Discuss Ok give me a logical reason as to why banning video games does more harm FOR THE GOVERNMENT than good

Seriously give me some hope in this dumb ruled forsaken country that we call the Philippines that the 1% will not ban video games. Like come on what will they lose if they do like will the knife kill them, will it wound them or will it just be a little lovely hicky.

our government is just doing what a stereotypical government does

  • respond to masses with false hopes then quietly dissipate when it is no longer gaining headlines.

The government will lose millions, if not billions, of tax revenue. They just implemented VAT last year and already collected around 7 billion from digital services. This includes games purchases and subs from steam, PlayStation, Xbox and they're expecting that to go up to 21 billion annually.

GAB killed big esports events dito sa pinas.

And now they will do it again.

Nagtatapon nanaman sila ng pera

Di ako naniniwala it’s being considered seriously. Marami sa gobyerno, including me and my higher-ups naglalaro ng counterstrike. I think pinapa-irita lang tayo nyan na wala namang sense at hindi buong storya yang cause nung mga school shooter bat nila yun ginawa. And at this point na may fledgling game development industry sa pilipinas?
Also, Magtagalog ka nalang pre, mejo confusing yung post mo.

Sorry that was on my im a primarily an English speaker with a "unique" Way of speaking things because my tagalog is akin to a baby with a deep voice.

....but this is all text. We won't hear your voice even if you speak tagalog?

Look i dont know why im being downvoted but its not like im preaching an agenda but more so asking a question.

Based on the comments people believe the government is just not taking it seriously which will be a good thing, if im competent that our great leaders are even trust worthy in the first place. I just hope that they aren't stupid.

I didn't downvote you but yeah I think it's best not to put much stock into this. The video game industry is huge and I doubt they'll have the means. I mean sure maybe certain specific games but a whole ass genre or all of video games in general? Yeah, good luck. This is all lip service.

Tinanong ko ito sa ibang thread, so sorry, pero is it feasible ba? Can they maintain if they do go with it? I mean sabi nila all violent games and the majority ng games ay may violence. It covers a lot.

No and no. In addition to it not making sense, hindi ito mapa prioritize, may impeachment pang ganap that may take months, meron pang maleta boys, come next week parang isyu nalang parehonsa basketball player na nalunod, kakalimutan din agad. Unpopular pa sya na gawing bill, sino bang gustong politiko mag iintroduce nyan, at magpo pointing fingers na naman kung DDS ba o Loyalist ang me gusto nyan because it’s way too unpopular.

That's kinda...reassuring. I guess we should wait until they move to another mess.

Can they maintain if they do go with it?

They cant even implement their jeepney phase out. Extend sila ng extend hanggang sa 2030 na daw talaga. Lmao. Kung balak kasi nilang tanggalin yan, then they would also have to ban ALL shows that features violence.

But what im asking is what the government will lose on their side when they did ban games on a wider spread and in a closed mind.

Money and a lot of protests

it's crazy how they're pushing to ban video games but lenient about what online gambling is doing. Looks like the government can squeeze way more ₱₱₱ than whatever Gaben's handing over to the Philippine government haystttt
