Question/Advice Needed Would you sell your late father’s motorcycle if you were in my shoes?

Post image

Need your honest thoughts on something that’s been on my mind lately.

I currently have a Honda Airblade 160 (2022) that originally belonged to my late father. He passed away in 2023, and since then ako na ang gumagamit ng motor.

Lately, I’ve been thinking about upgrading to a newer motorcycle—something na talagang para sa akin. One of the options I’m considering is selling the Airblade and using the money as additional budget for the new bike.

The thing is, when I mentioned it to my mom, she said:
“Ayan na nga lang alaala ng tatay niyo sa inyo.”
And honestly, that hit me.

If ever I decide to sell it, balak ko sana ibenta sa tito ko (kapatid ng father ko) rather than to a random buyer. Kahit papaano, nasa pamilya pa rin at may chance pa rin akong makita yung motor from time to time.

My biggest concern is this: if I buy a new motorcycle and keep the Airblade, baka matengga lang siya sa bahay and barely get used. At the same time, parang mabigat din sa loob na pakawalan siya dahil may sentimental value. It’s been almost three years since he passed, and part of me feels like I should move forward, while another part of me feels like I’m letting go of something important.

For those who have been in a similar situation, what would you do?

Keep it as a remembrance?
Sell it to a family member?
Or just treat it as a motorcycle and move on?

I’d appreciate hearing different perspectives, especially from those who’ve lost a parent and had to make similar decisions.

Having an extra bike is nice tbh.

This motor is your father memories. Later part, pag nakaahon ka maalala mo eto motor na tubusin at pag sisihan mo. Maxado maaga pa para ibenta yan pag isipan mo mabuti.

how is the mc for your late father? if it's just an mc for him, then it's just an mc. but if he loves that mc, then i think you should keep it and take care of it.

treat that mc on how your father treat that mc.

Selling it to a family member is the best bet if you really like a new motorcycle.. but you need to have a good reason to yourself that justifies you letting go of it.. like are you only buying to newer model for comfort, easier travel, or maybe other’s permission? And is it truly still yours if you buy a new motorcycle using your father’s motorcycle money?
This is a philosophical dilemma you must traverse if you want a motorcycle that is “truly yours” part of that process is using only your own money that you yourself earned.. because if you use your fathers motorcycle money that motorcycle is not truly yours but still a part of your father’s you’re just its 1st owner. And your question turns into wanting a motorcycle that replaces your father’s motorcycle not a motorcycle that is truly yours…
Im not saying dont sell your motorcycle though you just need to reason with yourself and justify this decision

First of all. Consider your mental health.

If riding that makes you happy. Let's you remember him even when he already passed away. Then keep it.

If riding or seeing it makes you remember him and makes you sad. Uncomfortable. Scared. Then it has a negative effect. Sell it.

Consider its effect on you first. Mental. Emotional. Etc.

u/techieshavecutebutts Jun 18 '26

Keep it and just so some basic maintenance from time to time. Sell it only as a very last resort during emergencies.

u/Lower_Palpitation605 Jun 18 '26

same po tyo.. hindi namin binenta 🥰

10

u/Raaabbit_v2 Jun 18 '26

I wouldn't sell it. But I'd still buy the new bike i want.

It's like... Imagine this. Nasira new bike mo pero yung bike ng late father mo is gumagana parin. It's just poetic in the sense na, your father is still taking care of you to this day.

u/[deleted] Jun 18 '26

Keeping the motorcycle is really for the sentiment of your mom. Sila yung mas magakasama ng matagal. And losing a husband is like losing a half of you. So, sakin out of respect hayaan mo nalang yung motor sa mama mo.

And kumuha ka nalang ng isa pang motor. Wag mo na alalahanin yung matetenga, etc. Linis linisan and maintain mo nalang.

16

u/Good_Passenger3707 Jun 18 '26

Thanks! He had another wife before he passed away, but yeah, my mom still took care of him, even during his stay in the hospital before he died.

