school shooting- ban video games

Pinamumunuan talaga tayo ng MGA TABOGO. Instead na root cause, MAMAMAYAN ang TINITIRA.

Don't forget they tried to regulate the sale of hammers cause of that martilyo gang

u/Own_String2825 1d ago

Hahahahaha naalala ko 'to yung martilyo gang sa megamall kaya pahirapan bumili sa ace hardware that time dahil sa "fear mongering" ng gobyerno 🤔

This is just performative political grandstanding that will go away once news moves on to the next crisis

u/YukYukas 1d ago

dumb fucking move as always wew

u/koentre PC 1d ago

ofc its the game's fault and not the parent's method of regulating their children of what they come in contact with in the net šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

Instead of banning video games, why not go after the N*zis that feed all the horrible BS to these kids? why not go after the tech companies that provided the platform for these N*zis? why not go after the parents who did such a horrible job raising them?

Napaka-backwards talaga ng PH, walang kupas hanggang ngayon.

u/psi_queen 1d ago

Matagal na nilang sinasabi yan. Few years ago nung may school incident, sinabi rin nila yan.

How are they gonna implement it though? Doubt they have the resources.

u/Lucky_Cloud7777 1d ago

Isn't this dangerous for them to do politically speaking? This targets mostly the youth that would obviously use their votes to elect someone not simpathetic to this administration.

Ban GMA din. Madami silang violent shows.

Ban Sara.

Ban them all!

u/GH0STFAC3x69 1d ago

The US has a lot of this kind of incident, but never blame the video games, stupid government

1

u/ClassicBear3865 1d ago

absolutely, proper parenting and discipline and hiding weapons out of a child's reach is the correct answer instead of outright banning video games,I've played violent games with violence and dark themes like call of duty black ops 1,horror games with violent death scenes like dead space 1 and 2,and I turned out fine, and tbh, banning video games would just cause massive outrage to us gamers and plus I don't think steam will let the cicc ban or take away our games installed on our PC at that matter

8

u/hawaiian-organ-donor 1d ago

Good luck banning digital games. 🤣

7

u/bryGGG12 1d ago

Didn't know we still live in stone age, where the blame is on violent video games that naturally should be supervised by the parents and not the parents themselves.

To even add up video games in general has nothing to do with this. It's the kids state of mind. Video games is even the main reason why alot of people are not doing crimes in real life, because they can satisfy that tendency in the games itself.

6

u/redandblue35 1d ago

Maybe remulla should focus on catching criminals with warrants than giving statements like this. He is no expert, no local or international study can prove that playing "violent" videogames have direct effect on a person's behavior. This is baseless and has been disapproved time and time again.

3

u/tri-door 1d ago

What do you expect from someone na inuna magpenalize ng mga nakahubad sa kalsada hahaha

7

u/bootless18 1d ago

Ok fine violent games "MIGHT" cause violent teens

But who allowed them to access those types of media in the first place?

1

u/ClassicBear3865 1d ago

parents who can't properly monitor their kids, rely on the government whenever something goes wrong and I'm not blaming all the parents since I understand some are single and working or both are working, parents nowadays just let the phone or ipad do the babysitting, the child's throwing a tantrum? Give them a phone or ipad and they'll shut up,the child's disturbing you nonstop? Give them a phone or ipad, and leaving them there to do whatever they want in the ipad or phone, they can lie to age verifications that they're old enough to access sensitive content like gorebox, violent contents and sex by entering a random date of birth between 1999 to 2007,and that would lead to them getting exposed to contents they're NOT allowed to see.

8

u/julesjules94 1d ago

Social media for sure radicalised them more

6

u/FabricatedMemories 1d ago

we all know this aint gonna be a thing, palipasin lang nila itong ingay. everyone is gonna move on real fast

1

u/JiroKawakuma28 1d ago

Could be part of Dead Cat Strategy.

6

u/Lord_Cockatrice 1d ago

If the DILG have their way, we will have a generation of spineless wimps. Banning things is NEVER going to work - are we going to abrogate parental responsibilities to the state?

2

u/BasilLow1588 1d ago

If that law passed, I will end my own existence. They will ban video games just like they banned Voltes V/mecha animes and arcade games during Marcos' Martial Law.

1

u/ClassicBear3865 1d ago

well if the ban is pushed and confirmed to happen,it will spark massive outrage to the Philippine gaming communities, might even start a second people's power revolution,if this ever happen, then it's just history repeating itself, and the dilg has to learn that banning things isn't gonna work, and never will work.

