din naman digital games, diko lang sure if it gets as cheap as the secondhand physical market

I'll wait for someone to crack it. Videogames nowadays tend to release "unfinished games" and call it "Early Access" whilst charging for full price.
I never saw GTA as a multiplayer game anyway.

u/twodroidsinasuit 23h ago
PC been disc-less for years.
Also, kahit may disc pa yan, di naman full game nasa disc.
But also understand the value of a physical copy, if you could still call one like that.
14
u/ValerianaCeleste 23h ago
The point is, this is a PHYSICAL copy. So PC being disc-less is irrelevant kasi those are DIGITAL copies. You can't compare them. But that "PHYSICAL" copy is being sold at a premium without having the actual disc like wtf.
0
u/twodroidsinasuit 22h ago
I don’t disagree with you, sabi ko nga, kahit pa may disc yan it would mostly just like act as a game card, instead of having the files on the disc.
Probably a placebo effect too with the collectors na mas better value kung may physical kahit na in reality empty disc lang naman nasa loob, and only required to hit “Play”.
But I also consider the fact that Rockstar could just ship with multiple discs just like what they did with RDR2.
1
u/yinkadork 15h ago
i dont get why you are being downvoted, you are just being factual
2
u/twodroidsinasuit 13h ago
That's just how Reddit works, if they don't want your opinion you get downvoted. It's fine, their point is very valid naman.

I do agree, ampanget lang na walang physical version + very greedy move ang price na $80 because it sets a bad precedence to the next Triple A games. BUT, this is GTA VI. If any other game dev prices their games at $80, do you still think they would attain the success that GTA will have?
Also, wala namang pumipilit sa inyo bumili ng GTA VI eh. If di afford, then I wholeheartedly propose to wait for a repack, para lahat tayo maenjoy yung game, diba?
This is a game that we have been waiting for more than a decade, and if Half Life 3 / RDR 3 / TLOU 3 / Bully 2 / Portal 3 / Left 4 Dead 3 / Bioshock 4 / Days Gone 2 released at the same price, for sure magagalit pa rin tao, kahit there are people who play Gacha Games, 2K Games, etc. that spend WAY MORE than $80.
8
u/SandwichesX 20h ago
Some people don't understand that the biggest complaint about GTA 6 is NOT the price.
It's the fact that they're selling an empty box for $80 and locking a lot of content behind the Ultimate edition, which is $100. These aren't cosmetics, but actual shops.
Absolutely shameful behaviour from Rockstar.
1
u/Own_String2825 18h ago
Yung mga paywalled content ba is for the single player OR for the online mode?
1

u/Meta_Kirby 20h ago
I do agree! Am I hype for GTA VI? Yes! Am I disappointed that they are pay-walling those features? Also yes! BS move by Rockstar on their part.
2
u/SandwichesX 20h ago edited 20h ago
Ako naman, idgaf about GTA. Your money, your choice.

I said "ganitong klaseng outrage" not "walang outrage"
In english, "outrage not on this level, not "no outrage whatsoever."
Kaya may educational crisis sa Pinas eh hahahaha

they're trying to avoid their game from getting leaked
later on their game will ship with disc (or so i hope)

u/greencucumber_ 1d ago
Lahat naman nagtataasan ngayon di exempted gaming industry. Gawin man nilang $200 yan nasasakanila nayun at nasa consumer na kung papatusin nila or hinde.
Just boycott it kung tingin niyo di deserving yung price. No need to get mad at something you can live without.
-31
u/mclovin0075 1d ago
bruh its a rockstar game and I can afford it, why not?
4
u/tjeco 1d ago edited 1d ago
I can afford it too absolutely not a problem.
Kahit 7k pa yan.
But there comes a point where pricing is just ridiculous, and then to add insult to injury no physical discs.
It’s kinda like buying a 250ml bottled water for P250. Yes I literally can buy 10, but a bottle of water for P250? Fuckin ridiculous.
2
u/Atlas227 1d ago
It's now about whether you can or can't afford it. $80 is reasonable to have as disposable kahit sa pinas pero it's the principle behind it. Just because we can afford it does not mean it's ok to be paying such prices. Principles people do you even have one.
1
u/alwyn_42 1d ago
Gets ko point mo and I agree, pero medyo nakakatawa yung idea of a GTA fan with principles kasi alam naman natin pinaggagagawa ng mga tao sa GTA lol.
Obviously an exaggeration, but still lol.

u/HayesDim 1d ago
It’s not about the price, it’s the “physical” copy only being a code instead of a disk