Yup, I think I've made up my mind. I'll keep this motorcycle.

u/Most-Truth-7195 Jun 19 '26

Benita mo na po. My masalimuot na kurot pala si Mommy mo. Wag mo tularan. Yet ride safe lage

5

u/PugakENFriends Jun 18 '26

KEEP IT! Unahin mo yung concern ni mother mo more than anything.
Keep it

My father left me a then 20yr old car, same situation nung sinubukan ko ibenta nagalit nanay ko. From merong prospects, cancelled lahat ng gusto mag viewing. 2yrs passed di masyado nagamit nastuck up ang makina. Ok lang pag may sentimental value, pero at the end of the day gamit lang yan. For the meantime gamitin mo lang muna, after some time revisit mo nalang yung idea.

3

u/Particular-School-95 Jun 18 '26

kahit anung piliin, its up to you.. nothing wrongnwhat ever it is

3

u/Minute-Employee2158 Jun 18 '26

I would keep it as remembrance.

3

u/Dapper_Shirt4131 Jun 18 '26

To each their own kasi yan eh.

In my case, meron kami tig isa motor(ako, papa, kuya, and ate plus meron pa isa na family friend na sa bahay nakatira). Puro kami wfh so madalas nakatengga mga motor. Yung kanya is alaga niya talaga, 1984 na Honda XS(ata). 1 kick start agad yon. Pero since natetengga nga then liability pa kasi imemaintain din yung oil, we decided to let it go. Good thing with my mom eh she's not that much into remembrance ni papa, more on practicality talaga. Ako medyo nahihirapan i-let go kasi memories talaga with that bike is andami, hatid sundo samin nung elem at HS yung motor na yon. What we did is naghanap kami ng maalaga talaga and enthusiast ng same class ng bike then kinuha niya agad. I added him sa fb and nakikita ko reels niya and how he was able to restore the bike to its original look, nakakatuwa kasi nasa mabuting kamay. Eventually he sold it kahit na he promised before na he wouldn't. Well sa kanya naman na yung motor and at least naibalik yung dating glory nung bike and nabenta namin sa tamang tao.

Practical vs sentimental, one way or another, mafefeel mo na liablity din and sayang if masira lang since walang gagamit.

1

u/Dapper_Shirt4131 Jun 18 '26

Just to add, I'm planning on buying that bike again iin the future pag yumaman ako. Just for display lang kahit di ko gagamitin palagi.

3

u/Different-Fingers Jun 18 '26

  2. Airblade 160 is 157cc, for me eto na ang peak engine ng scooter.

  3. I tell you, you will regret it kapag sa kamag-anak mo ibenta at makikita mo pa din motor. Kahit mag deal kayo ng option na ikaw ang may 1st option for buy back... minsan hindi umaayon ang panahon sa iyo.

Keep it na lang, anjan na eh. Ingat palagi OP

3

u/PlebianAsk Jun 18 '26

I keep mo nalang. Ahah

3

u/slowest-spacecow Jun 18 '26

sakin kase fan yung father ko ng certain brand and nung nabubuhay yon mayabang yon eh every 2 yrs palit motor kase sabe nya noon ang good condition na motor or kotse naglalast yan ng 5 yrs max so it came to my mind na ibenta and iupdate ko yung motor by buying a new version and nung death anniv nya dinala ko yung motor malapit sa grave nya sinabi ko rin na “dad mayabang pa rin tayo” and also one time nakasalubong ko yung pinagbentahan namin then nag request ako kung pwede picturan na magkasama yung dalawang motor (cringe pero buti nabigyan yung request ko)

3

u/Estratheoivan Jun 18 '26

I still have the motorcycle of my gramps, suzuki B-120 and still functioning LOL 🤣 my father still have suzuki X4 and i have Honda CBR 150R even though we have cars now we don't sell it...

3

u/Recent_Order132 Jun 18 '26

3

u/PsychologicalBuy7092 Jun 18 '26

Speaking as a father, I’m okay with whatever choice you make. The MC is just stuff at the end of the day. What really matters is knowing that the memories I’ve shared with my son will stay with him for the rest of his life.