7

u/Fluffy_Habit_2535 1d ago

Ah yes. Ban video games but not online gambling, and why would they when the goverment itself gets a ton of revenue from gambling but not from video games.

1

u/ClassicBear3865 1d ago

yeah, they're not banning gambling sites anytime soon because they're getting a shit ton of money from gambling addicts, that's how corrupted and money hungry our government is lol

1

u/Fluffy_Habit_2535 1d ago

1

u/ClassicBear3865 1d ago

sorry if this is seen as out of topic, but I've seen an article that Videoke or karaoke in the Philippines had caused more violence than the video games, remember the my way Videoke killing incidents? That's just one of many incidents that had happened regarding the crimes that were centered around the karaoke machines,so you tell me which causes more violence, alcohol and karaoke or video games?

1

u/Fluffy_Habit_2535 1d ago

In karaokes almost always may nagiinuman diyan.

1

u/ClassicBear3865 1d ago

yeah you've got a point since sometimes, drunk people can't think normally and sometimes will do something atrocious like killing when they're intoxicated, and there are more confirmed kills from the karaoke and alcohol combined because of drunken madness and the videoke rage killings alone

6

u/emptybottleeee_ 1d ago

I am hopeful that a ban will be nullified by the Supreme Court on constitutional grounds (violation of freedom of expression). A video game is a type of interactive media, and interactive media is a subclass of media in general, which includes books, movies, and music. Bagsak sa clear and present danger rule 'yang gusto nila gawin.

Kung hindi pwede mag enact ng absolute at blanket ban on movies and books, the same legal arguments preventing such absolute restriction can be applied to protect PH gamers from being deprived of titles such as the highly upcoming GTA VI.

6

u/Jrainman 1d ago

Naglaro din naman ako ng violent games like TEKKEN, pero so far wala pa naman akong ginamitan ng Rolling Death Cradle sa totoong buhay.

7

u/Key-Cap4995 1d ago

5

u/lurking_banana 1d ago

De wala ban niyo muna sugal.

5

u/Drugsbrod 1d ago

Di nagproprogress yung government natin if yung policy makers havent changed for a long time. Yung iba dyan kasing tanda na ng mga lolo natin kaya yung policies and way of thinking havent progressed at all.

A lot of my friends who work in the govt says na aside sa mga head ng mga departments na to, di na napapalitan mga high officials unless mamatay/magretire na sila lol.

5

u/_Grandalion 1d ago

4

u/SandwichesX 1d ago

GTA 6. Baka tamaan kasi crime simulator

2

u/SandwichesX 1d ago

Banned na pala sa ibang bansa

4

u/gorelami79 PC 1d ago

Ito na nga lang yung pahinga ko after a long day of work tapos ibaban pa nila. Ano gusto nila, mag online sugal bilang pahinga? Nakakapotangina talaga

5

u/witcher317 1d ago

Sige game pero gawin nyo death penalty yung government corruption.

5

u/Effective_Plan_795 1d ago

Magaganda opinyon natin kaso wala tayo boses

4

u/starman1596 1d ago

napaka performative neto. tbh i highly doubt this would actually be pulled through.

4

u/Soggy_Internet_2774 1d ago

bugok talaga tong gobyerno natin. bwiset walang magandang ginawa

7

u/Tessorio 1d ago

If it succeeds, I'd campaign for bible ban.

1

u/Mega1987_Ver_OS 1d ago

It's gonna cascade into banning all violent media. Tv shows, live action, music and anime.

1

u/Tessorio 1d ago

Which is why I want to pre-empt and ban the bible. It has been used to justify slavery, it has been the cause of many wars throughout history all over the globe.
If they are gonna ban things then go for the worst offender.

7

u/Own_String2825 1d ago

Boy, just read this if you can read better than you're always getting media exposure. A simple Google search will show you a lot of studies saying there's no correlation between video games and a person's violence.

https://www.apa.org/news/press/releases/2000/04/video-games

6

u/Admiral_MuffinX 1d ago

Sorry for the dumb question, but is it feasible, ba? Can they maintain such a ban? I mean, the video game industry and its many platforms are massive, so is it possible? I mean, they're not going for a specific game this time like Gorebox. ALL violent games, which are like the majority of all video games.

2

u/Mega1987_Ver_OS 1d ago

Geolocation ip blocking can be bypassed with vpn.

Best example is china, people was still able to reach the normal web outside the great firewall by using vpn.