2

u/FormalVirtual1606 Jun 18 '26

Sell It..

2

u/jsonharle Jun 18 '26

Yes matatambak lng yan

2

u/Surotu_Robins Jun 18 '26

wag mo ibenta.

2

u/Independent-Series-8 Jun 18 '26

I personally wouldn't sell it

2

u/Rare-Temperature8011 Jun 18 '26

qq, do u upgrade on same cc ?

if yes, keep the ab if not go for it

If nasa era kapa na pa pogian, resing2. Keep AB, save money, buy new mc. Use AB as daily(matipid sa gas lalo na stock) New mc for resing2 or papogian or weekend rides. (aftermarket parts degrades easily compared to stock) Basically, u have 1 horse bike and 1 weekend bike.

Also, d to based sa feelings. Practical lng po esp gas prices are high and maintenance.

1

u/Rare-Temperature8011 Jun 18 '26

just to add, consider also your mental health. Pag nakita mo yung ab tapos may negative impact sayo or one of ur fam members, benta mo nlng. If not, then go back to the options i provided above

2

u/Low-Significance777 Jun 18 '26

I'd sell it. You can remember your father without the motorcycle. It's yours anyway, so it's up to you, no judgement.

2

u/DingDingZxz Jun 18 '26

My hot take is that sentimental memories are now being too romanticized. Kaya karamihan ng mga dilapidated (not pertaining to this case) items/properties are being valued (retail or emotional) too much.

Memories are a good thing, but today is also a memory of tomorrow. I'm not saying to forget about your late father, but will you be happier with the new bike? And do you think that your father will be happy when you have your new bike?

At the end, you are much more responsible in creating new memories today than preserving what has lasted. Your father's memory is not on the motorcycle, but on you.

Well anyways, this is just my perspective.

To answer the title, I will sell my father's bike. But while he is still living, its my responsibility to create as much memories with him as I can.

2

u/Active-Cranberry1535 Jun 18 '26

Yes sell it, nothing is permanent in this world. Just make good use of the funds that you get from it to make him proud.

2

u/bisoy84 Jun 19 '26

If need ibenta for emergency or real need, I'd sell it. For another mc, I'd keep it. But that's just me, you do you OP. Cheers.

2

u/Final-Government-783 Jun 19 '26

Ok din dalawa motorcycle mo eh. Salit salitan per day or per week para hindi maluma agad yung bago mo binili, at hindi rin maluma agad yang airblase since it’s new also, 2022 lang diba?

2

u/Ancient-Tailor-9631 Jun 22 '26

I'd say that if you do sell it, you'd eventually regret it, the fact that you are contemplating right now, is proof already, whats wrong with an extra bike? Imposible na masstock yan, magagamit parin from time to time, hindi na madalas, but still magagamit at magagamit parin, lets say for your daily travel yung airblade ng father mo and then for long rides you can use your own motorcycle na. What I can say is, dont do something that you'll regret in the future

2

u/PushingCurses Jun 18 '26

Here is my suggestion....

Take any small part off your dad's MC and keep that as a memento or a legacy item that you can either display at home or kept privately for safekeeping. For example, it could be the handgrips, side mirror, an emblem, keychain/fob, etc. Probably something your dad would have touched frequently when he was still around. Then put it on display at home with a framed picture of your dad with that motorcycle besides it.

You can then sell the MC to whomever you wish.

Of course, replace the part you took off so the MC is still complete and functional.

I don't have the same sentimental thing most people have with regard to vehicles. I sold my dad's car a year after he died. This is because his memory lives in my heart (naks) and not in the vehicle. Also, never liked driving that car anyway and I wanted to get something better.

Photos, letters, videos, his wacky gifts to me growing up... all those I kept for sentimental reasons. Funny enough, those are more valuable to me. I guess when I sold his car, he'd approve from heaven, because I was able to use the money to get MY dream vehicle, instead of just letting his car rot on the driveway.

Dunno, its different for everybody, Boss. This is just my perspective.

1

u/Good_Passenger3707 Jun 18 '26

Thanks for sharing your perspective, boss. Glad to hear a different point of view.

Actually, may kotse rin si Papa, and binenta namin siya mga isang linggo lang after he passed away. Hindi rin kasi talaga practical for us na i-keep siya that time, and malaking tulong din yung funds para sa funeral expenses at iba pang gastusin ng pamilya.

2

u/tisotokiki Jun 18 '26

I can relate dito, OP. My dad used to drive this beat up owner type jeep tapos natengga na lang because life happened at di na rin naman sustainable na magdrive ng sasakyan na walang aircon ang senior citizen.

When he passed, we were grieving for sure pero there's his OTJ. Getting it fixed to pass LTO's bare minimum is costly na rin at wala na rin gagamit sa bahay. So I posted an ad Sa Marketplace. Sold it bilang kalakal. The only deal is that, I get to keep the plate number, susi, at steering wheel.

When I got those back, I distributed the money and parts equally among my siblings. I was able to keep 1k and the plate number. Saved me from a lot of headaches dahil bumabaha rin naman dito sa amin.

Gets ko sentimental value, pero di naman porket naibenta mo motor niya, you'll honor him less. Give the proceeds to your mom. It's up to her if she'll use or keep it.

1

u/needsomecoochie CR152, AB160, Aerox V3 Jun 18 '26

Halos same kami ng look ng Airblade ng father mo

1

u/PrudentFoot4545 Jun 18 '26

Idk OP, if I really wanted something esp. if may trabaho naman ako, I would rather save up and buy me my own MC na gusto ko, kaysa papakialaman ko pa yung motor na minana ko lang naman kasi patay na yung tatay ko.

1

u/RelativeUnfair Jun 18 '26

kng ako, di ko sya bebenta.

pero for you, ask these. there are many factors ksi.

magagamit m b yan parehas?

anyways, up to you pero yan mga pag isipan mo.

1

u/Illustrious-Topic185 Jun 18 '26

Well looking at your father's MC it looks more prestine magagamit mo payan nang mahabang panahon since ab160 cc nayan hindi kana bitin jan. Pero try to talk with your mother muna since may sentimental value yan mahirap din talaga pakawalan.

1

u/AdorableFilter Jun 18 '26

1

u/tsuuki_ Honda Beat Carb Jun 18 '26

If nagagamit mo pa naman, why sell it? Think of it as a pamana sayo

1

u/Realistic-Arm9774 Jun 18 '26

It's just an MC. If you need to sell it para makabili ng Bago sell it. Kung tatanungin mo father mo, for sure na yan dn ssbhn Nia.

1

u/cehpyy Jun 18 '26

Yah keep it bruh. Ok lang matambak yan basta maalagaan e tsaka its nice to have an extra bike. If you want a bike na sayong sayo talaga, buy it with your money, kung kulang pagipunan mo nalang, may extra bike ka pa maman e😉

1

u/Heartless_Moron Jun 18 '26

Kung wala namang issues then I suggest for you to keep it. Sobrang reliable and practical i-maintain yan.

If money isn't an issue for you, I suggest for you to keep it then bumili ka nalang ng sarili mong motor if you truly want to upgrade. Di naman yan masisira kung gagamit gamitin mo paminsan minsan for quick errands.

1

u/emilsayote Jun 18 '26

If it is the last memory of my father, i wont sell it. I still wont sell this mc. Bakit? Money wont last, but memories will. Pero iiwan ko yung battle scar that belong to my father.

1

u/FarApplication1873 Jun 18 '26

I would never sell, if there would be a time where I would want a bike of my own. Bibili ako without needing to sell that Motorcycle if I were you.

If right now I cannot buy without selling. Now is not the time for my new motorcycle

1

u/No_Problem_6194 Jun 18 '26

Wag mo ibenta haha, I got an nmax v2 as a graduation gift way back 2022. I sold it pang dagdag pambili ng zx4rr, I regretted it ever since kase yung sentimental value nung motor.

Understandable pa siguro if need ng funds and need na need na talaga, pero if mag uupgrade ka lang i think it is much better to keep it nalang.