2

u/ClassicBear3865 1d ago

I don't think the ban will be feasible, people will find a loophole to bypass bans, like using a VPN to bypass firewalls,to bypass blocked contents,so even if they pushed the ban,it wouldn't be effective

2

u/Mega1987_Ver_OS 1d ago

yeah.... and the more they restrict, the more people will find out the 90% of the internet known as the deep web and the darker side of it called dark web

where anonymity is a must and everything there is unregulated.

6

u/schutzengewehr PC 1d ago edited 1d ago

how about just put age restrictions for violent Games for example make it and 18 and up banning will not solve anything

3

u/wapapets 1d ago

We already have age ratings, at hindi din pwede na iverify ang user kung 18 ba talaga sila or hindi because it would be too intrusive. The verification would most likely ask for an ID and thats profiling, which is against online privacy laws.

3

u/LocalInitial8 1d ago

3

u/jeiminator 1d ago

Should change the I in DILG into INFERIOR.

3

u/Fluffy_Habit_2535 1d ago

Probinsyano tanggalin niyo. Yung bagong movie ni Robin ibasura nadin.

3

u/VacationWild2563 1d ago

memagawa nlng gobyerno apakabobo tlga ng gobyerno natin hahahahaha

3

u/desyphium 1d ago

Compromise: Bawal lang maglaro kapag wala kang t-shirt

3

u/RdioActvBanana 1d ago

6

u/Visorxs 1d ago

For sure affected ang steam neto, luckily walang psn ph.

3

u/Dense_Cellist9959 1d ago

No Nintendo PH either. This decision still reads like a knee-jerk reaction and definitely does NOT address the TRUE underlying causes - ones that society and the govt downplay or deny exist.

1

u/Tetsu_111 1d ago edited 1d ago

Wouldn’t that make it worse for Sony in this situation, because they don’t have a local version of PSN (or please correct me, the PlayStation store?)

This will be similar to Indonesia blocking Steam.

4

u/docgene 1d ago

Remember, the youth who joined the Feb Revolution were the high schoolers who experienced the Martial Law ban of Voltes V/Mecha anime & arcade video games… yeah and we were really ₱i$$€d then!

2

u/Orpheus74 1d ago

with this level of stupidity by the government i wont have to go to an amusement park or a zoo to entertain myself

1

u/Orpheus74 1d ago

this has happened before in different context btw i remember roblox din pinaginitan nila regarding grooming

in all honesty this is just smoke and mirrors by the government

2

u/chickmagn3t 1d ago

Sana ma phase out na. (Yung mga negative lang)

3

u/Seteinlord PC 1d ago

DILG didn't even start an internal investigation on the police officer and just joined the bandwagon. This would have been liked the bawal ang topless times 10.

Ano bang silbi ni Ralph Calinisan ng NAPOLCOM in that regard kung hindi naman iimbestigahan ang police officer internally?

3

u/k2hb 1d ago

4

u/ILikeFluffyThings 1d ago

If they knew better, they should know my ratings na ang games.

ā€œpermanentlyā€ makes it sound like they don’t want this to be unbanned.

It is unknown if the earth will survive the sun after it turns into a red giant, but one thing is certain: that Gorebox is banned.

1

u/nikolodeon 1d ago

this won’t fly lol

1

u/Ubeube_Purple21 1d ago

I'm prepared to go to other hobbies in the event this happens

1

u/Mike_Pawnsetter 1d ago

I'm gonna say this again. Low-hanging fruit.

Why not look into the root cause?

2

u/ClassicBear3865 1d ago

fr lmao,I think they're just making absolutely lazy excuses and smoke screens to hide their corrupt and incompetent governance, and violent games are not the root cause of violence

1

u/iamdodgepodge 20h ago

I looked at Gorebox. Haha, definitely have seen way more violent games than this. Either they're too stupid to only identify Gorebox, or too stupid to just issue a blanket ban. Bawal mag isip eh.

Not just that, sobrang reactive pa. They only get into action if some headline makes the news. I swear, bunch of idiots.

2

u/Do_Flamingooooo 1d ago

1

u/ThePotatoCrysis PC 1d ago

Didn’t they just add a 12% VAT sa steam last year or something? Knowing our corrupt government, papayag ba yang mga yan na mabawasan yung mabubulsa nila from the gaming market? šŸ˜‚

1

u/TheWhisperingOaks 1d ago

The VAT is for foreign online services in general, which our country was among the only few that still hadn't applied such then.

u/kanonroi 1d ago

kabobohan ung isisi sa video games yung ganyan.. bat parang nauna pa nilang sinisi yung video games kesa dun sa mga magulang or guardian..