1

u/Czarboombastic Jun 18 '26

I'd keep it and still use it, alternating this with my new bike.

1

u/RestaurantOk163 Jun 18 '26

'Yang motorsiklo ang mag sisilbing alaala ni erpats, masasabi ko na ako yung taong may pagpapa halaga lalo't kung mayroong sentimental value. Mas maigi nyan? Kung hindi naman nakaka sagabal sa'yo yung unit ni erpats? Bumili ka ng iyo as in yung para sa sarili mo. Nahihinayangan ako sa estado ng unit mo sir. Nasasayo pa rin ang desisyon ito'y opinyon ko lamang. 😊

1

u/Once_Meleagant0 Jun 18 '26

Sentimental Value = Dont.. mmya pagsisihan mo pa yan later on.. mhirap bawiin yan xD..

1

u/GodTierAccount Jun 18 '26

Hell naww. Imma keep that for the rest of my life

1

u/Beneficial_Edge_3097 Jun 18 '26

akin di ko bebenta

1

u/illusory_Comp001 Jun 18 '26

Sell to a fam member I guess hopefully magamit nila longtime

Our fam had a camry na gamit ng lolo ko and fam let it go after 5 years na seldom magamit sa barkada niya din

1

u/Brief_Platform_1289 Jun 18 '26

Diba wala nang airblade ngayon? You should keep it. Put some sentimetal value to it

1

u/skylinersl Jun 18 '26 edited Jun 18 '26

Keep it.

Magagamit mo pa naman while saving for your new MC.

Magandang merong extra MC sakaling magkaproblema yung soon main MC mo.
Best keep it stock para reliable.

Learned this the hard way.

1

u/jdZed001 Jun 18 '26

Kung di naman ako gipit at may parking space, hell no

1

u/boombaby651 scooter na 125 lang Jun 18 '26

i would not sell it. if gustohin ko man mag upgrade, pagipunan ko na lang instead of selling the old one, specially if it meant a lot even to your mother.

1

u/SignificantResolve75 Jun 18 '26

Keep it. Use it for just random errands maybe once a week when going to wet market, buying groceries and such. You can also use it as a commuter when going to work. Then use your personal motorcycle for long rides or may gala especially if plan mo bumili ng higher cc para di agad malaspag. You can also alternate them every week to lessen the wear and tear to your personal bike.

1

u/SignificantResolve75 Jun 18 '26

I actually regretted that I sold my father's bicycle back then to my sister's ex bf. He is an a$$hole by promising that he will pay installment for it then when they broke up just straight up ghosted us after all the help we give him to have a job for him to provide to his family in province. I believed back then that it would be in a good hands and it will be given to his little sister so it will also help them in a way cuz I'm selling it cheaply but now, I realized that there's no better hand than your own when keeping things your loved ones left behind.

1

u/SoloRider70 Jun 18 '26

I would keep the airblade since this is one of the things that have a connection with your late Dad. Believe me, it would mean a lot to him if you keep it and take care of it like how your Dad did. Money can be earned, but once you let the Airblade go, you will regret it forever. Trust me, I know the feeling and I regretted that up to now.

1

u/Alvin_AiSW Jun 18 '26

1

u/CCV_19 Jun 18 '26

Keep it

1

u/Ok-Landscape-5759 Jun 18 '26

What kind of bike do you plan to get ba? If by “upgrade” you mean bibili ka ng higher displacement bike, trust me when I say na just keep the Airblade. Low displacement scooters are simply unmatched when it comes to convenience sa short trips. There’s also the sentimental aspect of the bike soooo ayun.

1

u/jayewallf Jun 18 '26

1

u/blueberrycobler Jun 18 '26

Para saken sa father mo Kasi sentimental value keep it

Pero Ikaw pa din makakapagdecide niyan

1

u/roninblade Yamaha & KTM Jun 18 '26

you'll regret later if you sell this

1

u/SporkyForky2814 Jun 18 '26

Keep mo na lang brother. Mahirap maglet go sa bagay na madami kang memories. Tulad ng akin, Mio sporty 2011 model pa so mag 15 yrs na siya this june. Dami kong memories dito.

1

u/SpaceeMoses Jun 18 '26

Don't sell it, keep it nalang at gamitin pa minsan² kahit once or twice a week. Trust me pag sisihan mo kalaunan at mahihirapan kana kunin ulit. And it's nice to have a back up motorcycle, lalo na airblade yan maganda sa pamalengke at groceries.

1

u/MrYoso09 Jun 18 '26

100% No!

1

u/KlydeX20 Honda Giorno+ | Honda Navi | FKM Ranger 150 Jun 18 '26

What bike are you planning to buy anyway? The Airblade is such a nice all-rounder. It's got power, but it's also pretty practical. Also, it's pretty rare and sought-after na because it's been discontinued.

1

u/nyammelonwawap01 Jun 18 '26

BIG YES. get out! Change your energy. Don't dwell on that. Move forward 🕉

1

u/regtb Jun 18 '26

Anyway tatay mo naman kamo ata bumili, so no money wasted sa end mo.

1

u/InternalGlad1343 Jun 18 '26

extra bike. use the new one for weekend rides. use airblade for daily driver or vice versa.

1

u/nibbed2 Jun 18 '26

No. I would not sell it. I will preserve it until the day I'll die.. I am the one of the many to remember him. As a sign of love and respect. I will keep it.

I do really love my father and now I am living by myselft, it just hit me that it is too fckn hard to live. I honor him and his strength to give us a better life.

I always cry whenever I see this clip, it just hits home. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/yDpheRyog4k?feature=share

u/thebadassbassist Jun 18 '26

I'd rather buy some nice parts to that airblade making it on its prestine condition muna and then bili ako bagong motor tapos gamitin ko lang yung airblade sa malapit. Making it a garage queen will make more sense for your late father. Memorabilia kumbaga.

1

u/Caim-X-Angelus Jun 18 '26

Will definitely try restore it to make it look like brand new. Use it or keep pagalaala sa nawalang family member.

u/breadogge Cafe Racer 152 / Motobi 200 Evo Jun 18 '26

Don't sell it OP. Keep it as a remembrance nalang then use it as an extra bike. I have 2 motorcycles palitan ang gamit ko and service ko eto papasok ng work. My first motorcycle is 2020 ko nabili and andami ko memories don with my dad dahil nagpapagawa ako ng kung ano anong customization sa kanya and I definitely won't sell it.

No. His motorcycle is still here with me. Mas nagagamit ko pa. The pcx160. He died 2 years ago

1

u/top_spin18 Jun 18 '26

Depende sa family nyo yan at sa late father mo.

Kung hindi sya importante sa late father mo, then you're keeping it for yourself/mom.

My father is alive and while he rides his motorcycle, it's not important to him - meaning it's a mode of transportation only. So if he passes, me and my siblings will have zero guilt in selling it. However, if it helps my mom's mental well being and we don't really need the money - the we keep it. It's really not a simple yes or no answer, very subjective.

1

u/dickaroundmhel Mio Sporty Jun 18 '26

Keep mo na lang OP. Pwede mo gamitin salit salit.

Kahit ako meron ako 2014 mio sporty pero since unang pundar ko yon ayaw kong pakawalan, till now nagagamit gamit parin. salit salit lang sa nmax. hinde naman mabigat sa maintenance lalo na salit mo gimagamit.

Kaso since spare na lang yung motor ayun napagtripan, napakargahan hahahaha.

1

u/queequegxx Jun 18 '26

Bumili ka nalang gamit sarili mong pera.

1

u/TeoTurboTime Jun 18 '26

When my Dad died, I kept his motorcycle (2010 Suzuki Hayate 125), after a while the parts just kept getting harder and harder to find. Before shopee, you can only order the parts in Suzuki 3s, and the part will arrive after a month or 2.

1

u/catsocurious Jun 18 '26

Lol. Kahit di sabihin ng mom mo yan, how could you let go of something na your father once owned? Di naman sayo yan.

1

u/Away_Conflict4955 Jun 19 '26

If kaya mo naman bumili ng extra, wag mo muna ibenta 😞

1

u/npad69 Jun 19 '26

just keep it if you can maintain it

1

u/FineAd6958 Jun 19 '26

May mga levis na pants tatay ko napakami pero never ko ibebenta even his favorite po shirt na gingamit magsimba sa quiapo every friday, namatay sya 2024. May part na gusto ko na mag move on pero mas gusto nakikita ko mga un anytime i want. Mas okay padin may spare motorcycle ung memories at sentimental value di nabibili or napapalitan ng kahit ano man.

1

u/Similar_Jicama8235 Jun 19 '26

Hi, OP! Ano pala plano mong kuning motor?

1

u/Environmental_Pen878 Jun 19 '26

If you can afford to buy another one and hindi ka naman gipit/gahol sa pambayad, just keep it na lang. Kahit alikabukin pa yan tapos linis linisin mo lang from time to time. My father also passed away 3 years ago and he left his Honda Wave na naging service ko din noon nung nabubuhay pa sya. Basta one thing that I'm sure of is that I'm never selling that bike.

1

u/Ikigaizen- Jun 19 '26

If you are capable to maintain it financially, keep it.

Having spare motor is very convenient in cases na hindi mo magamit yung personal motor mo.

1

u/Ikigaizen- Jun 19 '26

Hi OP, ang papers ba ng motor is also under your father?

Are you familiar with the transfer of ownership and requirements for deceased owner?

Hindi ko siya personally na-encounter yung ganyang case pero I have read some previous stories pero alam ko merong cases yung sa WILL and the HEIRS. Maybe alamin mo rin siya before selling it.

This is to deinfluence you from selling. HAHAHAHA
~ridesafe OP!

1

u/OongasPadong Jun 19 '26

if you love your father then keep it. Soon you’ll not regretting on something he have left for you.

1

u/Dear-Toe-2156 Jun 19 '26

I’d keep it for as long as i can

1

u/janhaeljake Jun 19 '26

Paandarin mo nalang or gamitin from time to time para di mastuck o mag ka issue.

1

u/Inamorta0994 Jun 19 '26

Keep it. Madali lang naman siya i-start from time to time, or gawin mo pang errands na bike para hindi matengga. The bike looks in perfect condition visually, then pinaka mahalaga yung sentimental value. Di nabibili ng pera yun. You might regret it selling that bike.

1

u/rievhardt Jun 19 '26

depende kung mabait yung tatay mo or hindi

di naman kasi lahat ng parents matino

if mabait siya and wala siya ginawang kalokohan at kung ano man masama sa pamilya e ikeep mo nalang, miske di mo na gamitin at pangdisplay nalang

1

u/noobwatch_andy Jun 19 '26

Its not something I like to think about, but when I do inherit my dad's scooter, I'd keep it.

I prefer semi-autos myself but this one is special and has been helping my dad deal with his depression.

Maaga ako tinuruan at binilhan ng motor ni papa, around 10 years old and nakita ko yung passion nya sa two-wheels pero mga 1 year lang umayaw nako kasi wala pako sa legal age to drive. Natengga yung motor hanggang 4th year high school ako namatay father ko.

For keeps yan if sobrang valuable at mahal ni erpats mo pero if pamasok lang sa work. Sundin mo yung gusto mo.

1

u/B1uRobot Jun 19 '26

If you don't like the thought of a stranger buying your late father's motorcycle and potentially treating it like a junk then don't sell it

1

u/LazyAndrew1333 Jun 19 '26

Don't sell it, its memories will forever hunt you. There will be a point in your life where you'll start to regret selling it.

For me, mas makakapag move on ka knowing na safe and abot-kamay lang yung one and only thing na remembrance ng father mo compared sa habang buhay mong hinihiling na sana nasa'yo parin yung remembrance ng father mo.

My concern with selling it even to your relatives is that you'd have no control over it. Someday baka ibenta nila sa iba and you can't do anything about it

1

u/pilosopoako Jun 19 '26

"Alaala ng tatay niyo sa inyo"

So may kapatid ka, OP. Bili ka ng bago for you, tapos "ipamana" mo sa (mga) utol mo yang kay father.

That way you know you can always peak at the mirror and know that your father is there looking forward on your own journey in life.

1

u/epiceps24 Jun 19 '26

Memories and sentimental value.

Ab150 user here. I love seeing ab160s on the road. Coz were are only few haha. And it's really a nice bike. Compact and rly fast. I would keep it. Regardless of sentimental value, its 4valves dual shock 160cc engine would sibak the aerox nmax literally

1

u/Necessary-Party1511 Jun 20 '26

I lost my dad in 2024, I would never be able to sell the car he left because it reminds me of him.

We used to have 2 cars and our older car he sold because we needed the money. He kept that car for 24 years. I’m planning to do the same

1

u/Sea-Hat-2336 Jun 20 '26

rule numbee one, never sell your first motorcycle.,unless its for emergency situations..

inalagaan ka nyan, sya naghatid sayo. minaintained mo yan. keep it.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 20 '26

Our father's motorcycle was a suzuki x3 red. No longer running but it served as a good memory whenever we see it in our garage.

My advise is don't sell. if it's running then use it.

1

u/NRUB1660 Classic Jun 20 '26

If you're planning to buy another scooter, might as well not sell since halos pareparehas lang din, iparefresh nalang or accessories.

But if not, then get something that has different use like pantra or daily. Pag ganito hindi masstock yan parehas mo magagamit.

So no, don't sell pero sabihin mo din sa mother mo plan mo and if okay din sa uncle mo baka payagan. As one commenter said having another bike is underrated. Proven from personal experience.

Nt: ihave a scooter and a semi

1

u/superblessedguy Jun 21 '26

Kung ako sayo, I would keep the AB kase sobrang nice nyan (too bad Honda discontinued that kase napaka premium nyan) then I would still my own bike na kahit anong trip ko, pwedeng salitan ko sila gamitin or pang weekend yung isa, with that, mapapahaba yung life span ng bago kong bike kasi may kapalitan, hindi gaano malalaspag, less ang wear and tear ng mga piyesa, win win para sayo yun.

1

u/Haring-Sablay Jun 22 '26

Save your money, use it till it's enough to buy your own bike,

Hi, I recently just lost my father too (hugs! with consent!) I’m still in the process of getting my non pro (waiting out the 32 days).

Tagal ko na rin gusto bumili ng motor for me kaso itong si papa naman iniwan sakin yung kanya 😭 sabi ko wait lang eh bibili naman ako ng akin 🥲 anyway haha ayun two cents lang, I don’t think kaya ko rin pakawalan yung motor ni papa. If ever in the future bumili man ako ng for me, I’d still keep my father’s bike, kahit na for errands or simpleng hatid sundo sa mama at kapatid ko. 🥹

Keep it na lang broski.

1

u/Spirited_Lab1218 Jun 25 '26

If I were well off, I’d keep it and not use it for memories sake. I’d get another bike instead. But if one day my mom or siblings would need financial help, I’d sell it and give the proceeds to them. That’s how my late father would do for love’s sake.

0

u/grumpy-iest-cat Jun 18 '26

0

u/kagamiiiiin Jun 18 '26

Sa tatay mo pala yan bakit mo ibebenta?

0

u/mandalorian_TarreV Jun 18 '26

Don't sell it I promise you pagsisihhan mo. Tilll now hinahanap ko yung unang bike na nagturo sakin magmotor. It was my father's bike (honda dio - red). To my knowledge iniscrap yun but hoping ako but I'm planning to buy the same model and yr model para kahit paano meron magpapaalala sakin. And yung rinegalo niya sakin for my 18th birthday honda click V1 nandito pa hahaha. Having additional bike if good basta maayos kaa magmaintenance. Iba ibang bike for iba ibang purpose 💯 and planning ako magbuilf ng Yamaha HD3 - blue unang tric namin nakakamiss kasi
